Ramada Edinburgh Mount Royal - Edimburgo

We spent two nights in the Edinburgh Mount Royal and were more than pleased with the hotel. Great location (in spite of Princes Street being in the middle of major road works at the moment), pleasant and helpful staff and the buffet breakfast was very enjoyable. We would certainly stay there again .

The hotel is situated in the centre of Edinburgh on Princes Street so who could ask for better. Try to get a front facing room facing the castle. Staff all found to be courteous and helpful. Bedroom small but adequate unless you have a lot of clothes as there is virtually no drawer space. Room very hot but a fan was provided. Breakfast is a self service buffer with a good if not great selection. I would return without a doubt.

Good points - location; food. Bad points: service in restaurant very slow and every request appeared to be problematical. Room only adequate - v overpriced if you pay full rate! Shower goes scalding to cold rather than starting at cold as you turn the control - v dodgy design!. EXTREMELY annoying hairdryer cut-out when hair half-dry; needs to stay on longer and reset quicker. Ordered paper but didn't get one (wasn't charged so no big deal).

Had a pleasant stay but the whole hotel looks a bit tired and in need of a makeover. Thought it would've been good value for money if breakfast was included.

I stayed at the Mount Royal Hotel for a couple of days visiting a friend in Edinburgh. The location is truly excellent, just a couple of minutes walk away from Waverly station on Princes Street. The staff were warm and friendly. The room itself was fairly standard; maybe you'd expect a little more for the price but it was clean and functional. Breakfast was again, a little expensive if you don't book it in advance, but the views from the restaurant/bar are fabulous. Overall, a satisfying experience.

Stayed over bank holiday weekend 1st - 4th May 2009. We are Couple. Hotel receptionists were very polite and informative. Hotel spotless. 1 lift not working so was a slight problem. Location of hotel is fantastic. Tramline being built right outside hotel so should be great to get out and about in the future. On the bad side. Nowhere to park your car, or even a dropping off point.. Nearest NCP (who have a deal with Ramada) is a good ten minute walk away. Cost £15.20 per day. Views of castle are very good especially at night when lit up. Only ate breakfast there but it was well worth the money. Convenient for shopping and wide selection of pubs and retaurants. Would stay there again.

I did not like that one had to pay extra for breakfast. The internet facilities in the room were baffling, complicated to set up with difficult to understand instructions. The movies were expensive. The hotel can't be beaten for location...very central and near to everything.

Fine, but a bit old and tacky.

The Staff were very friendly, great views from dinning / lounge room of edinburgh and the castle, we had a couple of problems with our room but nothing too dramatic - lipstick left on cups, smelly bathroom / toilet, otherwise fabulous location, we got cheap price after new year and were veryt pleased with our visit. At the end of the day the holiday or break is what you make it!!!!
