We arrived to a very pleasant receptionist who told us everything we needed to know about the hotel, was given our key and then told if we needed anything just to ring. The room was very clean and tidy and the decor was bright. The bathroom was exceptionally clean. The bed was made for us everyday and looked good when we walked in. We ran out of milk etc and within 10mins of asking for some it was delivered. We decided not to eat in the hotel because we wanted to see and eat in the sights of Dublin so no comment there.

Good value, clean, comfortable hotel, convenient location being less than a 5 minute walk from the central bus station which if arriving by air is linked to Dublin airport by the Airlink bus service (10 euro return) and across the road from Connolly train station with trains to the coast at Howth and Bray and also the Luas tram stop for trams to other parts of the city. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful and the breakfast buffet more than adequate....Excellent!....but do pay the extra for an Executive room or suite in the new extension.

Good location to city centre etc but in a bit of a rough area. Room ok but really noisy. You hear pretty much everything. In a five night stay was woken after 11 pm twice by the fire alarm going off for no apparent reason. Complained at reception and wasn't really given much of an explanation.

Great budget hotel. Nice decor. Excellent staff...one flight of stairs to reception, but our bags were carried. Excellent security. Room spacious and clean. We loved it. Fit our budget and exceeded expectations. Walking distance from all sights..or bus stop. Eat at Dominium behind hotel. Nice place, good pizza.

When I arrived at the hotel at 8:30am in the morning I was supprisingly impressed with the overall feel of the boutique style hotel. The look hotel was very much up to date and very 20th century. The staff were very helpful and allowed us to check in early as normally check in is 2pm. The rooms were very clean and tidy however it would be nice to see the interior of the rooms match the same theme as the rest of hotel as this would make it extra special. I would most defintely re-visit the hotel if/when I return to Dublin.

I upgraded to the new suites which gave me a king size pillowtop bed...it was extra comfy and made for a good night's sleep. Was convenient and close to the bus station and a ~15 minute walk to Croke Park. The suite I had was quiet, despite a train running right out my back window -- I was on the back side of the hotel. The front side is noisy, so as others have mentioned here, if you can get a room on the backside, but all means do so.

Very hot and no a/c. The outlets in the room did not fit into the walls properly. No screens on the sliding glass door, lots of flys. Rail road runs adjacent to the hotel every 10 minutes from 7:00am until 10:30 pm. Only after we decided to transfer to another hotel did they turn on the a/c. It would run during the day but they would turn it off from 11:00 pm until 7:00 am. We would wake up miserable in the middle of the night. The breakfast was not very good. The room is located in the basement and it was stiffling hot. The staff were nice but they could not help the poor accomidations.

The air conditioning was broken in all 4 rooms. All 4 rooms were old and dirty. No elevator in hotel from lobby to parking and ground level. Even though we booked club rooms (3 floors of more updated rooms) we were given the old ones and had a series of battles with staff and managers to finally get club rooms for our last night at the hotel. Club rooms are much better...but location of hotel is not good. Across the river from all the downtown dublin action. Too far from temple bar area where all the sights are.

Pros: 1. Hotel's location- 5-10min walk to the Liffey, 5-10 min walk to O'Connell St and the Spike, across the street from the LUAS, and lots of shops and places to eat nearby. 2. Very amiable maintenance staff who kept the room clean and neat. Cons: 1. No WiFi available in my room (when I stayed)- had to go down to the residents lounge to use it, and it was 4 Euros for an hour. 2. Yes, there is a DART train that runs next to the hotel. Caution to light sleepers. 3. There were no shades to the window- just a drape. 4. No alarm clock- use your cell phone.

the North Star Hotel is in a central location close to the bus park for the airport and 10 mins from the Temple bar area by foot. On the down side, we stayed in a standard room that smelled a bit damp but was so close to the railway line it rattled the window! this along with the singing bottle man every mornin meant there was no chance of a sleep in but if you don't mind noise your in a good spot!!......

The hotel has a brilliant location, it's clean enough, value for money is definitely ok, but the hotel is quite noisy as it is central - trainline in direct proximity, therefore use this as a hotel if you are up for a party weekend and don't expect to sleep that much...

So we had to open the window to get the room cool (visited in july) and when we opened the window we would hear the train to mindnight then again at 6am. So if you visit on a cooler month you should be good but if you want to open the windows...you'll hear the trains.

We arrived at our room and to our surprise we had been given one of the premier suites. The room was fantastic, with a huge double bed and a lovely little balcony. The only complaint would be that the room was too hot, but that was more due to the muggy weather than the room. They had also arranged a shuttle bus to the RDS arena for a small fee for guests. Overall a fantastic stay and i would highly recommend it.

The room was poor standard not worth the money paid and did not come close to the pictures shown on the internet. The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom was cleaned to a low standard. To top it all off the railway line ran over the hotel reception and past our window, ear plugs were a must.... very over priced for the standard of hotel.

The worst hotel stay I've had in years. Granted we only stayed for a few hours since we arrived at 2am due to a flight delay but honestly if we arrived any earlier we probably would have left. Hallways smelled like smoke and the room had visible mildew on the walls. The mattress was also something equivalent to an old dorm room. I could go on, but I think my point is clear.

Well located, with a good cafe round the corner for breakfast -10 euros a head in the hotel is over the top given we paid 25 euro a head, a night for the room! Not so sure about the claims of 550m from Temple Bar, but certainly wasn't out of walking distance. Very comfy bed. We were on the road side of the hotel - was a little noisy but soon got used to it. Ideal for the Airlink bus from the airport - 100 yards max. Although the room was clean, there were stains on the carpert - That said if we could get anyway near the same rate, we would have no hesitations to saty again!

This is a comfy hotel and teh decor is really nice. My onoly gripe would be iof you are planning to hang around the hotel during the day, then you are going to be disturbed by trains - allthough this isn't a huge problem. I suspect that most people going here would be enjoying the bars and restaurants of Dublin late into the night and by then the trains have stopped! i will be going back here as it's directly opposite Connoly train station which makes it ideal for commuting from the ferries.

I really enjoyed my stay at the North Star hotel, really convenient location, between the bus station and the train station, a ten minute walk from town. I know other people have complained that the trains were too noisy but I didn't hear a single train from our room. Can't speak for the other rooms though. I wouldn't book breakfast as it was revolting but there are plenty of other places to eat nearby so that wasn't a problem. Very friendly staff and overall a lovely place.

The worst thing happened at the very end of my stay, my wife ordered a wake up call at 4.40 and a cab at 5.20 in the morning, then at 5.25 we received a call from the front desk that the cab was waiting outside. When I asked what had happend with the missed wake up call the clerk answered nonchalantly that it was not his fault because nobody told him. Obviously the driver kept the meter running the whole time and we ended paying more than double fare, luckily we we didn't miss our flight, but it was close. Besides the hotel advertises free wi -fi in all of their executives rooms, but when asked the receptionist informed me that it was not yet installed and offered a wireless password for 5 euros per hour to be used in the lobby. As it turned out that did not work either during my entire stay. The only good thing was the location but the noise from the railway station makes the whole building shake. You can find something much better and cheaper in that neighborhood.
