The room was very good for the price we paid. Location was great--walking distance to the Metro, the Capitol, Museums. Two complaints: 1. the lobby and hallways/corridors were hot (didn't feel like they had air conditioning) and 2. the rugs in the hallways were not vacuumed. You could see pieces of debris.

Very nice hotel. Conviently located, within walking distance to everything. No parking available you have to use valet and it is very expensive! Room was small but nice and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful. Over all, I would highly reccomend this hotel.

If someone is looking for intimate and private settings, like a boutique type of hotel, this is not the one. It is a Marriott! Nevertheless, the hotel is very comfortable and well kept. Staff was welcoming and helpful. It has an awesome automated loading system for their 6 elevators!!! It was a bit confusing at first to find the lobby (level 0), restaurants (level -1) and spa (level 1), but once we learned it, it was easy. The nicest thing about this hotel is its location; very close to the momuments, the White House, museums, restaurants and other point of interests. We had breakfast at their buffet breakfast, which was very convenient and had plenty of choices.

Comentado por Cindy, deNew York, el jul 16, 2009
I had stayed at this hotel 8 or 9 years ago, then stayed somewhere else, so I appreciated how PERFECT the location is, especially compared to other hotels. Less than 3 blocks from the White House, and the closest hotel to the Mall. Even though it is very expensive, I stayed here anyway and it was TOTALLY worth it. It's primarily a business hotel, but it was great for us, too (mom and 3 kids, 15, 15 and 8). DC is spread out, and you'll do a lot of walking no matter where you are, but at this hotel you can minimize cab rides. Great pool and hot tub, too! Breakfast is ludicrously expensive (like all hotels now). I went to a deli right near the hotel and bought breakfast for four for what it would have cost for one (maybe) at the hotel. The glitch? Before I came, I called and asked where I would park my car, which had a roof rack on it. The person with whom I spoke said the hotel had an outside parking lot (same price) where I could park my car. NO!! When I arrived, the valet parker said he'd have to take off the roof rack so it would fit in the garage. Taking it off and especially putting it on is a PAIN. That made me grumpy. I complained to the receptionist (politely, I hope!) and she upgraded our room. The upgraded room had a FABULOUS view. That was so nice! And then, imagine my DELIGHT when I got to the driveway when we were leaving and there was my car, with the roof rack back on! The valet and the manager had put it back on for me. Wow. So the hotel really did make an effort to accommodate the goof where someone had given me bad information. Great spot.

A fancy hotel that is walking distance to most of the main DC attractions. From my standard room I had a view to the monument and the old post office tower. I walked to the FBI building, the Lincoln memorial and the Washington Monument. Just a short cab ride to the Regan (DCA) airport - cab ride cost less than $20 including tip.

This is hotel is in a great location - an easy walk to the White House, the Washington Monument, Smithsonian, and dozens of other sites. The room and hotel was clean. I was awoken by hallway noise - although the rooms seem well sound-insulated from each other and from the outdoors, it seems like there wasn't much sound insulation from activity in the hallway. It is funny that higher-priced hotels nickel and dime you to death. WIFI is available for a daily fee, so I went without WIFI and depended on my smartphone for email. I noticed there was a hefty charge if I made the mistake of using the in-room refrigerator for my own food - an entire Benjamin. No joke. Or you can call down to the desk and have them deliver a different mini-fridge for what I'd call a substantial sum. In short, I threw out my leftovers as there was no way to store them. In the end, I likely would have been happier at a less-fancy hotel that didn't make me feel like I was being treated as a captive customer. I think I'll do that next time.

We did the White House, Washington's Monument, Lincoln's Memorial, Jefferson's Memorial before lunch and a break at our hotel, which is top rate, gorgeous, modern, efficient. After lunch we toured the National Galleries and the Capitol, strolled down the shopping streets back to the hotel. The JW Marriott was the perfect centerpiece of a great walking tour. I would live in DC if I could live in the hotel.

Satisfied with room. Very clean, updated fixtures and linens. Geat location. However, hotel is so big, you really feel like a number. If I didn't get a reduced rate through hotels.com, I definitely would have shopped around for another hotel. Also, the valet could not find our car at 8 AM the morning of our daughter's graduation, so we had to make other transportation arrangements, but they did give us one night free parking as a courtesy.

We visited Wash. DC for spring break with my boyfriend's 10 yr. old son and had a great time. This hotel was great! The location was perfect - it was clean, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that the concierge could have been more knowledgeable on where to send a family with children to dinner, but there were plenty of places to dine and overall this hotel will be our "go to" hotel when we visit DC again.

Given how D.C. is laid out, this hotel's location is great to walk over to the White House or down to the Mall/Washington monument/reflecting pool. The area is completely safe and I felt fine walking around at night by myself. Good restaurants one block away and the grill in the hotel had a surprisingly good menu and fantastic service. The breakfast buffet is wonderful -- lots of selections and relatively quick seating. The hotel is very kid-friendly (I wasn't traveling with kids) but several parents weren't policing their kids at the buffet line which can be suboptimal, since there aren't hotel staff watching them either. I would strongly recommend booking the "stay for breakfast" package since it includes the breakfast buffet and, coupled with the room rate, is a good savings off buying them separately. The room was great -- very clean! The beds were super-comfortable and great amenities in the room. The bathroom was a little on the small side but nice marble and a great shower. The best part of my stay was the staff. Always courteous, eager to help, and kind. I was traveling with a disabled relative and they were really kind to her, even carrying her plate for her at breakfast! I used the concierge several times since he was so helpful and the front desk was superb. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff! Even housekeeping was really friendly and stopped to say good morning in the hall. No question, I'd stay here again on my next visit to D.C. Even with the onslaught of people for the cherry festival, the hotel never missed a beat naking us feel welcome and cared for!

We very much enjoyed our room, and the staff was uniformly helpful and friendly. The breakfast package we got through this web site was a great value - the buffet (which is nice) was priced at $25/person, and we got it free. That is $100 for our 2 day stay. The only negative was a spa that was supposed to offer massages on 1 hour's notice but did not return calls after 4 hours. Recommended

The hotels.com package included breakfast, which turned out to be the best investment...(had to show front desk the confirmation - indicating bkfst - as they don't know)...their daily bkfst buffet is the best we have ever seen or tasted...($23 for adults and $5 for kids..so the bkfst included was very valuable) and the hotel is amazingly hi-tech...they know if you store a drink in the minibar due to the weight, then they sent us a fridge to use...also very convenient to all attractions and two blocks to metro.

COnsidering that this hotel is just 500 meters from the White House, the price was about right, especially if compared with an equivalent type of hotel in London!! So location is good, but so it seems for most hotels in downtown DC. I had a good time, but it would help to have a place where to have full breakfast, instead of the usual Starbucks.

We booked two connecting rooms for my husband and I and the kids. The kids room was a little tight with the cot but overall this hotel was wonderful. You can't beat the location, security and comfort. My only suggestion would be to try to get a room with a view. If you don't your window faces a courtyard enclosed by buildings.

We very much enjoyed the JW Marriott on Pennsylvania Avenue. The location can't be beat, the hotel is beautiful and the staff were very gracious and helpful (and we've always been very pleased w/ other JWs we've stayed at!). Our room and bathroom were quite small though and a bit cramped. Aside from size though, quite nice. The hotel only has one restaurant that wasn't especially exciting or impressive, but luckily there are quite a few other choices within a block or two. We would definitely stay here again and maybe look into getting a larger room.
