sobre value="10""One star room in 5 star hotel"
Comentado por Jeanie, dePalos Heights, el jul 29, 2008
I have traveled to Europe 15 times in the last ten years and this is the WORST room I have ever stayed in - actually in my entire life, it is the worst room. The paint was peeling; the bathroom faucet was almost impossible to turn off (the maintenance person worked for over two hours to get it to marginally work); the carpet was so worn and filthy that I did not want to even walk on it with shoes, much less bare feet. I have never complained before, but I could not be silent on this one. We were given another room which was only marginally better - this one was a step up from zero stars to one star. No improvement in appearance but at least the faucets worked. My attempts to speak with the hotel management went for naught - he was never available. My next attempt resulted in a more recently renovated room - perhaps, at best, a three star. I have booked with hotels.com many times and have always received a room equivalent to the star rating until this time. I have stayed in at least six other hotels in Paris, all of which were wonderful and far exceeded the accommodations of this so called five star hotel. The only five star rating I could see were the exterior and the lobby! Hotels.com should request to see room 340 and 227 when they do their evaluation of hotels. They are a disgrace to even the lowest budget class hotel. Luckily, I do not spend much time in the room and would not let this ruin my vacation. I would avoid this hotel. There are so many wonderful ones to chose from in Paris.

Comentado por Steven, deAtlanta, el jul 28, 2008
The std. rooms are tiny, have worn carpets and mine was next to the HVAC unit for the lobby, so it was noisy all the time. The superior rooms are OK,but pricey. The hotel is in a good location though, but too expensive for what you get.

Comentado por un huésped de Hotels.com el mar 27, 2008.
We've stayed here several times and have always loved it. This time, however, I noticed that the room, which was extremely small (and priced accordingly), needed some paint and the furniture needed to be replaced. But the exterior of the hotel is magnificent, the public spaces are beautiful, and the location in Saint Germain is perfect.

It's a great place in the tradition of nice European hotels. The staff was excellent. Our room was probably the smallest that they offer, but clean and comfy. The location is great--1/2 mile from the Louvre in a great little shopping district. I'd definitely stay there again.

The hotel has a great reputation, but we were astounded at the worn and stained carpet, cracked and stained sink and extraordinarily small room. We expected small rooms but this was extreme. The bathroom was a very nice size but in need of fixing.

Excellent price for this beautiful landmark hotel built in 1910. Has been updated with large beautiful bathrooms. Airconditioning worked well. Location is good on Left Bank. Other hotels closer to Sorbonne have smaller rooms and lack amenities like airconditioning. Short walk to restaurants, Blvd. St. Germain and Musee D'Orsay. Metro stop Babylone-Severes on corner. Hotel restaurant is very expensive, but there are many local restaurants, none of which I would call inexpensive. There are several nearby patisseries for morning croissant and coffee. I would definitely return here.

The outside of the Lutetia looks like a fabulous hotel, all of the lobbies reflect the same. If you do stay here, make sure to ask for a new remodeled room but even those, the walls are so paper thin, you can hear your neighbor practically breathe!! FOr the money we paid, not worth it and I am sure there were newer hotels we could have stayed at that were better. Location is not bad though and a lot of shopping and cafes right outside the door

I have stayed at the Lutetia many time and have always enjoyed it. The Concierge Desk is outstanding and very helpful. Rooms are spacious unless you get a Standard, which is still larger than most rooms at this price. The bathrooms are nicely equipped and very spacious. Best of all, the location is superb. There is a metro stop across the street (Sevre/Babylone) and it's near Blvd. St. Germaine. Bon Marche is a block away and has a terrific food court. Can't say enough about the location.
