Melia Barajas - Madrid

This hotel was a very big and pleasant surprize for us. The lobby, halls, dining rooms and all guest rooms are very large, modern and on the elegant side. The room service was very good and the food excellent. The only reason we are rating it with 4 stars is that the beautiful outdoor pool was closed for maintenance the day we were there, yet we saw no one even attempt to work on the pool all day and it was closed again the next day when we left. The enclosed grounds surrounding the pool are gorgeous. One big note: this hotel is completely fenced and the security is top notch. This one feature is very meaningful; furthermore they have a regular (every 15 minutes) shuttle for the one mile trip to Barajas Airport beginning at 6:00 a.m. We also noticed that many airline personnel from a variety of internationl airlines stayed there. So many sun bathing stewardesses was a real treat, open pool or not! My wife felt particularly safe in their company and that suited me just fine.

Great overall experience. Very convenient to the airport and has great access to public transportation. The hotel is clean, quiet and overall a great place to stay.

Overnight hotel stays between flights are never a fun thing for me, especially if I am on holiday. Having said that, the staff at the Melia Barajas in Madrid just might change my mind... When I got to the hotel after taking the shuttle (which I did have to call at Terminal 4, I will say), I was welcomed be an very friendly bellboy and an even friendlier front desk person. As my flight was only the next day late in the afternoon, I was already preparing my schtick for the receptionist as to why they should give me a late check out, at least until 1 PM so I would not have to hang around the airport for too long. Before I could open my mouth, she asked me what time my flight was the next day and immediately offered a more than adequate late check-out. Needless to say, with the UEFA Championship game between Barcelona and Man U being played that night I would stay at the hotel, I found myself smiling more broadly then usual. The room was very nice, clean, well decorated, comfortable. The bed was just the right stiffness for my bad back, and room service was fast, cordial and tasty. The breakfast buffet the next day had a nice variety, everything seemed fresh, and the staff continued their friendly trend. Check-out (spontaneously-offered very adequate late check-out, in case you had forgotten) was fast and with no errors. Not to mention a nice "Hasta luego" bracketed by smiles left and right. Bottom-line: I loved my between flights overnight stay at the Melia Barajas, and I would recommend you to stay there if you had to to the same, no holds barred.

I woke up w little bites and have a concern there were bed bugs, which is curious because the room seemed very clean, it was a very nice room! The staff at Melia is fantastic.

This hotel is very conveniently located to the Madrid Airport with a free shuttle. It is in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants off the main street. There is a Metro station a short walk from the hotel that takes you swiftly into downtown Madrid. The hotel is very elegant and the staff very friendly and hospitable. Our room was gigantic and beautifully decorated with a chrome and granite bathroom and a lovely deep soaking tub. There's an attractive cocktail lounge serving light meals and a full-service restaurant. Also, a pool and grounds not to be found at in-town hotels. I would happily recommend this hotel.

Everything was fantastic with the exception of the breakfast buffet. I was requested a plate of fruit and received a bill for 37 Euro... Other than that, it was fantastic. The shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient.

The breakfast buffet was nice although a little pricey for the casual traveler. If you were planning to enjoy the buffet and anticipated the price and amount of food you would enjoy more.

The room was larger then expected in Europe; and they gave nice tapas and cookies and chocolates in the bar with each drink.

Great decor, friendly staff, a lot of extra services and frills, and the free shuttle to the airport is a godsend.

Très bon hôtel, très bon rapport qualité-prix surtout si pris au dernier moment!! Petit bémol : la liaison avec l'aéroport, la nuit c 'est un bus qui dessert plusieurs hôtel qui se charge du service. Comme on l'a pas trouvé nous avons dû prendre un taxi, dans les 15 euros avec les charges d'aéroport. Room service parfait, piscine mais pas toujours ouverte, cela dépend du temps. Mais j'y retournerai avec plaisir

très propre et confortable. très bien situé près de l'aéroport. Le restaurant est excellent.
