This was our third visit to this hotel. It is near the Iwo Jima memorial and Arlington Cemetery. It's just across the river from the National Mall in Washington DC. Rooms are clean and comfortable. There is a large covered pool. Breakfast at the restaurant was acceptable but not great. We recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the monuments and Smithsonian.

I searched hundreds of hotels in the DC Area when planning this trip and chose Best Western Iwo Jima based on convinience, budget and the fact that it had a pool. All three things were very important, and I feel it met all of those needs with flying colors! I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area. The hotel was challenging to find; we drove separately from my parents, both of us got lost initially, but found it by accident within a few minutes. After staying there, we looked back at the original directions and still said "This makes no sense!" I suggest calling the hotel and have them tell you how to get there from the GW Parkway. We loved the pool. Really shallow (5ft deep end) but its an "outdoor" pool with a glass structure surrounding it, so even in the rain, we were swimming (and it sounded cool!) The roof had sliding panels, not when it's not raining they were wide open, with a view of the sky, so no pool smell. After that, we were very happy with the distance from the metro (about 0.4 miles) which seems like a long way after walking all day, but it was very doable. We were able to take a pedestrian bridge across Rt. 50/Arlington Blvd and walk to Iwo Jima and Arlington Cemetery in a few minutes. Then took the metro from there to the mall. Wilson Blvd is the main drag through Arlington where the Metro and restaurants can be found. Many places to chose from , but I recommend "Red Hot and Blue" around the 1500 block, Chipolte's on the corner near metro, and there is a deli right in the Metro mall where they offer a hot breakfast bar. We bought ours to go, hopped on the Metro, got off at Soggy Bottom and sat down at a little chess table in a park on the way to Lincoln Memorial. Despite what others have said in their ratings, we found Lido's (the pizza/pasta joint right in the parking lot) to be good food with a very convenient location! After walking around the mall for days, we chose Lido's and were happy with the food.

Nice family type hotel. Location is good for tourists and service is very efficient. The independent dinner on hotel premises is great for a good breakfast.

The underground free parking was nice. Location to metro not bad. No breakfast was a minus but for the price I would stay here again. If you stay in this area check if the hotel charges for parking. There is a restaraunt on site and the food is good an not overpriced. If you want a luxury hotel this is not it. If you want basic then it is fine.

This hotel was nice, with good sized rooms and a pool. It was hard to find the first time, partly because it is on a marginal road next to a freeway, and also because the street it is located on is labeled "Fairfax Drive" while the address is on Arlington Road. I had directions from two online services as well as a detailed map, and I still had to drive around a couple of times until I figured out how to get to this hotel.

Great location. 5 min drive to the monument and memorials. 5 min walk to the Iwo Jima memorial sculpture. Clean room. You pay for what you get.

Got a deal for the location just a short walk to the metro. Rooms had microwave/fridge unit which is a plus. Friendly staff let me stay in the free parking lot after I checked out for the day. If you compare other hotels make sure they have free parking others charge up to 30.00 a day.

Hotel personnel were excellent.. very helpful with all of our needs. Hotel is located close to the subway and a cafe/diner in the same parking lot was very convenient (and good food)

The hotel was reasonable, clean... and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to request a room without a door adjoining it to the next room (unless you need two rooms) because you can hear EVERY word you neighbors say. Otherwise, not a noisy place. Very close to Georgetown, to food, and to the metro.

This is an older well maintained hotel with friendly staff. The indoor pool is very large for the size of the facility. On my next visit to the DC area I will stay here.

Very nice hotel, close to DC attractions. The pool could have been cleaner otherwise, an excellent experience and value.

Its the Best Western - don't expect anything special. The rooms are tiny, there is no lounge, there seem to be an abundance of LOUD guests. While the price is lower for hotels in the area, the price is TOO HIGH for a Best Western. Spend the extra 20.00 and get a room at the Hampton or Embassy Suits.... you'll be better off in the end.

Nice room at good price. Close to Metro Station. Free parking (a big plus for Washington D.C.)

Great location and reasonable. We were able to park our car and to use metro to go into Washington. Neighborhood was quiet. We walked all around. Workers were very friendly and helpful at front desk. Would definitely stay there again if and when returning to Washington.

DC is expensive and this hotel was reasonably priced. It is a bit of a hike to the metro stop.

The lobby coffee and fruit was great. The pool was OK and refreshing. The local restrauant list provided was very good and easy to follow. We had a wheel chair so we had to drive but walking is totally accessable. Ledo's next door was very good and reasonable.

This is not a great hotel, but it is a good value for the money. The room was clean and the location convenient. The hotel was busy and noisey. My biggest complaint is that I specifically looked for a place with a pool but the pool closed at 7:00 pm which made it pretty much unusable after sightseeing.

Price was good. Has a pool which was heavily used. Room was clean and large enough for 3. Adjacent Italian restaurant had good food but slow service.

Walking distance to the Memorial and Arlington Cemetery, Hotel staff were informative and assisted in the Metro location and stops to get to the mall and back as well as meals around the hotel in the evenings. I would go there again and recommend it to others.

We were very pleased when we arrived at our room. The location was great. The walk to the metro was an easy one. We stayed a week, and did not have to move the car once. The people working at the desk were always helpful.

I was very pleased with this hotel. The location was great 5-10min walk to Metro. My family and I felt safe in this neighborhood. Rooms were updated and quite. I would stay here again.

This hotel is great! It's about 6 blocks to walk to the metro, which we used to get around. Rosslyn is a pretty good jumping-off point, but it's not a hopping area by any means. We did feel very safe walking around, at all times of day. The only strange thing is that the hotel's actually located on Fairfax Blvd, not Arlington Blvd! We realized that AFTER lugging our bags uphill, across the freeway, uphill again, then seeing the hotel across the freeway, and having to upstairs to cross the footbridge to Fairfax...beware! Those are my tips - the hotel itself is clean, friendly, and a fab value.

Great Value for the DC Area!

Free parking, clean room with flat screen TV, coffemaker, microwave, and fridge. Close to metro and Iwo Jima memorial. This was a great room for the money! Exterior could use a little updating but that's the extent of my compliants.

The service was friendly and accommodating. Room was neat, clean and cool. Be careful in the restaurant. Food is very inconsistent.

Excellent location, great for one night stay, free parking was a plus, as were the 2 queen beds in the room.

The hotel was in a great location for anyone wishing to walk to DC and surrouding areas. Also the Metro was very close to take farther destinations. The one complaint we had was the air conditioner was very loud (wall mounted) and the bathroom was in need of some repairs on wall/floor but was very clean and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the DC area.

Good location to reach the Washington D.C. Free parking was good, too.

We got this hotel basically as a pit stop between cities. We did not want to spend a lot of money for the amount of time we spent in our room, but we were so excited when we got there, and the room was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The staff was outstanding, and helped us with information as to how to get to the city. The metro was just around the corner and for about 10 dollars our whole family of four got into dc for the day with a 10 minute ride. The hotel let us leave are car in the safe garage for the day even though we checked out. What we paid for the hotel room we could have easily spent on parking in dc. What a savings. Will DEFINATELY go there again?

Easy walking distance to the Rosslyn metro stop, so conveniently located, considering the price. Try to get a room facing away from the street, which is very noisy.

Office staff was exceptional. Always helpful with maps, references and visitor accomodations. Next door restaurant was reasonably priced with good food. In lobby computer for short term use. Pool had a lifeguard staffed 2-10. Non-smoking facility was a plus, despite smokers using the terrace immediately outside the lobby,in the public walkway, which was a downside. Microwave and fridge with convenient grocery store minimized meals out for breakfast/lunch/snacks.

This hotel is not new one;however, very neat and comfortable to sleep. covienient access to metro Rossyln station. Very nice.

Great location. Close to a Metro station, grocery store and drug store. The room was big so we didn't feel cramped. Would stay there again.

Great room, extremely clean, No odors and no overbearing cleaning scents. Very courteous staff and conveniently located. Would definately stay there again!

its close to the white house, monuments, etc! just buy a subway pass and you are there! if you are a Marine (like me) you will be glad to see the Iwo Jima memorial. This hotel is 45 mins away from the Marine Corps Museum. Its got a pool! Cons: Small parking.

Within an easy walk of the metro and just across the river from Georgetown, this hotel provides great access to D.C. at a very reasonable cost. The surrounding neighborhood is not very scenic, but for us that didn't matter.
