My girlfriend and I booked a room at the Hyatt on the Charles River, but switched to The Mitown Hotel because it would have been an easier walk to Fenway Park (went up for a Yanks vs. Red Sox game and to see the Green Dumpster), and if need be walkig distance to other points of interest. We left the hotel at 5pm, and left the AC on full blast. We got bak around midnight and our room was a sauna- AC did not work. Their solution?? They gav us a desk fan to use overnight. They advised a maintenance guy would come the next day, but didn;t until i made more of a stink... finally they moved u to another room, and the AC worked, but then that room smelled like the buffet in an Atlantic City casino... like old clothes and mold. If you KNOW the AC doesn't work right in the room, as the maintenance guy pointed out, WHY DO YOU BOOK GUESTS IN IT??? IT WAS THE HEAT OF SUMMER, YOU CAN SWEAT IN THE SHOWER IT WAS SO HUMID AND GROSS!!!!!

Hotel was clean and neat. Courteous staff. Carpets in hallways a little worn. Room was clean although decor a little bit dated.Bed was comfortable. TV did not work but no big deal as I was just there for one night. Swimming pool looked clean and well maintained although I did not use it. Parking on site, $18 daily. Good location for the purpose of my visit. I90 nearby. Would reccomend to others looking for an inexpensive stay.

Don't let the image on this page fool you. What's important is what you can't see. This hotel is a 2-story 1970's design that probably even looked cheesy then. Things get worse on the inside. The hallway carpets have been soiled and matted, at certain points you are presented with overwhelming smells, all unpleasant. The whole building felt and appeared dank and unkempt.

We were shocked at the condition of this hotel. It was dirty, outdated and uncomfortable. Air conditioning didn't work so they brought a fan to our room. Carpet, walls and bedding looked old, washed out and dirty. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Comentado por Matt, deBaltimore, el jul 28, 2009
A group of us O's fans wanted to go to Fenway to support the home team. From the recommendations on Hotels.com, we booked the Midtown and were very happy. The hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk to Fenway, don't even think about driving, traffic becomes a nightmare. We took the duck tour which was great for the kids and the pickup point is 1 block from the hotel. The staff was great, everything was clean, we had a really nice stay.

For the price and the location (2 blocks from Prudential Center), on the same block as the Symphony T-stop on the E-line, this was a great value. Walls are a little thin, carpet seems old, but otherwise, bathroom fixtures, furniture, and amenities up to date in the room. TV on the small side, but adequate. The hotel itself is 2 stories, clearly older, not that attractive, the pool is in the center courtyard where I would feel like I was being watched all the time, vague musty smell in the hallways and it's a maze to find your room. $10/day internet is a bit pricey, but given the low cost of the room and the central location, not so bad. Overall, a good value and would recommend others to stay.

We stayed in this hotel during a visit at the Harvard Medical School Campus, for which it is conveniently located. It turned out this was the only positive point though. The hotel is run-down, depressing and dark (my room didn't have a proper window and the main light didn't work). The beds had a saggy, uncomfortable matress and the furnishings had a dated and, again, depressing look to them. At least the rooms were clean though. I cannot recommend this hotel at all, especially If you are in town on business - it is certainly not the kind of place you look forward to for relaxing after a long and stressful working day. There was no free wifi internet - not even in the lobby. Staff were professional but not particularly friendly. We had planned to stay for a week but left after two nights and moved to a nicer hotel.

We chose this hotel for one night during a college search. It is walking distance from Northeastern and a short T ride from BU. It was simple accommodation, no frills. The look of it is very 1950's without any retro-chic about it. The TV was old; I wouldn't waste any money trying to watch a movie on it. The toilet ran every once in a while. But otherwise it was fine. The most important thing is that the room was perfectly clean and the beds were quite comfortable. I didn't need a four-star hotel for this trip. I would definitely recommend this as good basic accommodation in a very convenient location.

The Midtown Hotel is an older building, only 2 stories high. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It would be difficult for handicapped access because the first floor rooms are up 7 steps. It's the kind of hotel that makes you want to wear slippers on the carpet, but the room itself was very clean and well-maintained. The location is its best feature. I would definitely stay here again.

We went to Boston for one night & really only needed a place to sleep. It was the least expensive hotel & within walking distance (half mile or so) from Fenway. The temperature of the room wasn't consistant. We woke up at one point due to the heat & approximately 2 hours later it had gotten very cold in our room. We would stay again if we were on a budget & weren't making a long trip out of it. It satisfied our needs.

We stayed 2 nights at the Midtown Hotel, and will probably stay there again some time. The Midtown Hotel is on Huntington Ave. directly across from Symphony Hall, and a couple minutes' walk from the Prudential. It cost about half what any other hotel in the surrounding neighborhood cost. The staff are very friendly and helpful and easy to reach. We called down for more t.p. and the gentleman brought it to our door in less than 10 minutes. It's a cozy, basic place to stay. Just basic cable, no HBO (didn't miss it), the furniture and decor looks about 20 years old, the TV 15 or so, and there are some scuffs on the walls and woodwork, but the mattresses are soft, springy, and new and the linens crisp. They aren't blowing money on redecorating to be stylish, but are spending it where it matters. The bathroom was beautifully clean. We were impressed with that. The bedroom carpet was pretty good, but there was a noticeable deposit of dust along the wall that ran behind the beds and nightstand. Moving furniture to vacuum hadn't occurred to anyone in a while, obviously. The walls are thin, so definitely bring ear plugs just in case. There is no complimentary continental breakfast (is there even a kitchen?), but some excellent dining options are within a couple minutes' walk. We were allowed to leave our car in their garage until 3PM after checkout for no additional fee, and not having to move the car while we went out to lunch and a tour of the nearby Christian Science complex was a big plus.

The staff was very friendly. Great shuttle service to the airport -- took less than 10 minutes to get a shuttle for us from the time we first asked if they had one. Concierge was very helpful. Also helped us print boarding passes. Only complaint is that wireless costs $10 per night, which could be better. Still, after a 4 night stay I was very happy with this hotel. Considering the location the price was very reasonable.
