I was disapointed in that a a Hilton hotel lacked service and the room did not even have bottled water of a mini bar from which to purchase. The service at the bar lacked profesionalism and the service providers were more interested in the basketball game than on the clients.

I liked the location, close to Old San Juan. I didn't like the beach, it is too small and the sand and water color wasn't what I was expecting. San Juan is beautiful because of Old San Juan, if you are looking for a nice beach go somewhere else out of San Juan metropolitan area. The room looked old and smelled bad.

I loved the open air lobby; the spanish speaking parrots were an addded plus for my kids; the desk clerks were very pleasant and always smiling. we arrived at the hotel at 3pm(check in is at 4pm); the desk clerk suggested leaving our luggage with the luggage clerk and we had gone to one of the locker rooms and put our swimsuits on. Visually, the Caribe Hilton is stunning.

Very nice hotel, and reasonably priced for good value.Expected courtesy transportation to and from hotel to be included, but this was not. Taxi cost US$ 20.Also,complimentary breakfast should have been included for price charged.Good location with cheap bus route nearby to Old San Juan, which was delightful, and the people of Puerto Rico were cheerful and friendly, including the hotel staff. The hotel beach was not the finest in the Caribbean, but satisfactory. Website service was good and available in public areas of the hotel, but in the rooms ,they charged a steep US$ 15 over a 24 hr period. This was disapppointing. Overall, however, very good.

Our stay was very nice. The staff were great and responsive. The only issue we and many other guests had was that the air conditioning did not work properly. If it was on, it would keep getting colder until you turned it off. The thermostats were non functional You either were cold or hot. All of the restaurants in the hotel were extremely expensive. Like dining on Park avenue. The hotel was short cab ride from Old San Juan where the food was great and inexpensive. We had a great time visiting Old San Juan and found the people to be extremely friendly. The main attraction of this hotel is that it has it's own private beach. It was lovely and the kids really enjoyed it. There were many pools, whirlpools and hot tubs as well. I would certainly recommend this hotel especially to someone who could afford it. We did have a great time even if we did pay more than we had budgeted...

This hotel is absolutely beautiful!! Better than pics online. It is the only hotel with their own private beach. They are so close to downtown old san juan. I would still drive and not walk downtown. Parking is only $3 on Recinto Sur street. This hotel is also close to the Condado area which has really nice hotels and bars/restaurants. The staff was really nice. Our glass shower was leaking on the floor and I mentioned it to the staff and they changed our room and upgraded us to a junior suite. The bathroom wasnt as nice actually (it was a tub with a shower curtain) but the room was a little bigger with a couch and 2 chairs. Loved this place!!!!

Positives: The common areas (lobby, bar, restaurants, pool, beach) were nice as well as clean. The location was nice and if you're adventurous, it's near a busline that will take you into Old San Juan for 80 cents!!!!!! A taxi will cost you $12-14 depending on the driver. You do the math. The staff was friendly and attentive and they have ice water in the lobby with fresh lemon, grapefruit or strawberries to choose from. Negatives: The "rennovated" rooms were a different story. NEVER have I stayed at a Hilton brand hotel with rooms this AWFUL! Paris would NEVER stay in a room like ours and from talking with people by the pool, theirs were the same or worse. Let's start with the FILTHY windows that had caulking exposed. Then we move to the toilet that moved when you sat on it. Now let's go to the gashes in the wall and the chipped desk top with the sticky cup stains. Now, turning our attention to the bathtub faucet that was pulled away from the wall. From there you'll find a drain that's rusted and had stained the tub. A quick look to the right and you'll see tiles that are about to come off and broken caulking around the base. The door frame looked like there was water damage and inside the closet the bar had holes near it. The ironing board was rickety and they used a HAND TOWEL for the padding! That's right...I said a HAND TOWEL! The comforter had a tear in it and the carpet was gross. This, good people, was a RENNOVATED ROOM. I wrote a letter to Hilton's CEO and their Global CEO and included pics. b/c that was just how upset were. Yes you go to San Juan for the beaches and sites/sights but you have to be comfortable doing the necessisary things in your room (sleeping, bathing, eliminating waste).

Usually every year for my birthday My sister and I go to South Beach, Miami and stay at a 5 star hotel. She convinced me to go to Puerto Rico and stay at this hotel which I knew nothing about. From the time we pulled up to the hotel and checked in I was extremely impressed. The lighting in the lobby was beautiful and we heard some inviting Puerto Riccan music. When we were given our room assignment we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were on the executive level! This meant that we could enjoy the complimentary lounge which included continental breakfast and hor d'oeuvres. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool area. We heard no construction and slept soundly in the climate controlled room. The hotel has its own private secluded section of the beach with complimentary umbrellas and beach towels. We were offered beach side service and we never had to leave our lounge chairs. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The day of my birthday we went to Morton's Steakhouse (on site) and the service was excellent. When they heard that it was my birthday they gave me a complimentary cheesecake with a candle and took a picture of my sister and I and gave us that in a frame. Overall, our experience was wonderful, I felt like I was in paradise.

Hotel exceeded our expectations. The lobby and grounds were beautiful. The pools and private beach were absolutely picturesque, relaxing and well maintained. The room was beautifully appointed, down comforter, great beds, etc. The view from the main hotel was gorgeous. The only negative that can be said was when we first arrived, they told us we were going to be put in the Hilton Villas, on the other side of the grounds, far from the beach and looking more towards downtown. I politely told them that I had not booked a room at the Villas but had booked an oceanview room at the Hotel. They were very nice about it, did not make an issue of it and found an appropriate room. So just make sure you get what you ordered. In all other respects, a perfect stay.

From the moment you pull up to the lobby you are greated with smiling faces, whether they were from employees or from other guests. When you first arrive you enter an open lobby area which has amazing views of the ocean and the infinity pool or a group of three beautiful and talkative parrots. Carlos checked us in and he was incredibly friendly, efficient and helpful. He invited us to feel free to contact him if he could make our stay better. Delores in the tower was also very sweet and helpful. She made sure that my father and stepmom were assigned the same floor when they checked a few days later. Both rooms were beautiful. We were on the 19th floor and our view was breathtaking. We had views of Condado, the marina and the Fort. When we stepped out on to the patio we could hear the waves crashing on the rocks and we could also see mountains in the distance. The bathroom was incredible, we had a gorgeous shower with a "rain" shower head but also a manual shower arm. There was also a built in bench which was excellent for shaving my legs. The private beach was fantasic-clear emerald water. You could be neck deep and still see your feet with clarity. There was free towels service and free noodles. When you picked up your towels you could also request an umbrella which they will put up for you. Near the beach there was an area with hammocks where you could read a book or stargaze with your significant other. There was always a pleasant breeze to keep you cool and comfortable. The pools were also very nice and very clean! There is a swim up bar and Jose and Juan Carlos (?) always made fantastics drinks and were eager to hear about whatever excursions you may have engaged in. Overall this was a fantastic vacation. I only have two pieces of advice, do not do the excursions through the hotel- rent a car that has a GPS. It will come out cheaper and you can really do what you want to do for as long as you want to do it. The other advice is to try

I have been to San Juan several times, but thanks to the Caribe Hilton, I enjoyed this stay most of all. It is convenient to the airport, is on the ocean, and is relatively close to old town San Juan. My room was very nice and the airconditioning worked extremely well. But, what I like about it best was the beauty and serenity of the grounds. Nice pools, palm trees everwhere and a great view of the ocean. My wife an I spent the afternoon in the shade of one of their outdoor restaurants nursing a pitcher of mojita's and then after a while in our room, went to the Lemongrass restuarant (also outside) and had a lovely dinner. My sea bass was excellent and my wife's duck was superb. I would definately stay there again.

This is a fairly nice, if older, hotel that I have stayed at before. The pool area is extremely nice and the restaurants are quite good. One issue that I had on my recent trip was when the water pump sending water to the main building (where I was staying) broke and the hotel used the pump in the tower building to redirect water to the main building. This happened the morning of my last day while I was getting ready to go to the air port. For about 30 mintues the water pressure was extremely low and then when it returned to normal the water that came out of the shower and faucet was dirty. I went to the counter to complain and the manager explained to me what had happened. He was quite nice and appologized. However, I would expect more than an appology for having dirty water in such a higher-end hotel.

I don't want to write a book, so I'll keep this brief... The Caribe Hilton was a perfect place to stay: Great Service, unbelievably comfortable king size bed, Clean, Great Beach, Excellent Pool, and great shops for food and supplies on it's campus. What I didn't like is a little beyond the hotels control...maybe. The constant hum of the propeller engined planes that fly overhead. This place is clearly close to the runway of a small airport. Each time one of those small planes take off, it flies over the hotel. The other thing is the VERY expensive taxis!!!! These guys are like some sort of secret society, because they all seem in on the hustle of charging outrageous prices AND OF COURSE there is no meter on board. You just have to take the driver's word for it that driving for 3 minutes equals 12 bucks!!!! Otherwise, I LOVED MY STAY AT THE CARIBE HILTON!!!!

The hotel is beautiful. The grounds are peaceful and the location is great to the pier if you are leaving on a cruise. I think that the resturants on the premises are a bit pricey. This hotel is great if you get one without ants in the bathroom, if you have kids, and don't mind spending a lot on food. To be expected the restaurants were very expensive and the service was great once they noticed you. There is one exception: The Madrid-San Juan Tapas Restaurant: the food was well priced and fabulous with a wonderful staff. We would have eaten there nightly had we not found it until the end of our trip. The pool doesn't seem to get cleaned on weekdays. And we had small ants in our bathroom...they sprayed some cleaner around...it didn't help. No other rooms were open so we just got used to it. Ultimately it was ok, but I don't think we'll stay there agan.
