Hard to beat this hotel if you're traveling by train. Literally a block away from Rome's central Termini rail station, the hotel is very convenient and offers a clean, good, quiet respite from the bustling outside. Our room and bathroom were good size and clean. The air conditioning was in good working order. The hotel staff were attentive. The outdoor rooftop restaurant and bar offered a great view of Rome, and a nice, romantic spot to take in the warm summer evening. The only negative was that our room was above and next too a service alleyway where delivery and trash trucks made much noise very early in the morning.

Stayed for 6 nights in a twin room with my daughter in July 2009. Cheerful welcome on arrival, from english speaking staff. Room was very clean and decently equipped and quite recently decorated. Aircon worked fine. Room wasn't huge but was big enough. BAthroom just fine, with plenty of hot water. Quite pleased though it overlooked the back of the building as street in front is busy. Buffet breakfast genreous - Basically have as much as you like! No evening food apart from restaurant on roof which is pretty pricey. Likewise no general bar, but you can have a late drink in the roof restaurant. Worth it for the great views. Plenty of small bistros and pizzerias in the backsreets around the immediate area.

Great hotel for the price. Super location. When we checked in, our room's front door was malfuntioning. They quickly got us another room, one which was bigger. Rooms/bathrooms were clean and there was no pestering knock, knock, "housekeeping" knocks on the door in the morning. Like elsewhere in Europe, the beds were a little hard, but overall, a great place to rest your head while in Rome.

Probably the most outstanding aspect of this Hotel was the service at the front desk. We arrived 3 hours before our designated check in time expecting to just drop off our bags and start our day of sight seeing but instead we were given the room keys and allowed to immediately settle in. We were curious as to which tourist attractions were closest to the hotel. Our Concierge asked us a few questions and then was able to quickly give us two suggestions on tours that were well within walking distance. We dined at their rooftop restaurant that evening but were not overly impressed with the level of cuisine although being a Chef I tend to be a bit critical. The next day we wanted an exceptional dining experience and again our Concierge pointed us to the perfect location (Alfredo's). This is not a 5 diamond, 5 Star Hotel but based on the price, location and service we would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Mediterraneo to any of our friends.

The staff was very helpful and the hotel was clean which are both huge priorities for us. The condition of the hotel as it relates to it's 4 star rating, however, was a disappointment. The room furnishings were old and worn. The bathroom was minimally stocked with towels and amenities and the air conditioning would never meet US standards. Overall, I would recommend it because of it's location and because the staff did the best they could with what they had. I just don't agree with the 4 star rating.

you can tell this hotel had a grand past. but it's been nicely updated and very comfortable. it's convenient to the train station but the area is not where you want to be casually walking around at night. Great views at their roof-top restaurant.

The hotel is very close to Termini train station which makes it easier for traveling by train. Hotel staffs are nice to help out on the information being asked. Hotel even provide some complimentary bottle water and snacks which is different than other hotels we stayed in Europe. The downside is this hotel does not provide free wireless internet :(.

We stayed in the Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo during our last two nights in Italy. The location (less than a 5 minute walk from the train station) was very convenient. Despite what's in some of the other reviews, we felt very safe walking between the hotel and the station, even after midnight. Our room was spacious, well-maintained, and seemed to have been significantly updated. The bathroom was the largest we had on our trip. The free breakfast could've been better, but was good enough and offered plenty of food. We did not visit the terrace because the prices were quite a bit higher than what we found a quick bus or subway ride away. Overall, it was a nice hotel in a very convenient location, especially if you need to catch a train.

This isa very comfotable, friendly hotel. Fantastic position very close to station and tour bus starting point. Highly recommended to anyone.

This was one of 3 hotels we stayed at in Italy, it was our second favorite. We stayed for four nights. The location is awesome, the train station is one block away, the Colosseum was a 15 minute walk. Despite being close to the train station we didn't hear or feel any trains the entire stay. (We did hear and feel the trains at another hotel a block further from the station that we stayed at for one night before we left). The staff wasn't very warm, but they were extremely busy, and they were friendly. The hotel and room were both gorgeous, and the breakfast was amazing. Overall a good stay!

Hotel was very conveniently located near Termini. The staff was very helpful and friendly and our room was ready early upon our arrival. Beautfiul roof top bar with a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival,

A big high-end hotel in classic art deco (Mussolini modern?) Nice rooms, beautiful breakfast room (linen cloths and napkins), and an impressive lobby-lounge, Dignified but friendly staff, My son and I spend five days there and felt it was a very nice respite from the noise and heat of the city, The price seemed to be in line with other hotels in Rome, Note: the subway (in the train terminal) is easy to use and cheap. Don't be intimidated by the token machine, after one attempt you will be an expert. Avoid during rush hour!

Loved the location (right by the train station), and the hotel staff was friendly, plus all spoke english which was comforting. I would not recommend this hotel if you need to be online frequently because the rooms did not have internet access... there was only a small set up in the lounge which was inadequate for todays technical communciation junkies or those traveling on business.

Just one block from train station.

Had a fantastic time...the location was very convenient and the service was excellent. I'd recommend it to everyone as a great value.

This hotel was perfectly located, near the central train station and an easy walk to all tourist attractions. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help and make recommendations. The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable; I felt safe and slept well the entire time I was there. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough; I plan to stay in the sister hotel in Florence on my next trip.

The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the main train station. The decor is excellent and the staff is very helpful. A good pick if you are visiting Rome.

My wife and I stayed two nights. Great location next to Termini station. Convient for the airport and the subway. Hotel staff were friendly. There is internet cafes around the next block, hotel internet was $$$. I would stay at this hotel again. The breakfast was good.

My wife and stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased with our overall stay. Within walking distance of almost every major attraction (especially the Forum and Coliseum) plus the Terminus and Metro were right next door to catch the other attractions. Numerous street side cafes with very reasonable prices and quality service were a nightly treat and not very far away. The rooftop hotel restaurant did offer a great view and one of the best steaks I've ever had. The room was a decent size and the beds and pillows were definitely very European...a little on the hard side, but that's Europe. Wireless internet was pricey, but there were 2 internet cafes right down the street. We enjoyed the full buffet breakfast every morning which filled us most of the day. The room also had a fridge where we stocked bottled water and Coca-Light from a grocery store and saved some Euros. I would stay again upon our return to Rome.

Everything was great, breakfast, location of the hotel, tour availability,....If I travel to Rome again, I'd go to that hotel again.

As a 4 star i expected abit more of the wow factor. We asked for a kettle and never recieved one, also i forgot the iron, they wouldnt give me one, they said i cud send it to be ironed, but i wud of cost me 9 euro for one top!!! Room service is very expensive, it cost 5 euro for a pot of tea.

The room was clean, quiet, and relatively spacious. The downsides I experienced included a leaking toilet, dripping faucets, and a telephone which won't allow you to make local calls. Not all staff were courteous but those that were made up for the short comings of their peers. The breakfast was excellent. I have paid more for less, and less for more in way of hotels - so I would say the price in relation to the offerings was about average

Over the road from train station but quiet as soon as you enter. really nice reception, nice spacious room, clean bathroom with bath with central taps and shower. Pillows a bit hard! Great location, could walk easily into Ancient and Central Rome, nice restaurants nearby if required. Metro across to Vatican city straightforward from station. Roof terrace closed in winter but restaurant still open. A great choice.

Nice hotel with all the comforts and amenities. Loved the roof-top cafe. Front desk service was above par for Rome, still a lot of improvement needed. Service from porters was "were there porters???" I think we needed to arrive in a Maserati to get the service all guests deserve.

Room clean and large by European standards. No plumbing problems at all. Staff very good and pretty good with English. American breakfast was included and quite good. Location very near Termini Station and historic Rome - outstanding. Rooftop restaurant very, very charming, located on one of Rome's highest hills. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Bettoja Mediterraneo is excellent value for money. Good rooms, decent buffet breakfast, location is fantastic. 2 mins from the Termini metro hub means that with quick metro ride you can then walk to EVERY tourist site in Rome. You'll not get better value - would definitely stay again if we return to Rome.

This hotel is splendid, Art Deco with incredible furnishings, comfortable rooms. A unique roof bar terrace with views of Rome. Most important close to the Roma Termini less than 5 minutes, safe area. If I come back to Rome, I will stay in this hotel every time!

A great place to stay if you are travelling in or around Rome. Right across from Termini train station and easy access to the Metro. The hotel staff wasn't very helpful, but the accommodations were good and clean.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this hotel and have had a fantastic experience on both occasions. The hotel is in a great location for Termini Station and accessing all the major sites of Rome, great facilities such as a free gym and 10th floor open air bar from which St Peters is visible lit up at night. Big clean rooms, excellent breakfast and great hotel staff. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to the eternal city.

While the staff was not very helpful, the hotel was clean and moderately comfortable.

So close to train station less than 5 minutes walking,Rome bus tours pick up just around corner. Ancient Rome just down the road with Trevi fountain etc still within 15 mins. Staff in rooftop bar/restaurant were lovely and views at sunset were amazing. Air conditioned rooms were a great relief in scorching August temperatures - all in all a great place to stay!

The staff was not helpful and actually provided incorrect information, which caused us to miss a tour, costing us 200 Euros. We were very upset. They would not refund the money for the tour.

We went to Rome for a short vacation to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We chose this hotel for it's location, price and rating - we were not disappointed. It is located very near to Statione Terminii the main railway terminus and also where the Terravision shuttle bus from Ciampino airport drops you off. The hotel is air-conditioned - a great plus especially when it is 30 degrees+ outside. Our experience of the staff was that they were very friendly and helpful, polite and courteous. The rooms are spacious, very clean and we found it to be quiet. The food is a little on the pricey side - but there again it is a 3+star hotel (and worth it). The roof top bar/restaurant has great views across the city from the Colosseum to St Peter's Basilica and is ideal for either eating (although we didn't) or just drinking wine and watching the sun go down. Breakfast was included and was pretty good, better than just a continental breakfast with a selection of yogurts, cereals, fruit juice, bread, bacon and eggs. There are lots of eating establishments within close proximity to the hotel if you fancy pizza's, lasagna or cannelloni and all reasonably priced around 8 Euro. Altogether a great stay, would go back again and we would highly recommend it.

This hotel is great. It's right around the corner from Termini Stazzione, the train station. The Metro is right around the corner as well. The area is great. The romantic rooftop resturant has an outstanding view and the food and service is very good.

Very convenient location close to the train station. One train stop for 2.00U takes you to the downtown sites. Window open up and nice dark wood look in the rooms. The concier was helpful. The breakfast was included so it's like a Bed and Breakfast concept. Breakfast room crowed and European menu would get old for most US visitors. The bar downstairs is not open but the terrace bar was nice with a great view.

The hotel is a terrific value. Very convenient. The staff will go over and beyond the call of duty.
