My wife and I spent five nights here while on vacation. We had an excellent stay. Our only disappointment was the price of laundry service. In the second week of our travels, we needed a better option for clean clothes. The location to the Underground and theatres set us up for all of our week’s adventures. We highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was very convenient to the Embankment Tube station. Can easily walk to Trafalgar Square, Westminster and across the Thames on the pedestrian walkway to the London Eye and a handful of "take away" or dine in restaurants. Rooms were small but modern, clean and comfortable. The tub was very deep so it was a big step to get in/out of the shower. The halls were for the most part, quiet at night, but in the morning the doors slamming w/ guests leaving and housekeeping entering was very annoying! The doors are heavy, but clearly the walls are thin too! Be aware that the "business center" consists of two computers in two different rooms. Only one has printing ability and it was down 6 of the 8 days of my trip. Often had to wait at least 30 minutes for internet access.

The Royal Horseguards Hotel was beyond our expectations. We arrived at the hotel after spending twelve days traveling Europe and were impressed by what the hotel had to offer. The room was very clean and extremely nice. It was close to both Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square. I defintely recommend this hotel!

We stayed at this hotel as were going to the Trooping of the Colour - an excellent location. Although we had booked 'room only' we did decide to have the breakfast for which we payed extra. We thought this was quite expensive at £17.50 each but was convenient for us at the time. Would definitely use this hotel again.

For the price, this hotel is unrivaled. The rooms were magnificent and state-of-the-art, and had more space compared to some of the other hotels we visited. The location could not be topped, it was walking distance from Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the Eye. The restaurant was very expensive but worth it.

Arrived at 8:45 AM in the morning after a long day of travelling from New York, check in was posted at 2 PM, I was intending to leave my bags with concierge while I did some sightseeing, I was pleasantly suprised to be told that a room was ready for me immediately. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and attentive. They helped with maps and information on sights, as soon as other guests arrived or were getting off the elevator staff ran over to help carry bags. The room was large by UK standards, flat screen TV, coffee and tea maker in room, bathrobe, slippers, TV in bathroom and best of all heated towel rail and heated floor in bathroom. Location is excellent, one block from horseguards parade, across from London eye, could walk to everything in London. Definitely will stay there again, GREAT VALUE

As you approach the hotel you begin to think this could have been the right choice. When you check in the staff are polite, but pleasant. willing to help you and ensure everything is available to you. The room was well equiped and the decor was subtle but very smart. It is in an extremeley good position, over looking the Thames, but with in very easy distance of the likes of Covent Garden, Theatre Land etc.... The area seems very peaceful but near the attractions. Our stay here was extremely pleasureable. Would we come again? - Most definately.

The Hotel is pleasing to look at and well situated. They advertise as having smoking rooms but there are none. They offer a complimentary newspaper each day but we got ours twice out of a possible 5 and a lot of phone calls in between. Room service has the potential to be good but they forgot items listed and then brought them late and cold. Not a very customer oriented Hotel.

To the point: 1. Front Desk is not warm nor particularly helpful. Checking in early? Don't count on it. Room upgrades, you can do but it most likely cost you. 2. Rooms are very nice. The shower floor was very dirty, rather gross. Other than that, room was nicely appointed and clean. 3. IPod docking stations. You can blast your music throughout your room and bathroom. Downside, you can hear rooms next door if they are playing their music. 4. Location, can't do much better than that. Close to Tube and plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

Excellent hotel! I've stayed in several hotels in London and this was the best one. The price was competitive with other hotels but the location beats them all. The Strand, London Eye,Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Covent Garden, 2 tube stops, St James Park/Buckingham Palace (and more) are all in walking distance. If not familiar with London, definitely book your stay with breakfast. The selections are great with both hot and cold food. Concierge was very accommodating. Could not say anything negative about this hotel.

Wanted a good location with good service for a romantic weekend. Got it all at the Horseguards. Fantastic location, 5 mins walk from Leicester square and onto the nightlife but nice and quiet when you get back. Absolutely fantastic view over the river, looking straight out onto the Eye. Room is not huge but very well appointed, got the king size bed and it was oh so comfortable. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Bit of building work going on at the entrance but nothing to worry about noise wise. You get what you pay for but having said that it wasnt too expensive.

Location, Location. Beautiful hotel located next to the River Thames. We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. It is so easy to get to the tube from the hotel. The embankment station is just 1 block away. The footbridge across the river is 1 block away. For us it was so easy to get to everything. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was extremely helpful. We were confused about where our theatre was but they got out a map and helped us locate it and what tube station to use to get there. Our breakfast was included and the breakfast was good. Excellent service in the restaurant. Great place to stay.

We chose the Hotel because of its wonderful central location. Unfortunately for our friends and ourselves we were given rooms with scaffolling with contruction right outside our windows. They were the two worst rooms in the Hotel. They did change our rooms to the opposite side of the building but the rooms had an internal view of a 30 foot internal air shaff and the jack hammering was still audible. We were also very dissappointed with the "attitude" at the reception desk. We had requested a view room and they said they had no record of that? When we got the bill they also charged us for a Continental Breakfast which had been "advertised" as included. We had no recourse but to pay. Their lack of hospitality and customer service certainly left us with a very negative impression. We will definitely chose a diferrent hotel on the next trip!

We stayed at the Royal Horseguards Thistle Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. At first glance, the hotel seemed perfect. The location was great and the room was okay. It was a little small but it was adequate for a couple. When we checked in, I was surprised to find out that although I was clear that I was staying there with my fiance, we were booked in a room with two twin beds. I asked for a room with a double bed and was told that there wasn't one available that wasn't a smoking room. If I paid an extra 25 pounds per night then, I could be upgraded to a non-smoking room. I felt like I had no choice - I didn't want to stay in a room with twin beds and definitely not in a smoking room. So the cost of the room went up by about $50 per night (horrible exchange rate this year). The concierge in this hotel was not very knowledgeable. On multiple occasions they pointed us to incorrect locations and provided incorrect information. We had wanted to walk to one location and the concierge insisted that we take a taxi. We discovered that we could have walked and enjoyed the city a bit more. We didn't have the food in the hotel (even though breakfast was included in the price), so I am not able to comment on that. There was also no iron in the room, so make sure you request one up front so that you are not waiting for it while you are getting ready to go out. There was a gym in the building but it was small and there were no windows and just a few machines. We went instead to another local gym. Unfortunately, the hotel did not have gym passes for the local gyms etc. Overall, the hotel was okay. In this time where the exchange rate is not in the favor of the Americans, it was a good find. The location is amazing. Right across from the London Eye.

A well appointed hotel located opposite the London Eye and Festival Hall. Good for access to the embankment and within easy walking distance of Trafalger Square, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. Far enough away from the Oxford Street, Regent Street, Knightsbridge and South Ken shopping magnets to make it relaxing. If you want to get to them the hotel is only a couple of minutes from Embankment and Charing Cross stations. Plenty of good places around to eat ranging from fast food to decent French/Italian with Chinatown only 10 minutes walk away. On one night of our stay we decided not to venture out in the torrential rain and ate in the hotel restaurant which was a pleasant surprise. Although the menu was quite limited, the presentation, quality and service was excellent with an adequate (but quite expensive) wine list. This quality was continued at breakfast with a good, very fresh hot and cold buffet. Our room was good (free upgrade to superior without asking) on a previous stay we had a suite which was also excellent. Room service was prompt and courteous and all members of staff we came into contact with were helpful and friendly. We've only ever stayed at weekends which is very peaceful so have no idea if it's the same on weekdays. As a regular hotel user for business and leisure the Royal Horseguards is a firm favourite.

The hotel had very friendly staff. The room was nice perhaps needing a little tlc around the edges. I paid an extra supplement to secure a room over looking the Thames - I wouldn't choose a room on the Thames side again as it was very noisy due to the traffic and the trains on the railway bridge. The location of the hotel made most parts of central London very accessible.

Service in the hotel was excellent. Staff polite and very helpful. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Room did not have a view, but was spacious, clean and bed was soft and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and usual choice of continental style and full English breakfast. Due to inclement weather during evening we decided stayed in hotel for evening meal, our original plan being to eat at local restaurant (need to book). We had 3 course meal at resident rates which was great value and food/service was exceptional. We were not disappointed. Drinks are pricey, but we expected this in London hotel.

The Hotel is close to all amenities; walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden; Theatres and Horseguards Parade. The London Eye is right opposite. The only negative thing we will say is that there weren't any robes in the bedroom, as stated on their website. This is not a complaint just a reminder! Great location on the Enbankment. Only two real issues. The TV provided in our room was in a fixed poistion facing away from the bed so we were unable to watch TV from the comfort of our bed. The second issue was the shower. After turning the shower on it quickly became apparent that standing infront of it caused water to spray all over the bathroom making the tile floor very slippy and dangerous. I feel a bigger shower curtain could help to avoid this as the glass partition offered no real shelter
