Salisbury Hotel - Nueva York

My colleagues and I were in NY for a meeting and needed to find a nice hotel close to everything. We got a good deal on 6 single occupancy rooms (4 of which were upgraded to suites). All rooms were clean and tidy and the suites were immense for 1 person! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the hotel was $4 for "continental" breakfast, plenty of it and all fresh. Great carbohydrate and sugar rush to start the day. Location was great, being close to Central park and Time Square but easy subway ride to everywhere else. Would definately go back when next in NY.

We enjoyed our stay at the Salisbury. The only complaint was that the TV channels in the rooms did not include ESPN2. We think the hotel should include the channel that the US Open Tennis Tournament is on. We go to New York City to see and view the tennis matches on TV when we are not there in person. This was our 19th year at the hotel, and the first time that the TV at the Salisbury did not cover the US Open Tennis matches. That was a disappointment.

Stayed at the Salisbury for 6 nights in September 2009. Hotel clean & comfortable with helpful staff - nothing too much trouble-infro or checking pick-up times. Rooms large some with kitchenette. At the time of our stay there was some building work on the west side of the hotel so ask for a room towards the other end as friends in these rooms weren't disturbed by the drilling noise!

We had our three kids with us, and the One bedroom suite offered plenty of room for the whole gang. The staff was really nice and helpful. We will definitely stay at the Salisbury again whenever we travel with the whole family.

The staff was very helpful upon arrival. Rooms were neat and clean. The air conditioning worked well. Probably recommend getting a room that doesn't face 57th Street, which can be noisy.

We were very pleased with the Salisbury...The location couldn't be better (very close to subway entrances--especially the line running to the bus to LaGuardia) and the room was quite large and comfortable. The breakfast was nice for a small fee. We will definitely want to stay here again!

We stayed in the inappropriately numbered room 911! This is not a luxury hotel but a city centre hotel which was very comfortable and clean albeit some of the decoration was a bit shabby - have been in much worse in London!. Room being at the back of the hotel was quiet - the air conditioning unit was not! Room was very comfortable and very, very clean. Could have done with tea/coffee making facilities in the room and free internet access - you have to pay for it. Breakfast a very reasonable $4 per person (much more expensive outside the hotel) but did not like having to use disposable plates and cutlery - suppose it keeps the cost down - be prepared to wiat a busy periods. Staff very easy to deal with and very informative. Best thing about this hotel is the position, 2 minute walk to Central Park, 2 minutes to 5th Avenue and a 10/15 minute walk to Times Square. Also 2 Subway stations about a minutes walk at each end of the block. Not the fault of the hotel but building work just up the street started very noisily at 7 each morning. Seemed to be a very busy hotel with guests leaving and arriving on a very regular basis. Overall, in a great position decently priced - we would be very happy to go back to the Salisbury.

Great location close to subways and central park. Nice and clean room. I will stay there again.

A very inexpensive room - so perhaps expecting a quiet air conditioning unit was unrealistic. But it sure was loud!

For the money this is a great hotel. Perfect location and all the personnel were very helpful and accomodating. The continetal breakfast was okay. But, could have been better. But, for the money was worth it. It also serves until 11:00 a.m. which is good since some people don't get going early! I have stayed here on most of my visits to NYC and would do so again. I would also recommend to others.

I have stayed here before, and the value for the money is very very good. The rooms are much larger than you normally find in New York City. Although it is an older hotel, they have updated the bathrooms and were very very clean. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The location is great...so near Central Park and within easy walking distance to the theaters and Times Square area.

We had reserved a standard room but when we arrived they upgraded us to a suite. It was far nicer than I ever expected, especially for a NYC Hotel. It was a great price for a great room. We will definately stay there again.

The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We liked the fact the hotel is just two (2) blocks from Central Park (South) and close enough to the Broadway Theater District, but far enough away from the maddening crowd of the District. A perfect location if one attends an event at Carnegie Hall. Its located across the street from the concert hall.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to NY. There were four of us in the room and there was plenty of room - which is unusual for a NYC hotel. There was a huge walk in closet and another smaller closet as well. It was very clean and the location was great. The hotel room itself is a bit outdated - especially the bathroom - but it was very clean. We were 1 block away from Central Park, about a 5-10 min walk to Times Square and Rockafeller Center. The staff was very helpful with directions. The continental breakfast was very good as well.

This is my third time staying at the Salisbury Hotel. The location, service, and large rooms are why I keep going back. Having a microwave, refrigerator, two walk in closets, and an extra little bar sink helps when you have 4 people sharing a room. I also like the option and convenience of having the continental breakfast there for $4.

Hotel location was great, one block from Central Park and Subway entrances.

What a find. Great location accross the street from Carneige Hall. Huge quiet clean rooms. The staff was exceptional and very friendly. Relatively cheap too, for N.Y.C. I would definitely stay here again.

The Salisbury is a great value for the price. It's also a good, conveniently located hotel overall. I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with my wife and two children. The rooms were much roomier than expected - large hotel rooms by any standard. The beds were comfortable. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. We only stayed one night, so I don't have a much of a basis for commenting on hotel staff. The front desk workers were courteous and efficient. One of my best experiences in a hotel anywhere. I would highly recommend the Salisbury and plan to stay there again.

The room was much bigger than expected-especially the bathroom. There was a microwave and mini-fridge as well. The only down part was the elevators were very slow and it was hot in the hallways waiting for the elevator.

Great location for the money Very clean and spacious suite. Three walk in closets for three middle aged divas. Can't wait to get back there.

I challenge anyone to find a hotel that sleeps a family of five in one room with this level of comfort for the same price. Allows you to easily put up with the attitude of the staff.

We really enjoyed our stay. They made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating. The only negative is there was not a pool. But the rooms were nice, the housekeeping was very nice and prompt. We were so busy in NY, the non-pool thing wasn't a problem. :) I would definitely stay there again. We had a great time!

Room was bigger and better than anything that I could have asked for. Cleanliness was really unbelievable for a hotel that isn't new. Little disappointed when we received a "voucher" for breakfast only to find out later that there was an additional charge. When I made the lady aware of our surprise she was of no help. Still the hotel was so nice that I wouldn't want that to sway you negatively. I don't think that there is a better value in NY. And that is what we needed.

The hotel service, location and size of the room was great, We really enjoyed our stay their.

We loved the hotel and they gave us an upgrade just because we asked if there was an upgrade available. Staff was great and very friendly and knowledgeable. We will visit this hotel again and again. Excellent location.

I stayed 10 days in that hotel and I could say was OK for the money I paid. Compare to other hotels more money and less room. My other friends stayed at another hotel and complaint a lot about the size. The only thing I hate from this hotel was the "clean service". They were too compulsive. If you were not out of the room by 8:00am they were constantly coming , opening doors just waitin g for them to have the opportunity to get inside and clean. If you put the little sign at the door , they will constantly call you to check at what time you want your services.The other thing is the front desk people. They were not too friendly. They were there to help when you needed but they were very cold.

I would have liked some extra counter space for toiletries in the bathroom. An ironing board would have been a great 'nice to have'. Otherwise our stay was very good.

Not a bad hotel considering this is Manhattan. The hotel is quite old and the location very tight. But for the price and location, not a bad deal.

If you want a hotel that is close to all amenities this is the hotel for you. Within 5 minute walking distance of Central Park and Fifth Avenue where Abercrombie and Fitch, Van Cleef, Tiffany's and Prada are almost your corner shops. Broadway is a 10/15 minute walk. The hotel was immaculate - $4 breakfast definitely good value and set us up for the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only very slight negative was that you could only cash a $50 travellers cheque each day but there is a bank on the corner.

Even though the hotel was a bit older, the location was awesome. Nice breakfast in the hotel for $4.00. Would stay again and recommend.

My niece and I stayed in a room with 2 double beds, fridge and microwave for a week. I was looking for a convenient, clean, and safe place to sleep and that is what we got. It is not fancy, but quite adequate and the age gives it a certain charm. I expected to spend much more for a hotel in NYC. We ate breakfast in the hotel twice and it was good - for occasional use, but it would get old if used too often. A couple of mornings we had to leave the hotel before the breakfast service started at 7:00. I used a computer in the lobby to access the internet to check in for the flight home and print boarding passes. I paid about $5 for 30 minutes access. There was a 15 minute option for less, but I'm slow. Billing for the computers in the lobby is not via the hotel - you pay with a credit card on the computer. I recommend Angelos Pizza which is next to the Salisbury. The lasagna is delicious. The grocery store on the corner of 57th and Broadway is good for getting a few supplies. We rented bicycles near Central Park on our last morning in NYC and thoroughly enjoyed a 2 hour ride before we checked out.

We got the one bedroom suite and it was AWESOMELY big and just blocks from Central Park -- the staff was nice but the elevators were EXTREMELY slow -- you have to pay 10 bucks a day for internet and $4.00 for breakfast (continental) whereas other hotels i have been in for this price have both for free-- overall it was great -- it's very upper Manhattan -about 20 or more blocks from the Theater district, Times Sqaure etc but perfect for Central Park and 5th Avenue shopping.

We stayed at the Salisbury Hotel in New York for 6 nights. I had reserved two rooms and when we arrived they upgrade us to a suite so we could stay as a family. The suites were a very nice size and it was great to be able to stay together. The hotel is located two blocks from Central Park and half a block each way from the subway station. We found it to be a very good location for sight seeing. There are restaurants and a grocery within a block. I would highly recommend this motel to my friends and if we ever vacation in New York again we will definitely stay here.

The hotel was conveniently located in downtown NYC, close to many intersting attractions such as theaters, restaurants, and well-known department stores. The staff were very professional and pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. The parking garage rate was reasonable.

Great size rooms, great location except for the construction right next door. Jackhammers at the break of dawn woke everyone up.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to Central Park, shopping, museums, etc. The room was a good size and comfortable enough. Three complaints - smell of the hallway and a little bit in the rooms, water temperature in the shower fluctuates from comfortable to extremely hot and the wait for the elevator can be a long time. There was also a lot of noise at night from traffic and construction and the room was not soundproofed. It is an old building which gives it character, but drawbacks accompany this fact. Overall for the price I was satisfied.

My daughter and I stayed here for eight nights and thought that it was ideally situated for sightseeing. Our room was large with very comfortable beds. There was a very welcome coffee making facility and fridge and an iron and ironing board. The staff were helpful at arranging transport to the airport with a shuttle company. Our only complaint was the shower water which fluctuated between cold and scalding. Otherwise perfect value for money hotel.

We've stayed at this hotel in the past and would recommend it to others. Both times we stayed we were taking advantage of a special discount on the room rates, so we were very pleased on both occasions. The rooms are pleasant and the location is great--close to Central Park and Times Square. The elevators are old and slow, but due to the age of building, it's just part of the charm. The discounted continental breakfast offered to the guests is a great bargain. I would stay at this hotel again.
