A very nice hotel overall. Nice rooftop pool. Horribly dirty floors in the rooms. (keep your socks on, and expect them to turn black) We had requested a 2 Queen bed room, but got a single King room. Didn't work with 3 kids. Got a modest upgrade to a larger suite with two queen beds which worked out nicely. We chose to go with the daily flat-rate valet parking. A few days into our stay, the car was brought up front with obvious damage to the rear bumper where it appeared it had been backed into a column in the parking deck. The valet manager immediately denied any responsibility especially after supposedly "reviewing the video surveillance footage" later. I got credit for 3 days worth of valet parking, but that doesn't cover my deductible for getting the damage repaired. The floors were disappointing, but the valet experience pushed this way over the edge. I won't be back.

I stayed at the Mayfair for four days this August and it was beautiful. The location was convenient with it being right across from CoCo Walk and minutes from downtown and South Beach. Parking at the hotel is expensive so I parked in the parking garage across the street, which adds up but overall, is still cheaper. The hotel was great, definitely a four star stay. The only problem was with a malfunctioning elevator, which I happened to be in at the time. But I'd definitely stay there again.

Comentado por Stewart, deNew Orleans, el ago 9, 2009
In the heart of Coconut Grove, this is an superb value hotel, with excellent service and well-maintained. I arrived late and the room I had booked was filled, but I was upgraded to another suite, which was huge, at no extra charge. Hotel restaurant was excellent and the lobby bar poured "stiff drinks" at reasonable prices for the Grove. The fitness facility was available 24 hours and the equipment, although not plentiful, was also well-maintained. The only "downside" was that the hotel is built around an open (and lovely tropical garden)courtyard, so that the hallways to the rooms and the elevators are not air-conditioned. Unfortunately, during my stay the hotel was conducting a mandatory test of their fire alarm system, which was annoying, but this can happen at any hotel and the management gave us plenty of warning that it was going to happen, so you could make arrangements to be gone all day if you wanted and avoid the problem.

Comentado por un huésped de Hotels.com el jul 9, 2009.
We stayed for 3 nights/4 days over the 4th. The Mayfair is in a great location. There are tons of great restaurants within a 5 minute walk and the bay is about a 10 minute walk. The hotel staff tried to talk us out of walking down to the water (recommended at taxi), but it was an easy walk. Monty's had a great atmosphere for dinner. We ate at the Greene Street Cafe for a long breakfast (great) and quick breakfast at the Bookstore next door. George's had great food for dinner. Coco walk is literally across the street. The pool on the roof is nice, but the night club is overrated, so it would have been nice if the pool was open full time instead of closing at 6. We tried to watch the fireworks from Cabana One as recommended by both the hotel and Coconut grove, but the building across the street completely blocked the view. Great view of south beach and downtown fireworks. The hotel room was always clean. We didn't use the Japanese Spa, so can't comment on that. The worst part of our stay: A neighbor had a party on Saturday night. They were finally stopped at 3:45 am after several phone calls to the front desk. The managers came with every call (we could hear their conversations in the hallway), but the other guest did not want to stop his party. We couldn't hear any music from Cabana One.

Happy with the hotel and the staff. We loved the location and the design of the hotel. For a 4 star hotel I would expect the rooms to be a little nicer. The bathroom had no outlets. How does that even happen? The hot tub that was on the patio was looking and smelling a little funky. And I don't mean funky in a cool way. The tile floors that are in the room leave your feet dirty so use the supplied slippers.

This is a beautiful Hotel in the middle of all the action. The manager was easy to talk to and the place is very clean. My biggest problem was that the cleaning ladies kept unlocking the the doors and coming in! This was around 7AM! I had to super lock the door and when I left the hotel around 9AM, and returned around 10PM, the room wasn't cleaned! This happened everyday! Finally I called down and the receptionist says to me, "Well, what do you want ME to do about it? I can have someone come in and clean up while you watch!" I was appalled at that treatment! Everything about the hotel was fine. It's not as loud as some people online say it is. I was on the 4th floor and the music from the bar was not bad at all. Do not allow this to stop you. This a nice hotel and worth the money.

They did offer to change the room and compted us free services. The graciousness of the staff helped with the inconvience

Unfortunately I was only able to stay for one night, but the Mayfair was an excellent getaway for my girlfriend and I. We only live about an hour and a half away so I can't say we went to see the area but the hotel itself was great. Very curteous staff and the room was as clean as one could have hoped. Great location with many restaurants and shops right around the corner. I'd love to be able to say that all was well (and overall it was wonderful) but there are a few things to be aware of if planning to book a room here. If you are looking for a room with a nice view this may not be the best place. We had a veiw of a very nice wall. Not a wall with nice designs or paintings, just a large wall. This turned out to be prefered though because it was nice to have some privacy in the hot tub. Also, there was a $30 charge to use the hot tub, but well worth it. In addition to the lack of the view, parking was $24 for over 13 hours and the television remote only worked if you were standing directly in front of the tv. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I hope to go back in the future. The beautiful room and overall comfortability far outweigh the minor annoyances mentioned above.

Hotel administration is poor. Go to the restaurant have wait for 20 minutes before somebody comes to take your order. We had to ask several times for our room to be made up (last time at about 16:30 hours). Your TV will probably will not immediately work for pay YTV and other services; there are no instructions how to operate the system and you will have to wait for somebody to come and get it running. Beware, parking is $26 per day. Getting the Jacuzzi going is $ 40. Other than that... great location. You may not appreciate the building architecture...but location is great.

We stayed at the Mayfair hotel for three nights during peak season on a weekend. We didn't realize that it was known for having a very popular disco on the top floor, so when we arrived the receptionist graciously put us a quiet corner a few floors below the disco floor (we're not disco people). There was a slight bit of noise from other hotel guests (only one night), but no more than one would expect from any hotel. The large room and huge bathroom was well appointed and clean. The Coconut Grove area is a nice alternative to South Beach if you still want to have restaurants within walking distance, but with much less of the insanity of the beach.

I enjoyed my stay at the Mayfair. Staff was helpful and the courtyard at the center was way cool. my room was comfortable and clean. The roof pool and bar area was a good time. The view was fabulous. The mall across the street has restaurants, stores, bars, and a movie theater. The bookstore next door was a good stop for breakfast. The Mayfair is a good place for couples to relax at with out the kids. Although kids would do fine there too. 2 small issues that could be and should be seen to are: the balcony tub area needed some landscape improvements and there needs to be an outlet in the bathroom for the coffee pot.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Location is in Coconut Grove, away from the bustle of Miami but also a bit of a walk to anything substantial. Stayed here 2 nights. Outdoor patio looked great with the wooden hot tub but it rained nearly the whole time and there was a lot of rainwater and leaves collecting out there on the patio furniture, etc. so couldn't use it when the rain stopped. Humid in the room with a slightly musty smell because of this, but GREAT bathroom and large room with nice TV/DVD player and wireless internet. Would stay again if you're looking for a nice room/bathroom where you can rest or if you have a car and aren't dependent on a cab ride to the beach, etc.
