You need to take a taxi everywhere. No metro close by. Squeaky beds and they join two twin beds to call them a king. The beds kept moving away and were very noisy. The hotel is by a busy street. Not recommended. We found ourselves another hotel after two days. Beware Madrid has two train stations Atocha and Chamb something Check your tickets carefully to see where you arrive and depart.

Good hotel for the price. The hotel is located 15 minutes away from the main city atractions. Bus stop is right outside the hotel, metro station is 10 blocks away the price for the metro or the bus is 1 euro per ride or you can buy 10 rides for 7 euros. lots of restaurants and boutiques around the hotel. the food is relatevily cheap average of 10 euros per meal( around hotel). I found the location of the hotel safe.

The hotel is slightly south of downtown and away from the hustle and bustle of the main city (which we liked). It's located in a slightly eclectic neighborhood. It's not too far from the Metro (the Marques de Vadillo stop) which is the key to getting around in the city. The hotel itself was clean and had a very nice bathroom. Some of the reception desk staff can speak basic English, but knowing Spanish is definitely an advantage. All in all, a nice hotel.

Hotel is not in the center. Hotel has 4 stars but rooms don't even have the irons. (they want you to pay for ironing your clothes). They also want you to pay for parking 19 euro + internet 7 euro. I asked for 1 king size bed at the reception and what I got was the 2 merged small beds. After I paid for the internet my laptop couldn't connect to wifi for 30 minutes and reception didn't answer... DO NOT RECOMMEND

Praga is a nice hotel with nice rooms, very clean. However, this is not the place you want to stay if you are a tourist. The front desk is extremely unhelpful, they have no maps, and honestly are kind of rude. The location is far from the tourist places in Madrid. We got around by the metro which was safe and efficient, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The staff were really great and the room was beautiful. The walls were so thin that we hard a time sleeping, though. Maids started vacuuming the halls and cleaning the rooms around 7 in the morning so sleeping late was not an option (which was too bad because of the jet lag).

Stayed here the first two nights and last two nights of our Spain Trip. Very Reasonable access to the Metro (Marques do Vallido) and the number 23 bus takes you right up to the hotel. Staff are polite but very limited English; very cooperative if you use even limited Spanish. Very good value. Rooms were clean and location was convenient My daughter's note: Hotel does not have power converters to lend!

Hotel Praga is a little south of the city center, so it's a good place to escape the crowds and noise. It's a good 15-20 minute walk from the nearest Metro station (Marques de Vadillo), but once you get to the hotel, there are lots of neighborhood restaurants, markets, and shops in the area. The staff were always available and professional, but not overly friendly. The room condition was satisfactory, not dirty or old, but the A/C did not seem to get very cold. Overall, a good deal for a budget stay.

The beds need to be changed. They are very hard and when you get up in the morning, it hurts. The prize was great for the value. People at the front desk are not nice at all. When you ask them a question, it seems like you were annoying them. I like taking the bus to SOL right in front of the hotel and it is only a 15 minutes ride

Fresh sheets everyday. Very nice restrooms. The showerhead was awesome!!! Location was good. Front desk staff isn't exactly friendly, but I'm from the south where we give a very warm hello to everyone. The were stout, but acceptibly polite. My only complaint is that the room was uncomfortably warm, and since we stayed during the winter season, the hotel did not provide ac.

Outstanding cleanliness. Beds need improvement. Located in a mid class neigborhood where u can find great typical and cheap bars to eat.

I loved this hotel's location because it was outside of the city center and therefore not too touristy, there was a supermarket next door and many good reasonably priced restaraunts close by. It was also relatively easy to get to as there was a metro station about 10 minutes walk away.

I had read previous reviews about the front desk of this hotel not speaking very good English, or only one person out of the shift knowing it. Luckily, I happen to know enough Spanish to get by without that being an issue for myself, but I did also notice several times where the staff was communicating seemingly easily with English-speaking guests. I would not worry about that as an issue if you're apprehensive about booking with this hotel. While it's not located within easy walking distance of Plaza Mayor, Gran Via or Atocha, it is located within a little under ten minutes of a walk from the Marqués de Vallido Metro station. If you're coming from the airport, the cheapest way to get to the hotelw ould be to take the Metro straight from Barajas. There are two connections, and it takes about thirty-five minutes, but it's only around a Euro as opposed to the $30+ for a cab. Some may prefer the cab as it will be easier with lots of luggage, but if you're able-bodied and looking to save money, the Metro is the way to go. Regarding the aforementioned Plaza Mayor, Gran Via and Atocha, all are easily accessible by the Metro, as the first two are about six stops north on the green line, while Atocha is the same direction on the green line with one connection and about a 20-25 minute ride total. Again, if you are able-bodied (i.e., able to walk a lot) and want to save the money on cab fare, this hotel is in a perfectly sufficient location for hitting up all of the usual sights and not having to pay quite as much as the higher-priced tourist traps. And I found the neighborhood to be perfectly safe (this considering I travel alone), with plenty of great bars/restaurants within walking distance (including a Pizza Hut and a Burger King for the homesick) of the hotel, as well as grocery/convenience stores and a great bakery about three doors down. In regards to the hotel itself, there were a few small issues that I didn't really have too big of deal with but should still mention

You can metro to this hotel. Exit the metro and cross the street in front of you. Past the small plaza and cross the street. Turn right and continue walking until almost the end of the block to reach the hotel. Hotel is before the tunnel. About 10 minutes walk. There is a good bakery next door and lost of fresh fruits/groceries around. Be warned that everything closes after lunch for 2 hours. Bad points about the hotel: staff speaks little English but enough to get by, and the cleaning staff doesn't respect the DO NOT DISTURB sign and insists on cleaning your room every morning. The metro is the best transport to get to everything. Don't plan to stay too long in Madrid. Everything is doable in less than 2 days. The food isn't great, very bland and comes with fries all the time. Mostly kebab places and cafeterias, no real quality dining. We ended up buying McDonalds because we were sick of the food after two days.

The staff were very rude and it was overpriced for what you get. - A tiny "non-smoking" room had an ashtray and reeked of smoke. Somebody must have been smoking by the air intake because the air coming out of the room's vents also stunk of smoke. - The maids ignored my do not disturb sign and let themselves in - The maids didn't change the empty box of kleenex, and left a pair of socks for me from the previous resident - The lifts were slow and didn't stop level with the floor - Really noisy. The walls were paper thin. I was on the 8th floor and the motors/brakes for the elevators and people's voices kept me awake all night. - It's farther than I expected from all the city attractions

The hotel was easy to get to from the airport using the Metro exiting at Marquez de Vallido. A bus stop for #23 is not far from the Metro and stops in front of the hotel. This bus also takes you to Plaza Mayor. When I first walked in the room it smelled of pee. The first morning I woke up at 5:30am to a suction noise coming from other showers. It was on an off until I left my room. My room was around the corner from the elevator and still it was very loud when people were waiting for the elevator. There are safes in the room for a daily fee plus a deposit. I would recommend the hotel if you don't plan to stay in it except to sleep.

Hotel Praga is a great place to stay, but remember many of the hotels in Spain will not have the amenities we expect in the USA. A five star hotel is really what we would consider a four star hotel in the states and a four star hotel is what we would consider a three star hotel in the states. For instance, they do not have microwaves, refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms. Also, they did not have wash cloths for guess and a king size bed consist of two double beds pulled together. In addition, do not expect a swimming pool workout room or a whirl pool in the hotel. In spite of the like of amenities, I had a wonderful time in Spain because I did not spend a lot of time in the Hotel.

This hotel wasn't as far from the Praga Musuem area where we initially wanted to stay as we thought it would be. It's about a 6 Euro cab ride away. There aren't as many shops around the hotel as we had hoped. The hotel staff was friendly and spoke a little English. Our room was cleaned daily, but the beds were VERY uncomfortable. For the price, I recommend the hotel. But if you want to be able to walk around instead of taking cabs, I would choose a different area.

Hotel: Moderate size room with nice, clean bathroom. AC/Heater works well. Twin beds can be pushed together for couples if no large beds avail. In room mini-bar with fridge came in handy. Staff was helpful. You can purchase phone cards at the desk for local or international calls. Plenty of elevators. Nicely kept hotel. No view from ANY of the rooms. No in room coffee. Continental breakfast is 10 Euros/person. Near hotel: Bus stop in front of hotel can take you to Plaza de Espana where you can take subway, or you can walk to "Marquez de Vadillo" subway station a few blocks away. There is a supermarket on the building next to the hotel (look for the pharmacy sign.) Post office is behind the gas station on the way to the subway. The Hyper Euro stores in front of the hotel offer a large variety of things at small prices (like 99c stores.) I found a wine bottle opener and electricity adapter for under 1 Euro ea. Burger king, Pizza Hut, restaurants, and plenty of "bars" near by (bars serve coffee and breads in the AM).

This hotel is good deal for that you pay, bus 23 will take you close to Plaza Mayor, and back. Bus stop running at 12:00, so its great for people who don't like to stay out very late. I won't advise to eat at restaurant or café' around the hotel, feel like they take advantage of tourist. Have you dinner before you get back to hotel and go to place where price is list out. If you have to eat nearby ask the price first so you won't be charge $8 for a coke or $5 for a bottle of water.

The Praga Hotel was clean, quiet, well-kept, and provided friendly customer service. However, very few (1) spoke a little English. We booked a double room with twin beds which was very small. If you're the typical American traveler that likes to carry a lot of baggage, it is easier to just minimize luggage. We rarely found a large space that allowed us to haul in our luggage without bumping into beds, closets, doors, or even leaving it in an empty corner. The same was true at Praga. The only unused space was for walking. And, in order to get my luggage into the large closets, I had to set it on the bed and push into the closet. The view out the window was not admirable but showed other typical apartment buildings with laundry hanging out the window and dilapidated courtyards. This is a nice hotel for the economical traveler. Bon Voyage.
