Empire Hotel - Amberes

I'd originally booked this hotel because the site said that rooms had kitchenettes. On check-in the room I was given did not have a kitchenette and reception said that not all rooms do. Reception did change my room. The replacement room did have a kitchenette which consisted of a full size fridge with ice box, a microwave and one (which I couldn't get to work) hotplate. However the only crockery/cutlery supplied were just one plate and one saucepan! I had to ask for cutlery and and a cup etc. The replacement room also came with a sofa which was a nice extra. Included breakfast was good. Reception were helpful. Lifts were smelly though. Road seemed to be run-down but the location was very central with shops etc just a two minute walk away and the train station just five minute walk away. The gym which was located at a sister hotel was closed for renovation!

The hotel was very nice, clean and close enough to the town centre. Very good breakfast too.

Ok - pleasant staff - my mates were very impressed - ok breakfast - good for a cheap few nights with mates - not really a place for a romantic weekend

We were only staying one night in Antwerp as passing through to Bruges. Antwerp very nice indeed and this hotel was very well located close to the train station. We picked this hotel as a cheap option and read some other reviews before going. We were not expecting too much but it was OK. The staff were friendly, room clean (other than the fridge which had not been used for a long time and had mould in). Rooms were basic but quite large. Shower good as was breakfast. Lifts were a bit smelly and some of carpets abit grubby on landings. Hotel could do with a redecoration but then the price would go up. You get what you pay for and we didn't pay very much so it was OK. If you want luxury do not go here but for a short stay it is fine

Hotel is located close to Antwerp Central Station so a good base for exploring. The main town squares and sites are 3 stops on the tram away, just Euro1.20 per trip. Hotel is cheap and cheerful, basic but comforatble enough for a short stay. No bar, but ample bars and restaurants close to the hotel. Good choice at breakfast.

The room was a lot bigger than expected! Situated right by then end of the main shopping street.

Warning, do not sttay at the Empire without first checking if the new club somewhere around the building has either closed or been muffled. We stayed for 5 nights over Christmas and 3 out of the 5 nights there was a club blasting techno music that starts at about 10:30pm and doesn't finish until about 4:30-5am. We didn't sleep the first night. The room was actually shaking during the night. We tried kleenex in our ears but was no use. When we complained the next moringing, the receptionist informed us a new club was put in 3 weeks prior to our arrival. They were honest and said they have had numerous complaints and that the owner is seeking legal action against the club. Where are Antwerp's zoning laws? Since I was on vacation and booked through hotels.com which I was not aware of cancellation policies we stuck with it for the remaining stay. However, we went to the gun shop across the street and bought a few pair of ear plugs for 40 cents each. That helped and we also made sure we were good and drunk before sleeping every night after. Other than this, the room was huge and pretty clean. Now other points I wouldn't stay again for. One the heater made enormous screetches and noises on top of the club noise. We also couldn't figure out how to adjust the heat which was not the warmest. The hot water takes 5 minutes to warm up, no joke. And finally, there was no shower curtain! This must be a european thing because we've seen it before. Although we are currently living in England away from the US, we're clearly not used to no shower curtain. Very uncomfortable way to shower trying to stand perfectly still, and you still get water splashed all over the bathroom. Don't stay here. The good points are it is not even 5 minutes to the train station, 15 minute walk to the main square (Grote Market) and I guess it was relatively cheap. Good luck and make sure you inquire about the club.

Pour un hôtel de cette catégorie il est regrettable que la moquette de la chambre ne soit pas plus propre.

Toujours un peu récitente quand je dois choisir un hotel sur internet mais avec l'Empire hotel, vous ne serez pas déçus. Les chambres sont spacieuses, calmes et le personnel très chaleureux pour un prix très abordable!

- La taille de chambre etait tres spacieuse par rapport aux prix. - Il y avait un problem dans la chambre: la fenetre a ete ouverte et elle ne se fermait pas. -Jai signale a la reception desque jai vu ce problem. -la reception m'a dit qu elle allait regler ce problem pendant que je sortais. -quand je retournais a l'hotel vers minuit, la fenetre etait toujours ouverte. Donc la reception n'a pas ecoute. -Jai du signale encore a la reception en pleine nuit, finalement une personne etait montee, personne n'arrivait pas a fermer la fenetre, -Bref, l'hotel m'a donne une autre chambre vers 1 h du matin. voila ! genial cet hotel. ;(

De inrichting van het hotel stamde nog uit de jaren '70, en sindsdien is er niets meer veranderd. Oude troep en smoezelig. Verder konden wij onze bagage achter de receptie kwijt, 'niemand zou er daar bij kunnen'. Vervolgens konden we later zonder ons te legitimeren bij onze koffers, terwijl de nieuwe receptioniste ons nog niet eerder had gezien. Al met al het minste onderdeel van ons weekend in Antwerpen.

This was my first and last stay at the Empire Hotel. The service was terrible and I didn't get half of the things promised. Broken fridge, only few channels on tv was working, the bed was like 20 years old, bathroom terrible. I complained several times but the staff didn't care. It's a crappy and old hotel. The internet promised was 17€ for 24 hours and even with a good signal to the WIFI, the connection was very bad and very slow. I couldn't work via VPN because of that. You can survive 1 night at the Empire but 3 weeks was for me a nightmare.

Arrivé à 22h, mon enregistrement se passe sans problèmes. Ma chambre est au cinquième, je décide tout de même de prendre les escaliers, je constate rapidement que la propreté n'est pas un critère important (la moquette est salle, pleine de moutons, un charriot encombre le passage et l'odeur n'est pas très agréable). Bref, Entré dans la chambre, je suis surpris par la grandeur de la chambre. La chambre est propre. L'hôtel est très bruyant (en contrebas une rue très passante un bar est assez animé). Lorsque je souhaite prendre une douche, je découvre qu'il n'y a plus de bouton pour régler la température et que le débit est aussi faible qu'un court d'eau asséché en pleine sècheresse. Je vais alors voir à la réception pour parler de mes problèmes, la personne me signale qu'elle étais au courant du problème mais qu'ils avaient une et une seule autre chambre à me proposer tout en me prévenant qu'elle étais de moindre confort. Malgrès cela, j'accepte la nouvelle chambre pressé de prendre ma douche. Cette nouvelle chambre est sale. Je prends ma douche, la pomme de douche est scotchée (je découvre après que c'est pour colmater les fuites de celle-ci). Une trappe pour la maintenance de la baignoire est apparente et n'est pas très bien fermée. Une assez grosse araignée sors d'ailleurs de celle-ci. Personne ne s'est excusé pour les désagréments que j'ai rencontré. Une remise de cinq euros est prévue pour tous les clients du parking d'à côté.

Surprise les chambres sont tres grandes et confortables, ce n est pas neuf mais propre. sommeil leger s abstenir, la rue est un peu bruyante.Le petit dejeuner est copieux et varie et le personnel attentif et aimable.

Vuil, verveloos, oud, vochtig, verschrikkelijk, geen bar, geen drankje te verkrijgen, onvriendelijke receptie, of ik naar de nachtwinkel buiten kon gaan voor een flesje water, de geldwissel kassa was dicht!!!!!

Bien situé, parking à côté avec réduction de l'hôtel, très grande chambre, confortable, réception très accueillante et disponible. Le seul petit point négatif est que les chambres ne sont pas très bien insonorisées et que les voisines du dessus étaient bruyantes et donc un peu de bruit mais c'est normal j'ai l'impression que la clientèle de l'hôtel est plutôt jeune et festive ! Si je dois retourner à Anvers, j'y retournerai quand même sans hésiter !

He hotel was makkelijk te vinden en de aangrenzende parkeergarage was ideaal echter wel duur. de korting op de garage is te verwaarlozen. De kamer was groooot 4 bedden waar ik in een 2 persoonskamer 2 had verwacht. Dicht bij de Meir en de Zoo, alles op loopafstand. het enige nadeel is dat wer 's nachts nogal veel lawaai door de straat heen gaat. (o.a. door en pub) Dus als je gaat neem dan een kamer, iet aan de straatkant als het kan!

Vooral de locatie van het hotel maakt het een uitstekend hotel voor een bezoek aan Antwerpen. De kamers zijn zeer ruim, maar ook behoorlijk muf. Afgaande op de prijs-kwaliteit zijn er waarschijnlijk voldoende andere goedkopere hotels binnen een straat van 500 meter die een hetzelfde bieden.
