Milner Hotel - Boston

The proximity to town was good. The staff at the check in desk were helpful, polite and friendly. Although the rooms were small and decorated in an old fashioned style it was in keeping with the age of the hotel. The breakfasts contents and facilities were very good. and clean.

My room was very small, but for the price and location, and the fact that I was only spending one night, it was managable. My only disappointment was the lack of a door for the bathroom. A visitor -- or me -- trying to use the facilities would no privacy whatsoever. I actually had to walk out of the room to give my visitor privacy. If I do return, I will attempt to verify privacy issue before booking.

The room is too small, the bathroom is bigger than the room and the bed sleeps terrible.

Stayed in a room with my girlfriend for one night after seeing a show at the Wang Theater. Some of the comments on the hotel seemed unfair after we stayed and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean albeit small. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was immaculate. For $138 a night, it was definitely worth it and if we stay in Boston again, it will be at the Milner.

I stayed in a standard room which was a full bed. It reminded me of old hotels in Europe. I didn't get the twin bed size because I was staying in Boston for a few nights and wanted more room. My room was very and comfortable and I looked forward to crashing after a day of meetings. The night concierge was very personable. The check in person was not. The check out person was very pleasant as well.

The hotel room was very small but that is to be expected in somewhere like Boston. The location was absolutely fantastic, and it was within easy walking distance of the T. The only thing that was wrong was that I could never get the thermostat to work correctly, so my room was very muggy and stuffy and humid.

Small, adequate rooms - comfortable bed, large bathrooms, and quiet! Staff friendly and helpful, and location is safe and in the heart of Boston.

Thin walls and slamming doors are not a good combination. I left one night early because I needed to sleep.

I was informed on check in that I was being upgraded. My room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A continental breakfast is provided free and was really great with bagels, pastries and muffins, fruit, waffles, yogurt, cereals and juices all avaible. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Great location. Room was small. Air conditioner didn't work properly.

great little room, it was tiny, but only needed it for 1 night, staff was nice, only downfall was the 1 nightstand and there was room for 2 even in the small space!

Small room but that didn't really bother me. No smaller than your typical European room. But the bed was very uncomfortable (both hard as rock and so sloped that it was hard to keep from rolling onto the floor). Room itself could use some work (sink needed new grout, air conditioner old, etc). Still, friendly service, loved the location and the price was right.

My Best Friend and I stayed for 2 nights at the Milner and we really had no compaints for what we paid. It was 3 blocks from the show that we were there to see and from Boston Commons. The neighborhood was very nice and Newbury Street was about 5 blocks away. Also,the staff was just wonderful!!! The only inconvience was trying to get up the stairs with luggage while trying to keep the front door open. Yes, the rooms are small, but the set up of our room was just fine... it totally reminded us of a dorm room. Oh, and breakfast was just enough food and there were healthy choices, too. I would definitely recommend The Milner to anyone on a budget and for anyone who doesn't think they are "too good" to stay in a less than 4-star hotel. Really, we just slept, showered, and got dressed there... it was Perfect for that!

I've been doing business traveling for 30 years, this is definately the worse. Room was way too small, bed was only 39 inches wide, no lights in bathroom, the toilet was up against the side wall, very uncomfortable, the window however small it was, you could not see through because of the dirt. Hallways very narrow, noise travelled. Had to get myself drunk so I could get to sleep. You are not doing yourself a favor by posting this sub-par youth hostel.

Hotel is clean and the staff (college kids) is attentive. The rooms are very small. If the room is part of the exprience, you should not go here. If the room is simply for sleeping, its good bet. Location is good, next to the New England Law School and across the street from four or five resturants.

Many reviews site the small rooms as a major knock on this hotel. However, I found the rooms to be big enough and very comfortable with myself and one other. They were clean and good. Recommended.

Extremely friendly staff and a fantastic location. The hotel itself looks a little run down, but the facilities are fine. For the price, you won't find better - the location is absolutely ideal for central Boston and access to the T (Boylston Street - on the green line).

We spent a week taking in the town using a 7 day transit pass - one nice feature is that the hotel is convenitently located near several stations - the Med Center Orange Line station is less than a block away. Easy to get to the north or south stations/downtown crossing, etc. We went everywhere, Lowell, Plymough, Lexington/Concord, via public transit/commuter rail.

Basic lodging, good location...nothing more.

I was somewhat worried what to expect after reading the reviews already posted. However, I was so pleased. The room was comfortable for two people and very clean. The staff was very nice and our check in/out took no time at all. Additionally, the staff was very helpful with directions to local attractions. The location was amazing! If you are planning on seeing a show in the theater district this is your best bet. Lastly, they offer a discount on the parking in a nearby garage which was very reasonable ($26) a day for Boston is cheap.

The room was 9x12-no chair, no table, bed pushed against the wall. One place for a piece of luggage. Smaller than my closet at home.

The hotel is old and the rooms are small. I was unaware at first how to operate some of the equipment, shower lever, heating and air conditioning. Except for this, the hotel exceeded my expectations. Clean, great service, great location, good breakfasts, friendly staff. get a room in front if you can. I will not hesitate to return

I only stayed here one night because the hotel I wanted to stay at was booked. It was a small room, but I was only one person staying there. It was quaint and I loved it. Bathroom was a good size for being a small room. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bed however was not comfortable. It was hard and lumpy. They could use a new one in that room (Room#101). There was a nice small breakfast included with the price. Overall, I would stay here again if my other hotel was booked. Great deal for a great price.

We have always had luck with hotels.com. We did not in this instance. We have never stayed in such a tiny room, ever-- and it was expensive. The walking space around the three sides of the bed could not accommodate an open suitcase and our feet. The window opened on a bricked shaft heavily decorated by pigeons. The room and hotel, as a whole, were dated, but for the bathroom. One might expect the rates to be high because it was graduation weekend but we stayed in a lovely, spacious renovated place the remainder of our stay. The cost of breakfast was alos included in that room rate. It cost 20% less and had a far better location. This was an incrdible disappointment and we would have moved to another hotel had there been openings.

If you are looking for a moderately priced hotel to just spend the night, it is great. However, the rooms are very small. Also, parking was expensive and not included in the rate.

I'm surprised what other people expect from lodgings of any type. Like the staff really didn't know who/what they were dealing with. As if....But I found everything I needed and more from the Milner. I stayed there for a few nights during a recent Red Sox homestand and I was very plesed with what I found and how I was treated. Small rooms or cozy? Slow elevators..so I got a cxhance to chat with my fellow travelers. They promised waffles but there were none, But I don't really like waffles that early. The "T" seemed much closer than two blocks. I got to Fenway in about 30 minutes. Easy transitions from Orange to Green lines. The price has taken a seasonal jump, but I'll always check out this place when making plans for Boston.

Very small room as I expected. I wasn't spending much time there so that wasn't a problem. Found the room very clean and the twin bed was comfortable to sleep on. Would stay there again with no hesitations.

This hotel is absolutely perfect if you're visiting Boston to see Boston and not stay in your room all day. Small, but fine if you're just there to sleep and shower. Good breakfast, clean rooms, great staff I will stay here any time I'm back in Boston.

I was very nervous about staying at the hotel from the other reviews I read on here. So going there I was very hisitant and didnt bring anything with me for fear of bedbugs. Once there the staff was good and the hallwall smelled of fresh made waffles so all and all fine. yes the other reviews were rigth saying the halls and rooms are small but you get what you pay for. Our A/C unit wasnt in the window real well so we could hear even girls high heels on the street outside but all and all a great buy for the money I spent.

Very Small room but for the price it was fine

I stayed alone in a twin room. The room was not luxurious by any means. The empty floor space was about the size of the twin bed. This hotel will not wow you... but it is relatively cheap and in a great location. If you're looking to save some money and stay in a room that can be described as adequate, this is a good pick.

The single full size bedroom we had chosen was a lot smaller than the picture from the websites. We felt very claustrophobic. The bed was almost on the floor and was the most uncomfortable bed that we have ever slept on. The bed was hard as a rock. Other than that, it was very clean and the employees were nice.

It was a quaint room (standard), great for me alone, but maybe not so great for people who like to stay a while in their rooms. Great as a base for roaming Boston and visiting people at Tufts New England Medical Center. The price was great and less than the neighboring hotels. The Staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating. It was a little chilly at night, but there was no temp adjustment that I could find. I stay again.

Great hotel! Super clean! Very cute! Fantastic location. Annie was super friendly, she was the receptionsist! She gave us great ideas about where to go. Mike made the best waffles in town! The location is prime and the cost is great too! Everyone was so friendly! We would go again in a heartbeat! Enjoy your stay! The Milner hotel made our trip to Boston a memorable one. Thank you!

I loved the location although I wasn't expecting it to be as worn looking in my room. Caters to europeans and young adults probably secondary to the cost. Provided a wonderful continental breakfast and the employees were outstanding and gracious.
