Perfect location. We were on sixth floor so it was very quiet. Room was very big, comfortable and airy. Big bathroom. Twin share was fine.

The Asturias is an older, bare bones hotel in a great location. I was surprised that it didn't have air-conditioning given Madrid's heat in the summer. The staff at the front desk warned me not to take a room facing the street, but I did anyway, which I regretted due to the loud street noise lasting until 3 am each night.

This hotel was nothing more than a hostel, certainly not worth the money that I spent. The first room I was given was a far cry from the pictures posted on hotels.com. The room had peeling paint and was clearly in need of renovation. When we found a roach, it was time to go downstairs and get a different room. I noticed that the rooms were nicer on lower floors, but even my second room didn't look a thing like the pictures or what I would expect from a 2 star hotel in the US. I couldn't wait to get out of this hotel and on with my trip.

I checked in on a busy friday night. The hotel is close to all the downtown Madrid attractions but is not worth it unless you plan on only using your room for a few hours of sleep. The overall appearance of the hotel is shabby at best. This is a very old building that has severe cracks in the walls and extreme maintenance neglect. My first room was in the center of the building with threadbare sheets, a huge stain on the ceiling from a leak above, dirty walls and a window that was stuck but when opened showed the interior of..the surrounding buildings and ventilation shafts. I took pictures of all the major complaints and went down to the desk. I asked for a different room and they were hesitant, they were full it was the weekend... I took out camera and showed them all the pics and asked if their was an internet cafe near by. I got a different room in better condition except for the cracks in this room, These are superficial cracks, these are ones that you could put your credit card in half way..and the floor slanted so much I could put my tube of lipstick on the floor and it would roll all the way across the room without stopping. This place needs to be condemmed, seriously..

The location of this hotel was perfect for Central Madrid. it is very near 2 metro lines, which made it easy to get from one place to another. The hotel was also very easy to find and within walking distance to much of the city. The hotel itself was a bit run-down. The room was pretty clean, but definitely could use some work. The floor actually slanted slightly, and lamps had beat-up shades and overall was nothing special. We did have a balcony which was nice. The street below was a bit noisy during the day, but we had no problem sleeping with the windows open. Overall, great location, average hotel

This hotel was ok. It looks a lot different that in the pictures than it actually is. The hotel is quite delapidated and it is also very noisy. I was woken several times every night. There is no hair dryer in the room, remote for the tv but yet there is a bidet!!The Bed sheets were clean but had cigarette burns etc on them. The staff were not as friendly as they could have been. I don't think I would be staying here again

Comentado por un huésped de Hotels.com el ene 12, 2009.
We read past reviews on this hotel so we were somewhat prepared for the worst. The hotel itself is old which adds to it's charm, the location was perfect, and the price was acceptable. But if you want modern ammenities, comfy beds, and quiet, this isn't the hotel for you. It is located in the heart of Sol so the street noise is constant. Our daughter commented that she thought it was a former hostel, turned hotel. Our room was very cold and it was due to the ten foot ceilings, one small radiator to heat the whole room, and drafty doors that opened to a small balcony over the entrance to the hotel. But again, it was January and we hit a cold spell which is unusual for Madrid. We were there to tour the city so the room was sufficient for our needs, and we didn't mind having to be under covers to watch tv in the evenings. Bottom line - I think I'd be willing to pay a little more to find a more comfortable room in the same area.

This was very good and good value for a two-star in the middle of Madrid, but be warned: it has all the noise problems of an old Spanish building in the middle of Madrid. You might end up very sleep-deprived. The wifi costs 12 euros for 24 hours and does not work in all rooms; you might get to sit at the bar.

The hotel was central. The staff were competent but didnt go out of their way. The hotel had a slightly run down look about and basically could do with a complete renovate. The bathrooms were clean but didnt have any plugs for the bath or basin which was inconvenient. The TV in the bedroom was badly tuned in and didnt have a remote control. The only English spoken channel was CNN. The rooms did not have any tea or coffee making facilities. Probably not reasonable value for money when you condsider what you would get at a Travel Inn.

Although the location was excellent the hotel itself left a lt to be desired. The building is extremely old and it shows. This shouldn't prevent the owners from updating the decor. Even the bed covers were so old they were faded. It just gave a feeling that the place was dirty although there was no evidence of dirt. It is in desperate need of modernising.

I was really pleased with the location seemed to be in the middle of most things,Sevilla metro stop is two minuets away. If your a light sleeper might be a bit noisey as there a few bars in the steets behind so around 4 -5am you can hear people going home rather merry, after the first night i just joined them so it was not a prob anymore. The rooms could do with a lick of paint as they look a bit shabby but then again for what i paid can't expect to much.

Well, our feelings are mixed. The hotel is in a great location to get to many places like Puerta Del Sol, Plasa Mayor, and El Parque del Buen Retiro. However, there was a bar two floors down from us that is very noisy and active at night. Another annoyance was the lack of air conditioning, which resulted in us having to choose between leaving the balcony doors open for some fresh air and hear the already noisy street, or close the doors and sleep in a hot room. The staff was friendly and helpful enough though. The feeling my wife and I basically walked away with was that it wasn't a horrible hotel, but all you are really paying for is the location. I think they should bring their rates down to compensate for the noisy location, lack of air conditioning, and really SLOW elevator. Oh...last but not least...the beds are murder on your back...definitely ask for some extra blankets to lay on the mattress to cushion your back. Like I said, it's not a horrible hotel, but I think they are way overpriced for what you have to put up with.

This is a hotel in the very center of Madrid. It is just a few blocks from the Prado. On the other hand, it has a barely functional elevator. People become stacked up on every floor waiting for it to arrive. Sometimes it doesn't. We ended up taking the stairs a couple of times, and we were on the 7th floor. The shower head would not stay on its holder, and they charge 6 e per hour for wi-fi. Because of its location, I might recommend it, but with some qualifications.

They were cleaning all the time, so it is clean. However, it shows years of wear, which you would expect for the star rating...Great central location. A little street noise, and I didn't see any airconditioning for the summer heat. Cool enough in April & early May to not need AC.

The Asturias Hotel was comfortable and in a great location. The hotel staff spoke very little English, which in our case was not a problem since I speak Spanish fluently. The room was clean and spacious compared to two other hotels we visited during our trip to Europe. Our visit was centered on El Prado museum, which is exquisite. There is a Thai restaurant on El Paseo de Prado (great food) near El Museo de Jamon. Overall, a great buy in a great location.

I recently stayed in the Hotel Asturias in the center of Madrid. It's very well located to all sights and activities of Madrid. The price is reasonable and the rooms are adequate. The beds are small, the linens and towels are sparse. Given that on a trip to Madrid, one does not spend a lot of time in ones hotel room, this hotel is adequate. The elevator broke when we were there, but we were directed to the service elevator. Asturias is nothing special, but gets the job done.

We stayed at the Asturia Hotel as part of our second leg of our Spain vacation. We had just come from Barcelona where we stayed in an apartment so we were looking forward to some hotel-style comfort. After the first night at Asturia, we instantly regretted it. The staff at Asturia wasn't very friendly, our room was very sparse, the beds weren't comfortable and our maid always forgot to clean our glasses and also forgot to leave shampoo and body wash. On top of that, our floor was occupied by teenagers on a school trip. They were very loud, constantly yelling and singing, even into the late night. We called the front desk just about every night of our stay to ask that they put a stop to the noise. The ONLY saving grace for the Asturia Hotel is its central location in Madrid. We were close to all the major sights, museums and restaurants.
