I can't say enough good things about our experience at the Hay Adams. I have never experienced this combination of excellent customer service and beautiful surroundings; Hay Adams is like staying at the Plaza, only with a smaller facility (I consider this a plus) and without the snobbery that often comes with the high-end service at the Plaza (another plus, obviously). The management has clearly taken the time to create a well-designed experience from the moment a guest arrives to the moment he leaves. Everything is considered; nothing has been missed. We will absolutely be back.

I loved this hotel! The staff and rooms were elegant and beautiful. Nothing was missed! I could move in there tomorrow and be happy forever! The view of the White house is AMAZING~~ and if your room doesn't look out to it - they will arrange for you to go up on the roof and take pictures! the staff is as friendly as can be and very accommodating! The concierge is a true Concierge - they handle everything for you! We were lucky enough to stay in the room that was Sasha and Melia's room while they stayed there - My kids were uber impressed to sleep in the same bed as them. The only thing i didn't like about the hotel was that the lobby smelled like dog pee? There are a lot of guests with dogs - as a dog owner myself I can totally appreciate that. But I know once 1 does his business on the carpet every other dog has to!

Loved the location of the hotel. White House was just across Lafayette Park from the hotel. The Concierge Service was the best. Got us great tickets for the Lincoln Center and information on touring the Capitol. All the staff was friendly, professional and did whatever they could to make our stay memorable. Food in the restaurant and bar was pricey and not that great.

Expensive but worth it for a comfortable stay near the White House. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant - concierge gave a great recommendation for dinner. Very nice (and tolerant) of young children (ages 8 & 10). Upgrade me to a suite so we could be next to each other (needed 2 rooms b/c of 1 child/room occupancy). All around a very nice hotel to visit!!!!!!

The Hay Adams is a beautiful hotel in a terrific location, and the service is impeccable. We did have a problem with our room the first night. We were overlooking an alley and there were loud noises (deliveries probably) starting at about 5 AM. When we mentioned it to the staff, they moved us to a much quieter room. We asked for several restaurant recommendations from the concierge, and all were great and within walking distance. When we came up to our room the first night, there was a plate of cookies for our 7-yr-old son with his name spelled in chocolate, which he will never forget - what a nice touch.

Everyone from the minute you walk in is ready to help you with whatever you need. It is such a treat to go to a place with a staff that not only cares about the cleanliness but cares about you as a visitor..the two of those in one place is unusual. I am such a fan of antiques and the decor is beautiful and they sneak in all the upgrades one needs in the midst of it. Ordered breakfast and it was terrific!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who really wants to be pampered.

This hotel was comfortable but overpriced and they try to get every bit of money out of you that they can. The concierge recommended that we buy advance tickets to the Spy Museum in the hotel because it would save time by not having to stand in line. He neglected to mention that the tickets are not a deal at all. He charged us $23 each and when we got to the museum we found out it cost only $18 to get in. In addition, there was no line and only a few people there. The staff is set up to get every dime out of you they can. The valet insisted that he take our car and park it. We found out later that he just took it to a parking garage around the corner that charges $14 for overnight parking. The next day we had a $35 charge for parking on our bill. That was after we tipped the valet for parking the car. We wanted to get some food at a grocery store to save a bit of money. The concierge discouraged us from going to a Whole Foods saying it would be expensive. We got room service that night and got meals that would have cost about $35 in any restaurant. Our bill came to $78. I had a feeling that the hotel staff was a bit desperate to get every dime they could. Maybe the hotel is falling on hard times. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone not on an expense account.

I was very pleased with this hotel overall. The service was first class and the hotel was very elegant. They made me feel special and welcome! The rooms are very nice, with comfy bedding and Bose stereo system and complementary CD's to listen to. The only complaint came from my husband who is 6'6" and said the bed was way to short. If you are over 6 feet, you may completely agree. I was very comfortable. Location was great. Across the street from the White House.

Room was okay - looking, but on the small side and dusty. No complimentary bottled water, as I thought I had read would be offered. Instead, I dared to take a small FIJI water from the minibar and was charged about $7. I was also charged for candy we never consumed - the minibar had a sensor and my son had picked something up and put it back - good thing I read the bill (this was taken off). Distressing that they would charge us for the water or even full price for the room, as we were awakened at 2am by a fire alarm and loud speaker ordering us out of the hotel. After going outside into the wintery air in our pjs, we were informed that it was a false alarm. My kids were terrified - my son did not sleep for the rest of the night. We were never offered an apology - even upon checkout. When I pointed out how rude this was to the employee who handled our check out, she was dismissive. Bad business. I won't be back.

I highly recommend whether for business or for pleasure. Accomondations and the way they prepare you room in unequaled as well.

This hotel was not as great as I anticipated. The view from atop of the hotel is only open to events. Although, we were escorted to the rooftop, I was hoping to have dinner there. The room was quite small and standard. Although, the room came equipped with a Bose CD player, and CDs. The staff were accomodating. The food was okay, but not outstanding for the price. It was extremely close to the White House which was convenient, but I would not stay there again. Also, the valet was $34 which is expected.

We chose the Hay Adams based on it's location, and had no idea it is the gathering spot for the who's who of Washington. In addition to enjoying the luxury of the rooms and the ever-helpful staff, we had a great time star-spotting the various celebrities who were there during our stay.

A lovely, elegant hotel in an historic home located in the middle of Wasahington DC. One of the most gracious dining rooms we have experienced. The staff were equally gracious, friendly, and accomodating. One only had to think the need and the staff met it immediately. The bath and bed linens were very luxurious.
