The hotel is easy to get to and really well positioned for both business and leisure. the price was good as well. The staff were all very helpful. In the lobby the place has obviously undergone some renovation and it looked modern, clean and efficient. My single room on Floor 6 was adequate though small, had seen better days and was incredibly hot even with the window open. The bathroom needed a bit of TLC. Overall though not bad and for that price I would probably go again.

This hotel is located centrally, close to Covent Garden on the Strand with a bus stop to Victoria Station and other points across the road. The hotel is very large and busy and the decor is nothing special. The rooms have good-sized, comfortable beds for London standards. An electric kettle in the room, but no fridge. Minus points for not being able to open the window more than 3 inches / 10 cm despite a warm/stuffy room, and for the shower/bath set into a slanted roof, so that I couldn't stand up properly in the shower. Otherwise clean and breakfast was worth the extra 5 pounds paid at booking. Arrive early for breakfast (8 a.m. at the latest) or you'll have to line up for a table.

Comentado por Sandi, deTitusville, Fl, el sep 2, 2009
This was my fifth stay at the hotel. I go to London about twice a year to go to the theatre. The location is wonderful, as I am able to walk to virtually every theatre, and I stay off the overcrowded, problematic public transport system. However, buses and tube stations are nearby if needed. Close to Trafalgar Square, Westminister, etc. Upgraded to a club single, and saw no different between the club and standard room, besides a more contemporary colour scheme and painting. The breakfast was more than adequate, and I never had to wait in line. Numerous restaurants are in the area. After one episode of food poisoning from eating fish during a dinner at Strand Palace (Johnstons Brasserie)and management refusing to remove the charge from the bill, I will not eat anything there besides breakfast. The pass to the Virgin Active gym is nice. Just across the street, and nice pool, sauna, hot tub, etc. Staff was mostly courteous and helpful. The interior rooms are a bit quieter. Only big issue is the stupidity of having only one window in the room open about 5 inches. This is"for health and safety reasons" More government interference for no reason! The small fan provided helped. Also the safe was mounted on the top shelf of the closet with the door opening outward. The only was to access it was by standing on a chair, and feeling around inside the safe, since you couldn't look inside easily, due to the location. Cannot wait to get back to London in a few months and plan to stay again.

The best thing about the Strand Palace was the location, so close to all the theatres and Covent Garden - we were able to walk to the Queens Theatre and see a lot of the sites without using taxis. The hotel was impressive when you first walked in but we were a bit disappointed with the room - it was supposed to be a club room but it wasn't very big and was very hot being on the 8th floor (they did provide a fan but it wasn't very effective). However it was clean and in good condition and had a nice tv (although most channels you had to pay for). The breakfast the next day was great - fantastic selection. All staff were very polite and helpful. We would go back but we might be a bit more fussy about what room we have next time.

Booked this hotel for its location and closeness to the Lyceum Theatre which was a one min walk away. Room was clean, beds comfortable and breakfast offered a wide variety of food from cooked to cereal or pastries. Impressed because they also offered Soya milk when I asked. However, I put a three for the comfort of the room because the room was extremely hot due to the London heat and lack of air conditioning which made sleeping difficult, however, there was a fan in the room when we arrived which cooled the room down slightly. All staff very friendly, never found an ice machine which would have been nice considering the thirty degree London heat! They store your luggage for a small fee after you've cheked out if you still want to explore the city without a suitcase. Would recommend this hotel to anybody!

I stayed at The Strand Palace for seven nights and enjoyed every night. The hotel room was suprisingly roomy for a normal hotel room in London (small by American standards but for London it was big.) The location was wonderful; only two blocks from Covent Garden and three blocks from Trafalger Square with Tube stops at both. I faced an inner courtyard so my room was very quiet, however, if I faced the street it might have been a little louder. The Strand neighborhood is wonderful with lots of shops and places to eat at all hours of the day. I recommend this hotel 100%.

For what I thought was a reasonable price, the hotel was good value. The lady on reception was helpful and gave me a choice of room which I thought was a really good start. The room was clean and tidy and had useful items such as a hair dryer and also a fan. I used the fan as I found the room to be a bit hot even though the heating was not on. The staff were helpful and I had an alarm call at no extra cost and extra milk for my coffee was also given free of charge. The hotel is situated in a nice area of London and was easy to find from Covent Garden and is within really easy reach of theatres and other avenues of entertainment. Included in the cost of the tarif was the opportunity to obtain a fitness pass for the Virgin Gym just across the road. I took advantage of this and had a good work-out. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and was happy that I made a good choice of hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights which were two nights to many. There was no airco in the room and since there where lots of sounds from outside, I had to sleep with the windows closed. I Couldn't sleep well for hours because of the heat. I also bought a voucher for wireless internet. But when I wanted to log on to the closed system of the Strand Hotel Palace, there was no inlog code availiable. Nobody of the personel could help me out, since no one know what this code was. The Inlog name and code for the website of the Strand where there, but they didn't work for the general inlog code. The employees that I called didn't listen well to my stroy and allready draw their conclusions before I was finished with speaking. The wrong conclusions, of course :-( It took me a couple of hours to figure all of this out. Hours in which I could have worked. In order to use some of the precious working time that was left, I had to return the voucher and move to a friends place. That was somewhere else in the city. All of this trouble made me realize again that so called BIG and LUXORIOUS hotels are fake. Thank you, I'll never come again.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and was pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Many rooms are now "Club" (business-class) rooms, which are upgraded (I had hoped for air-conditioning, but a fan was provided in the room). The location can't be beat for attending the theatre! There are several main bus routes directly across from the hotel and it is easy to get everywhere in London, usually on one bus. Covent Garden is nearby, with many good restaurants in the vicinity. I will definitely return to this hotel.

This is in a fantastic location - really central. The tube station is about 5 mins walk and be warned that there are steps if you're carrying luggage. The hotel charges for leaving your luggage after check-out, but you only find out the specifics (currently £2 per item per day) when you go to the luggage room. Also, no free wifi. It's a bit noisy - you can hear doors slam - but then, it's a busy hotel. The decor was a bit shabby in my room, but it was clean and that was my priority. It was comfortable and had all the facilities.

We paid an enormous amount of money for two nights at an inadequate hotel. It must have been the hottest two days London has seen because they were warning everyone to carry water. This hotel has no air conditioning in the rooms. For two Americans, air conditioning is a must especially when it's hot. The lack of airconditioning created a miserable stay. We also had to do laundry, and they charged an insane fee for each article. Would never stay here again, or recommend anyone else to stay here.

After I complained to the night manager he moved me to the 5th floor, once again the room was the same as the first but not as noisy. I would never go back. This was my birthday treat and the drinks were on my boyfriend but instead I had to pay £32 to go to the bathroom. The staff spoke to me as if I was a theaf and was going to run of the hotel. I have stayed in many hotels before and have never been treated like this. If they have a policy for paying for drinks up front they should let customers know when they purchase their drinks. My advice- Stay somewhere where you know you will get good customer service!!!!! Very poor and insulting staff!
