Howard Johnson Inn and Suites - Reseda

This is my second stay at this Inn. The first stay was in July this year. For that stay the hotel was extremely noisy. Not so this time. It was an extremely quiet restful three nights. My key did not work. The front desk employees were very polite and appologetic and gave me new keys.

The room was nice, looked like it had been updated recently. The problem was that it smelled like bug spray. The lobby was nice, but the hallways (outside) to the rooms were dirty and so were the stairwells. The towels were the worst I have ever used - they were like thin sand paper, totally useless for drying off. Continental breakfast was good.

I am pretty happy with my stay. What I was looking for was a clean hotel in a decent neighborhood for a great price and that is all I got. Room was very clean, front desk person very helpful, plenty of parking, there was no noise at all, the pool looked nice even though I did not use it. Breakfast was nothing special but overall good but since I m not a big breakfast person. The neighborhood wasn't the greatest but by saying that I mean that it was perfectly safe and normal for you to just walk around and feel safe. One of the big pluses was that there was a CVS right next door and there was this great Indian restaurant I found on yelp that was like less than 5 miles away. There was 2 of us that stayed there for 3 days and I would definitely go back there if I am visiting again.

We spent 2 night here and room was very nice and hotel was in good condition. The surrounding area looks a bit bad but there is secure parking and we had no problems. If I have to stay again in the area I would put this hotel on the list of ones to price check.

Everything was good...the only thing is....be prepared to carry or roll your bags up the stairs. They do not have elevators, but other than that, we felt safe and comfortable.

great time

We were very satisfied with our five nights at the HoJo Reseda. It was very clean and the staff were great. They were genuinely interested in the comfort of their guests. The entrance from the (secure) car park at the rear of the hotel is not very attractive but the shared areas and rooms were very clean. The only minor problem was the ingress of smoke into our non smoking room early in the morning but it was not very strong so not a major problem. We would definitely stay there again. LA is so spread out that it is impossible to be close to everythinng but this hotel's position is as good as it gets. Free WiFi and breakfast were much appreciated. Thanks for a good value comfortable stay.

i stayed at this Ho Jo from7/2-7/5 2009. the first night was extremely, extremely noisy. It sounded like the guests upstairs were jumping on and off of the bed most of the night. there is a fire department across the street. It was called out about three times during the night. Other than severe noise on the first night,the hotel was very nice. It is clean and the staff is very polite.

Just wish I stayed longer, the fridge in the room was nice too...

I liked the cleanliness and the obviously new paint/decorations/bathroom tile. It was nice. I liked the close access from the freeway as well as Northridge State which is why we were there.

Hotel was clean and staff was prompt and curtious. WiFi worked good. Pool and hot tub were clean. Surounding neighborhood was OK but not that great. Hotel has secured parking in back.

The hotel was more than I expected, especially for the money. Would definitly stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Great room for the price. Staff was really nice. Bathrooms were very clean and updated with granite. Bed wasn't that comfy but great for one night. Stayed on second floor, noise level was fine. You can hear sirens outside, but overall very satisfied. Breakfsast choices were sparse but good.

Very clean. Attractively decorated. Loved the flat screen T.V. Helpful employees. Wonderful breakfast bar. Well worth the money. A very pleasant experience.

Could be a little more friendly

Only negatives were mattress not great, but also not terrible, and could hear people walking upstairs rather loudly. On plus side, the room was beautifully decorated and the pool and fountain areas were really nice. Considering the price, it was an excellent value.

I enjoyed the hotel, the cleanliness of the room, and the neighborhood. It was nice and quiet, and the only thing I may mention is that the hotel may need a little remodeling. But it did not interfere with an exceptionally enjoyable stay.

I liked it - it was a decent room, but you can hear anything that anyone says - it was DEFINITELY one of the least soundproof rooms I've had - I wonder how many people heard me! Air would not stay on constantly, even with the temperature set at 60 (lowest setting), but it wasn't uncomfortable. TV is great, bed is comfy, refrigerator is nice. It's VERY convenient - right next to a CVS and lots of restaurants around.

A bit over priced but decent. Close to CSUN.

We stay here about three times a year to visit our son and daughter. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Pretty indoor landscaping (how do you get those cyclamens to grow so beautifully?). Clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Thanks!

The room was good, refurbished and clean, with a flat panel tv and marble tub and sink. The breakfast was not nearly what other hotels offer. The selection was cold cereal, dry pastries, and small oranges. I had to go to starbucks! Across the street was a fire station that was called out 3 times during the night with sirens going. Then I was awoke at 1am with yelling and screaming outside my door and then again at 5am as people were cussing and yelling in the parking lot outside my window and in the hallway as well. The room was good and I would recommend the room but everything else fell way short!

Great price for around Los Angeles. Decent neighborhood and renovated facility. Would stay again.

No sunshine in your room to wake you up. Room is really very nicely done and quite large. Bed was very comfy. Shiny clean. The pool is clean, but the pool area is depressing. We were there in Dec. Pools look better when the weather is hot. The hotel was quiet, again, between TG & Xmas, occupancy was low. The interior courtyard area with the pool is very cramped, in summer with a bunch of kids in there I would think it would be pretty loud. I was not particularly impressed with front desk staff. They knew their jobs, but did not seem to care if anyone was there or not. Nobody offered even a smile that wasn't required by protocol. Never saw anyone from housekeeping, but the room was always done when we got there. Continental breakfast is what you would expect 'for free', a little something to get you going 'till you could get to 'real food'. No computer in lobby for guests to use if you don't have your own. For the money we paid it was fine. If I was going to have to spend a lot of time at the hotel I would be depressed.

The Hotel was located a couple of miles from the freeway - a slight inconvenience but the value was worth the trip. The place doesn't exactly have curb appeal however our room looked like it was just remodeled. Great marble bathroom, comfortable beds, everything new and very clean. The staff was friendly and the clerk even printed my next days airline boarding pass without charge. Easy gated parking lot in the rear. My only complaints would be the free breakfast (not much to choose from) and the fact that there weren't a lot of great places to eat nearby.

This is a great place to stay and the longer you stay they give a discount. It is a ways off the 101 freeway, but worth the drive. It has been recently remodeled and remodel was done quite tastefully. I am working in Beverly Hills and spend 3 to 4 nights a week here. Haven't tried the continental breakfast (leave to early). I really like the place.

The service is really good and room is clean, but the decoration, furniture and building structure are just poor. Considering the price, you can definitely find a better one.

Due to a new job and an immediate relocation, I had to find a hotel to stay in for a week that was close to my new job. I needed something affordable and something close, so I was willing to sacrifice the finer things. However, when I got to the hotel and saw the room, I was so excited! The room was huge, clean, really exceeded my expectations. The pool was small, but very clean and no one really used it, so there would be plenty of room if someone chose to. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and worked with me the whole week. I was happy about the gated parking, because the area seemed a little seedy, but I felt completely safe and comfortable the whole stay. Highly recommended!!!

Terrible neighborhood, ants crawling around in the room, I heard a complaint there that the room one person got wasn't even made up. I got this for the price, but it's just not worth it, and I have low expectations.

We were very happy with our choice. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Close to everything we needed. The people at the front desk couldn't be nicer. Ok breakfast, but at least it was breakfast. Felt safe. The neighborhood didn't bother us. Had a great time. Thanks!

Our expectations weren't high. We were just happy with a peaceful place to rest. A few things come to mind about the hotel. Just for added information: -There is no lift to the second floor. Inconvenient for the well-prepared traveler. -Housekeepers didn't speak English. It made it difficult since we were often in the room during those times, BUT these women did do their best to communicate ideas and ask questions in the best English they knew, and they were very pleasant. -Vending machine didn't work. Only one offered water, which it was out, and it wouldn't return money. We had to go buy our own. Be warned on those few things. Besides a few things, we were pleased with our stay. It was quiet and clean, and that's all we needed.

The Hotel was very clean as it has been remodeled and updated. The room was very clean and comfy during our stay. The pool was a bit small but we had no time to take a dip. The free continental breakfast was good. The location was just about right, not too far from the 101/405, and many places to eat near by as well as a pharmacy/market store right next to the hotel. They do have secured parking, and overall you can't go wrong for the money.. We will be back again.

Front desk personnel courteous and professional. Unfortunately, the rooms were not clean. Soap residue from previous guest in shower. Desk had not been wiped down.

The room was clean and confortable. The hotel staff were very nice. We stayed four days and would like to stay there again.
