I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in August for a family vacation in Southern Cal. The price that I paid for 2 Queen beds were similar to other 2 stars hotel at that time. I didn’t find any comments about this hotel in Hotel.com but found some in other site. The comment was 50/50 but I think the hotel got remodeled late 2008 or early 2009. So, I gave it a try. I am right. There was a renovation. They have LCD TV, the bed is comfortable, the furniture is new, the room is clean. Better yet, they offer full breakfast not just continental. Less than 10 min to Legoland and about 20 min to San Diego. If I go to that area again, I may consider this one again

This particular Holiday Inn was recommended by my daughter who stayed there last year. She said it was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. She was right! I had a great sleep both nights and I enjoyed having breakfast in the dining area with the other guests, because I hate going out & searching for a restaurant. A short drive to the beach & close to Jack-in-the-Box, Subway, & Starbuck.

We loved our stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It's close to the freeway, downtown San Diego,the ocean and the racetrack at Del Mar. We stayed here 3 years ago and knew what to expect but it was even nicer this time around. It looked as if they had done work inside and out and they added a workout room which we took advantage of. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy with lots of pillows. We sat by the pool and enjoyed the hot tub every night and the breakfast is a real bonus.It was great to get up every morning to excellent coffee, eggs, sausage, juice, milk, yogurt, cereal, toast and amazing cinnamon rolls. The breakfast area is clean , bright and well attended by staff. We will definitely be back

We are happy with our stay, my only issue was that I requested for a micro wave, and never got it, we were told they are working on it, but never got it.

The room is clean but the toilet is clog. We ask for a maintainance person but the front desk staff Rick said he is by himself and nobody can help us. We need to clean the toilet our self. What a shame! Says Holiday Inn Express but no staff during the afternoon shift? What kind of hotel is that? My room doesn't have a refrigerator and no towel in the bathroom. But my friends room has one. The front desk staff Rick said they had a malfunction washer that day. So we have to get our own towel. it wasn't a pleasant stay.

"Nice room in less-than charming area"

This is a perfectly adequate motel with comfortable room and more of a breakfast than most similar places. The breakfast included with price is eggs, yogurt, breads etc. The area isn't very charming and right off highway but easy drive to beach and restaurants.

This hotel was very nice and comfortable. The room was very clean and recently updated. The flat screen tv was a plus too. The morning breakfast was fast, easy, convenient and delicious. We really appreciated the hot items too. Wonderful stay.

Good value for the price. Room was large and the bed very comfortable. Front desk staff was nice and breakfast choices were of good quality. Only complaint would be the thin walls. Families with small children are up early and the running and screaming up and down the hall at 7am was extremely annoying.

A lot cleaner rooms than I expected, especially comparing it with some other Holiday Inn express hotels I stayed in LA. During my trip I stayed at 3-4 different hotels and this was the best of them all. Breakfast was awesome....everything from bacon strips, cheese omlette to yogurt.

This hotel was so much nicer than we expected. Right after we got to our room, the front desk called to make sure we had everything we needed. A great bonus was the free breakfast which included eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls and different juices. We will definitely look to stay in Holiday Inn Express for now on.

the desk clerk was very polite and knowledgeable about the local area. the Continental breakfast was more than just bread jelly and a small drink. The room was super clean and slylish. The bed was very comfortable and roomy. The location of the hotel was right off the highway 5. Hotel was a little pricy, taken off 10 to 20 would had made it perfect.

If you are looking for a place in the Cardiff area this is a great hotel. Less than a mile from the boardwalk and extremely clean and comfortable.

Everything about this facility was top-notch! The rooms were recently updated, and very well maintained. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the included breakfast was far better than most!

I have no real complaints about my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, only two minor quibbles. First, there was a noticeable lack of hot water when I took a late morning shower on Sunday. Secondly, since this hotel is located in a residential neighborhood off I-5, expect to drive some distance to find a place to eat. Other than that, the service, accomodations and comfort level exceeded my expectations.

"Great Hotel, Great Price, Great Location"

I am in San Diego (county) all the time and the beach communities like Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Solana Beach and Encinitas are the places to stay. This hotel is right off the freeway which makes it extremely convenient for travelers looking to hit their destinations quickly. Right over the hill from this hotel is the Pacific Ocean, boutique shops and great restaurants. The rooms are very appointed. This hotel has had a dramatic transformation into a ultra-modern, sleek and comfortable suite. The rooms I have stayed in all came with a super-comfy king size bed, love seat, coffee table, desk/vanity, dresser, 32" LG Flat-panel TV, etc. The rooms are clean and the continental breakfast is amazing. I stay at this hotel every time I am in town...You should too.
