Park Hotel Amsterdam - Ámsterdam

The Park Hotel in Amsterdam has an excellent location of leisure stays in Amsterdam. We (2 persons) shared a very small room in the oldest of the 2 buildings. We asked for a quite room and got one facing the back side of the hotel on the 5th floor which had a teriffic view. The hotel itself has a very good restaurent and a very polite and service-minded staff.

While the hotel had recently been renovated, the entire hall and most of the hotel smelled of mold and musty odors were a constant nuisance. My bathroom while spacious and modern smelled so bad, I hated to go in there and that's even after cleaning. My first stay at this hotel during the renovations was much better. I liked the old charm more than the new modern look. The valet was great and the front desk helpful but I would not stay here again.

For the money, it is modern, clean and in a very convenient area. Within walking distance of many interesting attraction. Would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Park Hotel over a long weekend. First impressions of the hotel were a real 'Wow', with a crisp, contemporary look to the lobby area and some really funky design. The service from the Reception desk was at all times impeccable. Our room was right up on the fifth floor (in the older part of what was a lovely building) and was also very contemporary in design, with a really comfy bed (bliss!). My only slight gripes would be that the shower cubicle leaked onto the bathroom floor and we were forever mopping up after ourselves; the finish of some of the bathroom fittings was very 'matt' meaning that every small mark showed up and so it never looked completely clean (although we knew it was); and we were woken up at 1am on the Sunday night by a (false) fire alarm. Small gripes though, given the value for money- the hotel felt a lot more expensive than it actually was. We would still recommend it given its wonderful location and the huge range of bars, restaurants and museums nearby.

The location of this hotel is why we chose it. Its right in the middle of many attractions and a short walk to the rest. We had an issue with our room when we checked in, but the hotel staff was professional and fixed the issue immediately. The room we got was a good size, clean and the fairly modern.

we were three twenty something girls going on a city break. Park Hotel was lovely, excellent location, lovely room, we stayed in the Junior Suite which had one huge bed and the staff also made up the sofa bed!! very comfy, nicely decorated, looks exactly like the pics. would definitely stay there again if i go back to amsterdam

From the moment we arrived at the Park Hotel we were greeted with kindness and warmth. The staff was very helpful with travel info, maps, etc. The room was so clean and comfortable. It was a nice way to fight off the jet lag. The breakfast was convenient. The location of the hotel was close to everything and we were able to walk everywhere. We did park our car in the hotel garage which was very pricey-but they forgot to add it on the second night and gave us the parking for free! Great experience. We would certainly stay there again!

This is our second time to the Park Hotel and intend to stay there everytime in the future, the rooms are fab, all staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a safe and great location.

Beautiful, stylish hotel, very well located for museums, park, and major attractions. Couldn't wish for more. The staff very helpful, room clean and tidy, we even got a balcony which was a bonus. Only negative is the shower flooded everytime we used it, as it was so powerful it seem to escape through any available space, such as under the door. Still shower itself was wonderful, extremely powerful. We would definately stay there again.

I booked a regular junior suite at this hotel because it was the same price as an average hotel in the US. This specific room was big and relatively nice. There were some marks on the white walls of probably furniture that had been moved around, and I have to say that even though this is a non smoking hotel it smelled like cigarettes. I called the front desk and asked them if there was another room I could have. They moved me to a "2 level suite", with a living room area downstairs and bedroom upstairs. Bathrooms on both floors. They said I got upgraded because of the inconvenience. This room had a patio that oversaw the area which is really nice and has everything you can imagine around it. It's a couple of blocks from the main museums, their "rodeo drive" area, happening bars and restaurants, parks. The restaurant on the hotel is the new IT point. Monday nights are supposedly really quiet in the city but I had the best time at the bar at the restaurant downstairs. I had to extend my stay for one more day and asked them how much would it cost me to stay at the same suite (already knowing I would not want to spend the money) and they told me that I could stay for the same price I had paid for my other nights, which saved me a little over one hundred euros. I absolutely recommend this hotel and will stay there again when I go back to amsterdam.

While this hotel is exquisitely comtemporary in its decor, the show stall and WC leave much to be desired. The shower stall was very small and because of the design, water flooded out and into the adjoining WC. There was very little room in the WC, so if you are long legged, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, the staff was incredibly helpful, calling restaurants for dinner reservations and printing out directions, etc. Another suggestion: ask for an "inside" room. Facing the street there is tram and other traffic noise, including the occasional police siren...not conducive to a good night's sleep, but no fault of the hotel.

Located on the canal and on the edge of Vondelpark with the Rijkesmuseum and Van Gogh Museum just 1/4 mile to the right as you exit hotel. It also has Leidsplien close by offering excellent food choices and bars, including the necessary Irish Bar, Aran Bar, Hard Rock Cafe is next to this. There are plenty of links from Central and Amsterdam Zuid Rail stations, No 1,2 and 5 tram will leave you at Leidsplien and walk across the bridge. The hotel is modern, comfortable and worht the money, not if you are on a budget but if you wish to indulge yourself. Momo restaurant and bar is part of the hotel and offers a resplendent setting for dinner. If you do not stay here then you will miss out. The canl boats operate from the front of the hotel so even then you do not have to go far. The rooms at the front overlook the canal abnd the 7th floor offers panoramic views of Amsterdam, for you smokers the lower levels have acessible balconies, the upper levels are resturcted in case of jumpers a pity as it would have been nice to enjoy the air on an evening while sipping a glass of wine. Overall the staff are courteous, friendly and there was no delay in anything they did, check in and out was swift and this at a time when Holland where entertaining Scotalnd in a World Cup Qualifier, they did not get or looked phased by it all.

It is hard to know exactly what I got for my money, because I was upgraded to a higher quality suite upon arrival without asking and I did not question their decision, obviously. I found the staff very helpful and professional, and the hotel to be modern and of very high quality. I was disturbed one night by a "dripping" noise coming from the air conditioning duct, but their maintenance staff attended to it promptly the next day and solved the problem. The room is convenient to a tram stop (Leidesplein) not far from the Central train station, and I have found that the tram system is the best way to get around Amsterdam (tram tickets sold in the hotel). Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel

We booked a superior room but i wouldn't quite call it that. The hotel was nice and staff were friendly. The bed was way too soft and made it difficult for us both to sleep. The bathroom (including the toilet) was also in the room (like an openplan bedsit) so no chance for privacy. Hardly superior! Even though I had booked the accommodation in advance via this website - we were charged an additional tax on our creditcard when we checked out...

After missing our flight to Amsterdam we were feeling stressed and were looking forward to getting to the hotel to relax. Upon arrival we checked in and were shown to our room which looked as if the bed had been made but messed up and there was litter left on the side. We were offered an upgrade but to a twin room, which was suitable considering it was Valentines weekend! One member of staff seemed stressed about the situation. After 15 minutes we finally got to our room. The shower emptied out water into the toilet area so we were treading through puddles of water or soggy towels to go to the toilet. The reception area is very welcoming and relaxed and the hotel is in an excellent location. Breakfast was offered at a reduced rate of €18, reduced from €22 which I thought was extortionate.

If you are considering this hotel for a stay in Amsterdam then you don't have to worry. The location is ideal, very close to the main museums (5min walk from Van Gogh), and also very close to nice places to eat and Trams to all other places in the city. Service at the hotel is what you would expect and cleanliness was very good. It is not the cheapest of hotels and the food was expensive especially if your breakfast is not included, however there is a great little pancake house on the corner towards Leidersplein. In summary a good hotel.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. Good points are: the staff are helpful and friendly, the whole place is clean and modern, it very clean, the bar is good, the location is excellent. Bad points: The biggest problem was the bathroom. Rather than a seperate room, the sink was in the bedroom with us and the toilet and shower were behind glass doors off the bedroom. As a result, when you were in the bedroom you could clearly hear and smell (and to a certain extent see!!) anything going on in the toilet, not nice. Also, the lack of a seperate bathroom means that anyone going to the toilet at night has to turn the lights on in the whole bedroom, waking the other person up. This open plan design allows them to fit more into a smaller room, and the room was indeed very small, we kept getting in each others way while unpacking especially. If staying here, make sure you request a bigger room with a seperate bathroom (I assume some rooms are bigger). If they don't have bigger rooms I probably wouldn't stay there again. However, having seen the alternatives in this sort of location and for this money, this is still a very good value option. But personally I may just choose to pay more next time, if I was on a budget then I would probably request a sperate bathroom and go back because other than the bathroom issue, the location, price, staff and clenliness are very good, problems are generally tolerable.

I totally loved this hotel and cannot wait to go back, it was actually a referral from a friend and so well worth it. Very artsy hotel. It's walking distance to the Guggenheim and near allot of other museams. About 15 mins away from the train station by bus and 30 mins walking. The area is quite charming, with boutiques, gorgeous lounges and top service at this hotel. I even got hugs from the reservationist when i left! The Park Hotel will certainly see me again very soon!

The hotel a good base from which to enjoy Amsterdam. Everything we wanted was either within walking distance or a short tram ride away. We really enjoyed hanging out in the comfortable and well appointed lobby. Since we were there in the winter, one of the best parts was coming in from the cold and warming up in front of the fire before heading to our room. The hotel staff was helpful and very informed. Our room was comfortable and had some nice features. Our favorite part was standing on the balcony watching the New Years Eve revelry on the street below.

The hotel offers parking, but does not mention that it is based on availability and there is none available from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. since the garage is under renovation/construction. Not only was staff not apologetic, but directed us to a parking garage that was exceptionally expensive (We found one for half the price 2 blocks away.) Our room faced the back of the hotel over the garage, which meant that we heard construction noise from 7:30 a.m. onward. Also be warned that there is an extra 5% city tax that you must pay the hotel on check-out that is not included on your hotels.com bill. Lastly, I noticed that the hotel had charged my credit card when there should not be any additional charges at all and am now in the process of having the charge removed. The staff needs to learn the meaning of customer service.

The room was nice but it was small. The bathroom was not really separated from the room.

Great Hotel for the price. However there is no separate bathroom within the sleeping room. For a lack of a better description... There are 2 stalls (1 shower and 1 toilet).

Great location for visiting museums. Friendly staff. Room was comfortable and clean, but would have preferred a bit more privacy in the wc (only a glass door, not a separate room). Near a great park for jogging, for those who are interested. We also agreed with previous reviewers who said that the breakfast offered by the hotel was too costly. Lots of places to eat that are less expensive.

For my first trip to Amsterdam I really could not have asked for a better hotel both for its quality and its location. Others have spoken about remodeling but I believe that has been finished- if not, I was not aware of anything going on while I was there. The hotel is just a short train ride from Schiphol Airport to the #5 tram with about a 1.5 block walk to the front door. In fact, the tram stop is right in front of the entrance to the Rijksmuseum and just steps away from the Van Gogh musuem. With a canal (and a tour company), high-end shopping, and access to one of the more highly populated throughways, you are not far from anything. I found the room to be a standard size for Europe, not overly large but comfortable. My space was an open plan and as others have noted, the toilet is somewhat exposed. The shower had great pressure and ample hot water as well. All in all, I could not have asked for a better experience. By the way, watch for bikes zipping by as you must cross a bike path to get across the street.

very clean ,modern, close to most "to see" venues. Although the room was small using USA standerd ,but that said I would recomend it to anyone staying in Amsterdam

it was a great location. Either walking distance or close to public transportation depending on where you were going.

I stayed here for 1 night. It was a fantastic reception but there was noise from renovation work going on. The hotel was not finished which we were not aware of and we had to go through the old part of the hotel to get to our room. Apart from that, the hotel was fantastic, room very comfortable although a little smaller than photos may suggest. Would recommend and re-visit when it is all complete.

Still being renovated so there were some "problems" with our room (air conditioning stopped working). No one told us we had to put our room card into a slot inside the door for lights and air conditioning to work. Breakfast, while impressive, extremely expensive. Dinner, outstanding. Friendly, efficient waiter. Excellent,eclectic menu. Maitre d' a bit "over the top" and condescending. Great location and once renovations are finished, I would definitely recommend the Park Hotel.

Wow arrived in Amsterdam, and the directions to the hotel were easy to follow and didn't take us long to get there. The hotel is within walking distance of every attraction. The hotel screams class, and my partner and I really enjoyed our stay in the superior room. I was a little concerned that the room didn't have any interior walls for the bathroom, as others have complained about water getting into their room. But that wasn't a problem at all, the floor in the shower soaks up the water, and there is a big massive curtain to separate the bedroom from the en-suite when in use. The hotel staff were really friendly, and spoke excellent English. we checked out at 12 but our flight wasn't till 4 so we were allowed to keep our luggage stored at the hotel till 3 which was great.

The staff at the hotel where fantastic - on our first day there was a really disgusting smell coming from the air conditioning in the corridor - we mentioned it to the staff, they investigated ,offered us another room and fixed the problem. Nothing was too much trouble for them. As to the hotel some of the rooms are a bit of an adventure to find requiring a couple of lift changes and better signage would help. (it actually added to the charcter of the place). We had one of the newly redesigned rooms and it looked great. the only problem was the shower door did not seem to be able to stop water running out and we had to put towels on the floor to stop the water running onto the carpet. Overall for value for money and location I would give it a 9/10.

Our stay was pleasant. the hotel is very well located to a lot of the sights. Nice decor however our room was small and the bathroom was not a room. The cubicle toilet and shower are not appropriate. The water from the shower overflowed into the toilet cubicle and wash area. It is a bed in a wet room really. Staff were excellent and very freindly. I would return but to a different room perhaps.

The Park Hotel in Leidseplein is in a great location has a lot of potential. However, while I was there the construction hindered the layout throughly. The process for finding my room was an intricate process involving service elevators. The rooms were fantastic, and I'm not sure how much of the weird layout was caused by the construction. I do recommend this hotel, as it is beautiful and in a great location. I just hope the cluster is out of their control. Amsterdam is a fantastic city, and The Park Hotel is a nice place to be.

The Park Hotel in Amsterdam felt pretty new, and as such was very clean and everything was in good condition, although part of the lounge/reception area appeared to have been subject to a leak, as sofas were covered in plastic and there were workmen about. This didn't affect our stay, though. We took an executive room on the top floor which was really comfortable and had a great view. Unfortunately for security reasons we weren't allowed to open the floor to ceiling window, and had to keep the air conditioning on. The bathroom was very nice, but there was no plug for the bath. I asked at reception three times for a plug before giving up on the idea. The shower was pretty good. Overall comfort & cleanliness were very good, and being located right next to the Rijks Museum and away from the red light district was good, too.

The rooms are very small, but nice and comfortable. Best of all, the location is terrific - easily accessible by the tram which runs all over the city. Just over the canal (one tram stop away or a 10 minute walk) is a great area with tons of restaurants (they won't tell you this at the front desk however). You can get to the hotel from the airport via a shuttle which costs 13 euro per person (30 minute ride).

The Park Hotel Amsterdam has just completed or nearly completed renovations of the property. Our room was very spacious by European standards. The bed was very comfortable, the shower/bathroom very accommodating. Go for the Executive room otherwise my understanding is your room will be an "open concept" room. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Fabulous location! We would stay there again for sure.

Stayed for 2 nights in July. Staff really nice, some alterations to the hotel were being done which woke us up in the morning at 8.00 as they were trying to finish it off but this did not detract from a lovely stay. The room was nice, not the biggest, and the bed was the most comfiest ever. The only slight moan was the water coming under the shower door when in use and into the room so we had to put a towel on the floor. The location was excellent accross from the lively Leidesplien bars/restaurants. Would definately stay here again and would highly recomend it.

I couldn't recommend this hotel more! Beautiful, clean, comfortable bed, modern, awesome view, great location, super nice staff.....big bathroom, big room, wonderful comforter...the list goes on and on....it was just wonderful!!! My favorite hotel in all of Europe :)

Excellent facilities

During our stay part of the hotel was under construction. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Great location right next to Vondelpark and the Rijksmuseum. However, breakfast was to be included in the price and when we arrived we were told it was an extra 25 euro per person. Also, if we asked the reception for help with finding a restaurant, post office or making reservations, they were always friendly and helpful but we would find out too late that they gave us the wrong information on every occasion.

Went to this hotel as a present for my girlfriends birthday. Was getting refurbished but do not let this fool you, the hotel was in immaculate condition, the staff were extremely friendly and the room was amazing; very well decorated, and to a very high standard. The hotel was getting decorated which perhaps makes you misperceive the quality of the rooms.

This is our third year staying at the Park Hotel. It's in an excellent position with lots of bars, cafes and restuarants nearby. It is also easily accessible to the Red Light District. Last year and this year our rooms were upgraded. The hotel has been renovated since we visited last year and looks very cosmopolitan. We would thoroughly recommend staying at the Park Hotel. We always have an excellent time.

We stayed here for two nights and found this a pleasant place to stay. The room was modern and comfortable, the only problem being the shower leaving into the sink and toliet area. The renovation work is managed well so it didn't effect our stay. The breakfast was lovely.

Having last stayed at The Park 18 years we wondered if our stay would be as enjoyable. We needn't have worried! Having recently gone through a major renovation it is well and truly a "first class " hotel. The proposed new restaurant is still in the re-building stage but this disruption didn't affect us at all. From the initial check in - where the staff were very efficient to the cleanliness and comfort of the bedroom - everything was perfect. We had a power cut in our room one day but having reported it the fault was corrected within 10 minutes. The staff are warm and friendly and we would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are modern and beautiful, but I noticed over the course of a five-day stay that housekeeping didn't vacuum and often didn't clean thoroughly. However, the service is extraordinary, the location convenient, and beds very comfortable.

Location - excellent. Customer service - very good. Bed comfort - very good. But...the room set up was bizarre. The "bathroom" was a frosted glass booth, the walls of which did not even go up to the ceiling. This booth was separated from the bed by a hospital curtain. Hard to explain, but trust me - there was no privacy whatsoever. My husband and I could hear (and smell) everything the other was doing and had to resort to meeting each other in the lobby for each of us to get any privacy. We spent 3 nights in this hotel and it was a shame that this one element was enough to force me not to recommend this otherwise, very nice, comfortable, well located hotel.
