Smart modern hotel fairly close to city centre and rail station. Friendly and helpful reception. The room was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished with excellent quality widescreen TV. Layout a bit unusual, such that you had to lie on your bed to watch TV, with the desk and storage area behind the TV. Hotel has a good restaurant with well-designed menus including Finnish specialities.

Great value for money. Very central. Lots of Finnish design - full of character and certainly more interesting than the run off the mill SAS rooms. For this price range, miles ahead of any other hotel.

Very comfortable room, with a well thought-out room arrangement and charming little details. Breakfast was copious. Easy walking distance to Kamppi shopping center and trams; reasonable walking distance to Mannerheimintie.

Beautiful, modern hotel with extremely friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are modern, neat, comfy and the large silk screen image hanging over the bed is a very unique touch. Breakfast is wonderful (not to mention included in your booking price, no extra fees) and there is plenty to go around. You are only one or two streets away from three major shopping centers (Kamppi, Stockmans and the Forum) not to mention the movie theater is right across the street. The train/bus station is two streets away. I travel to Finland often and this will be my new home from now on.

If you are looking for a hotel close to the city with friendly staff and a decent breakfast than they don't come better than this. Ok not the luxurious of city hotels but what it lacked in facilities it excellent in good staff. The bar has excellent fresh Finnish beer and knowledgeable staff. Maybe a touch to remote from the city for some...but it's only 5-7 minutes tops from the Centre. There's a couple of loan bikes available for the energetic among you.

No-one told us the locals dissappear for Easter. The good news is it was quiet, the bad news is that shops and museums shut on the public holidays, and many restaurants were also closed. Hotel was well located - a ten min walk from downtown. Rooms were well appointed, albeit a bit small. Dinner at hotel was fine. Breakfast served in a depresing windowless room, with food clearly produced to a very tight budget. No fish of any kind dispite the fact that the area is famous for it. Watery scrambled eggs, and staff who did not engage with their customers. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, if not always accurate in thier advice (wrong location of a restaurant and bad information of a bus service to the factory outlet area). Sauna was out of service as being rennovated. Overall an attractive city, but very expensive!

From the outside the hotels does not inspire confidence, however, the staff are great and rooms are very comfortable. Restaurant is limited, but the hotel is very close to other eating options. Dont expect frills , comfortable room, good service and a sauna !

We really enjoyed our stay at the Helka in Helsinki. The rooms were large compared to similar rooms in Stockholm and Copenhagen, and the heated floor in the bathroom was the best! The included breakfast buffet was also one of the best for the price in Scandinavia.

very comfortable and relaxing hotel, very nice location, the main city centre is just a few minutes walk away, rooms are comfortable, warm and cosy.

Helka is a recently renovated facility in an old building within a few blocks of the train station. The room was clean and staff very helpful. Included breakfast was very good and they prepared a box version for us the day of departure as we were leaving very early. The room had one oddity worth noting: as shown in the picture on this site, it has a "mural" on a cloth stretched on the ceiling above the bed. Nothing kinky, but unusual.

great buffet breakfast included in the rate. It's close to the church in the rock. I was very happy.

The hotel was extremely clean, fairly located, had an awesomely multilingual staff... But the room was excedingly tiny. I had the single twin sized room. And literally, it was just enough room to lay my head for the night (which was really all I needed since I had an eary flight out of the country the next morning, yet didn't check in till almost 7pm). In fact, the suitcase I had with me barely fit through the hall/walk way from the door to the sleeping area and the bathroom was extremely small and basic. However, it was a beautifully decorated room. The bed, although a twin, was the most comfortable bed I think I have slept in in quite some time... And definately the most comfortable bed I slept in during my entire stay in Finland. In fact, I almost wished I could bring it home with me. The staff was so much more helpfull than any other hotel I have ever stayed in. When I arrived the associate at the desk informed me of the various cab options since I was going to be flying out the next morning. When I informed him of the time I would be needing a cab, he noticed that I would be missing the included complimentary breakfast and took it upon himself to pack me a breakfast to take with me to the airport... On top of booking another cab for me when he learned the hotel's contracted cab company would not opperate as early as I needed. This hotel, although small in keeping with Finnish culture and based on basic needs and modern Finnish design, definitely goes above and beyond for its customers and I would recomend them everyday and twice on sunday for anyone.

Snyggt renoverat hotell mitt i Helsingfors. Rent och fräscht med snyggt designade rum, fräsch matsal och bra läge. Rekommenderas!

Neither AC and internet worked in my room, I had to go down to the lobby to get internet. My room was too warm and the AC was just a fen, no cold air.... bad, when they announce that the room have internet and AC as standard.

Nice hotel with decent sized rooms. Clean and fresh. Staff was service minded and polite. Will definetly stay here again. Only drawback was the relatively low number of english speaking tv channels.

Walking distance to the train station and tourist sites, professional staff and clean room, complete breakfast, and the hotel restaurant was good for dinner.

Et dejligt hotel tæt på det hele. Man for rigtig meget for pengene. Vi skal helt sikkert bo der næste gang vi skal besøge helsinki.

Pænt og rent hotel. Vi fandt os straks tilrette og følte os godt tilpas.

Gute Lage nahe des Stadtzentrums. Kostenlose Parkplätze. Servicepersonal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Zimmer sind klein und in einem normalen "Gebrauchzustand", dafür aber sehr sauber und dem Preissegment entsprechend gut ausgestattet. Würde ich jeder Zeit wieder buchen.

Hotellet ligger sentralt i et bra strøk. Rommet var fint og rent ,og de som jobbet der var veldig hjelpsomme.Jeg kommer definitivt til å bo der igjen.

Frokost og lunsj under middels. Jeg anbefaler å spise på nærliggende restauranter.

Helka er et lite og hyggelig hotell midt i Helsinki, med vennlig service og avslappet, moderne atmosfære. Høy kvalitet på rom, frokost og service - uten unødvendig luksus.

Helka hotell ligger sentralt i forhold til til fleste aktuelle attraksjonene for en turist i Helsinki. Dobbeltrommene er ikke store, men passe til slike som oss - som vil være mest mulig ute på byen og i de grønne områdene det er mange av i Helsinki. Vi var i Helsinki for første gang, men i løpet av de fire dagene i tilknytning til Pinsen 2009 kunne vi gå til alle de stedene vi besøkte: Sibelius-monumentet, Olympiastadion, Operaen, Finlandiahuset, Designmuseet, Salutorget, Domkirken, Senatstorget, Uspenski-katedralen, Den gamle salgshallen, Jernbanestasjonen, Skatudden. Vi rakk også lunsj-kryss med veteranbåt til Borgå - og heldag (med båt til og fra) Sveaborg - alt i et strålende vær.

Da wir Helsinki 'erlaufen' hatten, war die zentrale Lage gut und hilfreich. Man muss aber zusehen, dass man nicht ein Zimmer bekommt, welches über dem benachbarten Klub liegt, da die Schallwellen der Bässe doch wohl durchkommen; gerade am Wochenende. Die Sauna konnten wir nicht testen, da sie gerade renoviert wurde. Ansonsten recht sauber, kleine aber stilvoll eingerichtete Zimmer und das Frühstück ist so, dass jeder etwas finden sollte. Für uns war es gut, aber Mäkler gibt es wahrscheinlich immer...

Hotel Helka er et lækkert hotel, især til prisen! Vi blev noget overraskede over den lækre komfort i forhold til den pris vi havde betalt! Det var virkelig dejligt. Restauranten tilhørende hotellet var fantastisk!

The hotel is quite nice, but you can obviously see that it has been refurbished to look like a design hotel. All the details are not quite in place. Service is ok. I was unfortunate to have room 431 which is the far end towards the hard rock bar across the street. It was noisy until 02.00 AM. In other words not so pleasant.

voor ons hoeft dit hotel niet meer. Toilet en wasgelegenheid waren uitgesproken vies en dat gold ook het beddegoed. Gezien de vele haren die zich op de kussens van mij en mijn man bevonden, moesten we het doen met het beddegoed van onze voorgangers.... Op ons verzoek is dat overigens wel vervangen. De bediening was wisselend. Een wat oudere man was uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam, de wat jongere garde veel minder. Overigens waren de bedden prima, was de kamer smaakvol ingericht, maar een enkele stoel voor twee personen toch weer niet helemaal ideaal.

Litt trangt bad og rom med taburett til nattbord. Fikk et par ekstra taburetter, og de nødvendige ekstra par putene uten problemer. God seng, artige foto-himlinger og hyggelig frokostsal med bjerkestammer. Bra mat. Servicevennlig resepsjon.

Snyggt och bra hotell mitt i Helsingfors. Promenadavstånd till Kamppi-gallerian och Kisma. Designmöbler överallt, mycket snyggt. Kul bar. Det enda jag saknar är fönster, frukostmatsalen är t ex lite mörk.

Har bott på Helka två gånger och är riktigt imponerad över den häfta inredningen, späckad med gigantiska motiv från den finländska naturen. Tyvärr var badrumsgolvet jättefläckigt den här gången, och saker var lite småtrasiga och inte helt rengjorda. Servicen är lite småbutter (finsk?) men ok. Frukosten känns sådär. Hyfsat utbud men lite sunkigt att sitta i ett trångt och varmt rum där personalen är riktigt dålig på att plocka undan från borden. Väldigt trafikerat utanför men annars helt ok läge i förhållande till kommunikationer och shopping etc.

Hier stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, wenige Minuten vom Hauptbahnhof zu Fuß zu erreichen (oder 1 Station mit der Metro), Ausgezeichnetes Frühstücksbuffet.

Möttes av varma människor i receptionen. Rummen är smakfulla & moderna. Mycket bekväma. Mycket trevlig bar. Lite besviken på frukosten men helt OK. Kommer gärna tillbaka. / Irén, Kinna, Sverige

Accueil, bar et coin petit déjeuner complètement renovés récemment, bien designé, dans le plus pur style finlandais. Donc, trés bien. En revanche, chambre trés petite, salle de bain minuscule et méritant un rafraichissement. Globalement, hotel un peu exentré du coeur de la ville, mais assez proche de la gare ferroviaire (aucune insécurité, vous êtes à Helsinki !). Bref, idéal pour une nuit dans une ville hors de prix !

Apparently this is a relatively unknown hotel, and has been renovated to a very interesting nordic design style throughout. The value for money is excellent compared to anything else I have had before (and I know the situation in this city pretty well).

Een leuk, gezellig hotel op 5 minuten lopen van het station. Prima kamers, rustig, leuk ontbijt. Vriendelijk personeel en goede service. Op de terugweg meteen hetzelfde hotel geboekt.

Jag gillade också att det fanns tillgång till morgonbastu och att vi kunde disponera relaxavdelningen i två timmar för oss själva för en överkomlig penning (10 Euro per person). Själva rummet var litet, men absolut fullt tillräckligt och mec väldigt snygg inredning.
