The room itself was great, however, the pool was off limits on Sundays for a pool party that apparently took place every Sunday in the summer. This was not readily advertised and had i had my daughter with me, I would have been extremely upset. Overall, the hotel was very nice but more suited for young singles.

I had no idea what to expect when booking this hotel online. It exceeded my expectations and I would definitely visit again. The hotel restaurant was fantastic and all hotel staff members were great. The only problem was the closing of the bar at midnight. Just too early!

The beds and pillows were very nice and comfortable. Everything was clean, they have a very nice restaurant and the service was exceptional. The bar's drinks were a bit overpriced and not great but the pool on the roof was wonderful... a great place to sit in the daytime or evening. A great location with an easy walk to Union Station and the Capital.

Considering the impression that the hotel gives of itself, as an up-market boutique hotel, expectations were high as we arrived for a 3 night mini-break in DC. Generally, the hotel staff were a little less than courteous, there was no upscale market hotel check-in process, where you feel welcomed and an appreciated customer. Welcome to the Affinia even would've helped a little. Yes, the hotel is clean and comfortable, but to be honest felt as if we were staying in a modern mediocre chain hotel. Our room was nothing special, nor were the much anticipated Aveda bath products. In addition, we were woken at 8.30am (or earlier) asking if we wanted our room cleaned - even on checking out day! The location was great for walking to the mall - but in a less-than desirable neighbourhood. Luckily the hotel wasn't as luxiourous or as special as we had expected so we definately were out all day, everday exploring. Rather than spending time in the pool or in our room. Overall, a decent hotel for the money. But considering all the hype on the website and modern, luxurious photos - disaapointing.

This was our first trip to DC so we were alittle nervous about if we picked a good hotel since we didn't have a clue of the area. The hotel was clean, very comfortable beds, important to us, and the location was excellent. We were in walking distance to everything. The roof top pool was very awesome, so clean. Very pleased with the rate we got and the hotel itself. Will be staying again.

Thought the hotel was a little "run down" with wallpaper peeling, etc., but they were doing some work while we were there. Prices for beverages and snacks (and choice available) were high and not children friendly. When we booked room, did not have an * next to additional fee applies for parking and when we arrived, wanted more than the going rate for parking. Wound up parking around the corner at a public lot for 1/4 of the price. Soured the vacation when you check in and feel you are not getting what you paid for. Internet service is terrible. You have to pay if you want wireless in your room and the public in the lobby just doesn't work well. Would keep kicking you out of the free service and directing you to the pay service. Eventually gave up. Overall OK, but not great and would do more research for another location next time.

Comentado por un huésped de Hotels.com el ago 26, 2009.
Our room was far too small for 3 people. The hotel was described as "swanky," but it seemed to be trying too hard, and felt simply over-decorated by Pottery Barn. Also, the cleaning crew kept forgetting there were 3 of us and left us only 2 towels on two occasions. However, the location is fantastic, a very short walk to the Capitol and only a bit longer to the Mall. We also enjoyed the rooftop pool in the hot afternoons. The lifeguards and staff were professional and very helpful.

The hotel had a nice location. You could see the Capitol Building. I liked having a pool, but I wish that it opened early, like 7:00 a.m. so I could have gone swimming before we went sight seeing. My only complaint was the parking fee. I think $45.00 was too much!

THE MATTRESS PAD ON THE BED WAS TOO PUFFY, WHICH MADE THE BED DIP IN THE MIDDLE. BUT OVERALL WE HAD A GREAT STAY. IF YOU GO, CHECK IN, THEN PARK AT THE PARKING GARAGE AROUND THE CORNER. The first thing that hit us when we entered the hotel room was the smell. It smelled awful. We immediately requested another room but was told the hotel was fully booked and to try again the next morning. We called again in the morning and were told we could have a double room (instead of the king which we preferred). Because we preferred the king bed, they offered to Febreze the room. We left and came back in the evening to the same awful smell. I don't think they Febrezed, but even if they did, we discovered the problem was from a leaking ceiling that kept a portion of the carpet wet. There is no way that the maids could not notice the smell. They should NOT continue to rent that room out until they replace the carpet in that room. Also, there were bed bugs. My husband and I both have numerous bites. Also, the staff was never very friendly. The night desk guy especially was pretty cold. I called guest services to ask about transportation to Baltimore; the clerk said she wasn't sure but that she would check and call back. She never called back, even to say "Sorry, I don't know how to get you to Baltimore on public transportation." Luckily, we managed to find the information on our own. Also on our last night there, I called guest services to ask the best way to get to Dulles airport. The desk clerk told me via taxi. I thought that would be expensive and asked the clerk how much it would cost, and he said he had no idea. Why then did he recommend a taxi? They must have tons of customers who come in via Dulles (we had flown in via Reagan, so taking a taxi from Reagan was only $15). We ended up using Super Shuttle. The Super Shuttle driver mentioned that hotel was not very friendly to Super Shuttle drivers. He thought they received kickbacks from taxi drivers, and that's why they gave Super Shuttle drivers such a hard time whenever they come by to pick up customers. I will say the hotel was very conveniently located as far as getting to popular D.C. attractions. It

Great location, 5 minutes from Capitol Hill by foot. Parking was way too expensive $41. We had to walk to a nearby parking lot and paid half. Internet cost me $18 for 18 minutes- too much.

The location was great; the staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were super comfortable but a few things need to be taken care of - the wallpaper in the bathroom seemed poorly installed and was unglued in a few spots. Same situation in in the main room. Thanks to the reviewer who mentioned parking around the corner, it saved us a lot of money as opposed to parking at the hotel. Overall, a good experience.

This hotel was in a decent location. You can see the Capitol building as you look down the street! There is another well known hotel directly across the street so it felt safe. No coffee maker in room nr vending machines. There is a roof top pool.We slept very well. We took the advice of a past visitor and parked at Untion Station (approx. 20$ a day) rather than the 46$ a day valet parking through the hotel. It is about a 3 block walk from Union Station. Union Station has a metro stop, food court, pharmacy, places to buy coffee and breakfast. We utilized it quite a bit. A good deal in the heart of the city. We probably could have walked to the mall easily, but never did.
