The stay was worth the $$ however, add $14 to the price if you plan to use their parking garage. Distance to the Inner Harbor is more than 6 blocks. Neighborhood is less than desirable.

Upon arrival, the registration attendant did not go out of his way to welcome us to the hotel, and basically he didn't open his mouth until handing us the keys to the room and he said "here;" However, other than that, our room was wonderful. We didn't have any complaints. If you are planning on walking to areas such as Camden Yards and the Harbor, you may want to map out a route before walking. We didn't and we ended up on some not-so-clean streets. But again, for the price we paid, it was a very nice stay and we would stay there again.

The neighborhood was decent... not necessarily the best part of Baltimore, but safe enough. Parking was fine. $4 for the night at the garage across the street (which is cheap compared to other parts of Baltimore). The room was fine. Nothing spectacular. But the price was great. A $65 room usually guarantees you a dump, but this place was great for what we paid. It was nice to have a full breakfast included as well. I would absolutely recommend the Mount Vernon Hotel to others.

We stayed here because the price couldn't be beat. We were VERY pleased with the ease and location of this hotel. Most of the staff were very friendly, it is close to Inner Harbor and has safe surroundings. Parking is guarded and underground for a good price per stay. The free buffet breakfast was AMAZING and the highlight of our stay. They had everything you could think of and all great foods and sides. We will definitely be staying here next time we come to Baltimore. Please feel comfortable booking here, it really is a great place to stay and good value.

The low price represents of the poor customer service. I knew that we would not exactly receive luxury accommodation, but it appeared that the hotel had not been renovated in at least 15 years and the breakfast was gross and seemed to be out of everything. The customer service was substandard. When we arrived the clerk offered us a parking pass- which was great. However, she neg. to disclose that the parking was a fee. When we checked out the manager asked me how would I liked to pay for the parking. I stated, you can place the cost on my credit, but you should know that the clerk. He smirk and was non-responsive to my coment. They stated that I should have known that there would be a cost to park. I retorted that- I am not disputing that fact, however, it would have been appreciated to learn of a cost on the front end. Simply put, I paid the cost, but did not appreciate the confrontation. I would not recommend this hotel.

We came there and the concierge was not only hospitable but kind and down to earth too. He referred us to a very nice restaurant in lil Italy. The restaurant was classy and the food was great. We would go back there and to the hotel itself and we already reccommended to another couple who is looking to go down soon. We would definitely reccommend them and go back there too.The food choices for breakfast were very satisfying.

10-15 min walk to inner harbor, very good location and good neighborhood underground parking is $14 a day, unlimited in and out, use hotel key to enter on Cathedral Ave (one way street), good choice if you prefer safety, have lots of luggage or small children, or drive a lot during stay. parking garage across street is $4 on weekends, forgot how much on weekdays ($8-10?), per use. free breakfast is very good, lunch and dinner choice not so, better eat out. room is clean, a/c is working and not too noisy front desk staff is the best asset, really friendly and helpful business center not so good, only 1 computer, is slow, the only printer was not working. but you have free wireless internet access in your room. overall, a very good place to stay at inner harbor area unless you fancy 5 star hotels.

First, if you're looking for something very affordable and can't afford to stay somewhere else, then I can say it would not be awful to stay here. However, our experience started off very poorly as we were given a room key to a room already occupied by someone else -- not once, but twice. So obviously, we walked in on not one, but two of the hotel's guests. At that point my boyfriend and I were ready to leave. However, I was concerned of losing the cash for the late cancellation and a nicer, apologetic employee offered to first inspect the third room assigned to us to ensure it was indeed vacant and clean, which he did. The issue with the first staff member was not only that she gave us a key for an occupied room twice, but more so that she did not once apologize for the error. Thankfully, the gentleman who helped us next was very apologetic. He offered to cover our parking fee, however, we had already parked in the lot across the street because it was much cheaper than the hotel's parking ($4 for 24 hours on a weekend compared to hotel parking at $14 a day). The room itself was clean. Though the hallways smelled sort of like mildew. Also, most hotels have many TV channels available, but this hotel had maybe 10-15 channels (roughly). That wasn't an issue for us because we were out in the city the entire time, but may be an issue for another guest. The hotel did redeem itself with the free, full breakfast that included pancakes, bacon, eggs and other hot foods along with the usual fruit, muffins and juice. The pancakes were great, but the bacon, not so much. We probably would not have eaten there if it weren't free. Also, the walk feels pretty far from the hotel the to the Inner Harbor on a hot, humid summer day. The walk to the Harbor wasn't bad, but walking back after a long day at the aquarium was pretty rough and part of it is up hill on the way back to the hotel. A cab, bus or private vehicle would obviously address that. Good water pressure in the shower, very

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The bathroom floor was filthy, there was mold in the grooves of the shower and the water in the shower did not work. The room smelled like body odor. The breakfast that was offered was disgusting and I rather have eaten at McDonalds. The neighborhood was somewhat sketchy and you had to exit your car to unlock the garage. When I complained about the water not working in the shower, the girl at the desk shrugged her shoulders and told me I probably didn't pull on the handle hard enough.

Hotel was a good value for the money. Only issues, the bathroom door was difficult to close, & the ac didn't cool the room to our liking. Complimentary breakfast was good and included hot items (pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc.) Indoor parking was extra money & the spaces weere very tight but cheaper than parking in the Inner Harbor. About an 8 block walk to the Inner Harbor & a couple of blocks coming back is uphill but doable. I would definitely stay there again.

I admit I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel from seeing the negative reviews, but it seems like the renovations that took place a year ago have definitely improved it. It's a short walk away from the Inner Harbor and the Baltimore Convention Center, but I would recommend getting a taxi after sundown. The alleyways by the sidewalk are fine in daylight, but better safe than sorry (and the taxi is cheap; $5 from the BCC to Vernon including tip!). Though there are other choices right by the Inner Harbor, I doubt those offer comparable rates to Vernon, especially during the peak summer travel time and convention I booked a room for. That being said, Mt. Vernon has a lot to offer for its modest rates. Don't expect fancy room service or rose petals on the comforters, but the double room was clean, spacious, and had linens and towels that were changed daily. The AC worked flawlessly throughout my four night stay (sometimes too well; I found myself setting it to Lo on occasion). The staff was extremely helpful and friendly; one was kind enough to print a boarding pass for me when their public printer ran out of ink. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. Aside from the usual cereal and milk, the hot, generously proportioned offerings were also nice. Be sure to catch the set hours on the breakfast vouchers, though. Towards the end of the morning you may run into a large line, but I never saw them run out of anything while I stayed there.

The location was a bit inconvenient. It wasn't safe to walk to/from the light rail at night. Taxi to harbor ran between $6 and $7. The taxi to BWI airport was a flat rate of $35 instead of the $30 for Inner Harbor properties. Room was very large and clean however the bedside lamp was broken (switched bulbs and outlets - no luck) but wasn't there long enough to make it an issue. The free breakfast buffet was decent but with a convention in town of teenagers/young adults, it was a feeding frenzy and the staff seemed disinterested in keeping food supplied to the line. The hotel clerks and management were helpful and attentive providing info about the area and transportation tips.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable except for the pillows which were a little past their prime. Only problems we experienced were difficulty with the shower faucet handle. Apparently, it had just been replaced and needed strong arming to turn on and off. Phone worked fine but for some reason the speaker came on periodically with the dial tone. We eventually just unplugged it. Walls were a little thin, but somewhat noisy neighbors quieted by about 11:00. Breakfast was nice however, we could have used another hour on the serving time. (They quit serving at 9am and we arrived a little before 10 one morning. Would have been nice to have a few items self serve after closing. Parking is very tight as commented previously, but clean and as safe feeling as a parking garage can be. We were checking out MICA and it was conveniently located for us, easy in and out and plenty to do in walking distance. We had previously stayed in a reputable chain hotel closer to the Inner Harbor. That chain is a common one for us because to the consistency of their hotels. We did not return there because we were quite disappointed in the hotel itself. The Mount Vernon was a very nice place to stay and we would definitely recommend it to anyone and we will probably stay again in the future.

The Mt Vernon is relatively inexpensive considering the area. But it is a good (and beneficial) walk to the Inner Harbor. The location of the hotel is pretty much in between the Inner Harbor and the Mt Vernon district. The hotel staff was accomodating. We were awoken multiple times in the morning by people downstairs and also had the misfortune to have a crying baby next door and then loud rap music at 9AM. The buffet breakfast was good, but they ran out of coffee. Location is great, we were able to walk to Camden Yards. Park in the garage across the street, as at least on the weekends it is cheaper. Not a bad place we just got stuck with a badly located room.

On the hotel web site they claim that they are generous with their towel. The reality is that they are the complete opposite. I checked in with 4 people and only had 1 wash cloth and 3 towels. On their web site they claim that they have parking for $14 a day. What they don't tell you is that they don't have enough spots for the amount of rooms they have. So you have to park in a parking lot across the street at the opposite end of the block. You end up spending alot more money for parking. And alot of guess that were checking in that day weren't happy about it at all. On their web site they claim that they give you a hot breakfeast. What they don't tell you is that its only from 6am to 9am and then they close. So if you're not one to get up at the crack of dawn then you won't get the breakfest. They claim that they have a safe in the room for you to use. What they don't tell you is that they charge $1.50 for every time you use it. They have a sign on the floor that indicates ice and vending machines. But the reality is that they have NO ICE MACHINE or vending machine. I brought drinks with me but I wasn't able to keep it cold because of no ice. I don't know how they can hold the title of Hotel because they don't meet the criteria of a hotel. They should be a motel but then again a motel at least has an ice machine. The only thing the hotel had is a room, laundry room and a cafe that is only open 6am to 9am. As far as the cleanleness of the hotel.....well lets put it this way....when I turn back the sheets there was a hair in the bed and there was a hair in the bathroom. The hotel claims it was recently renovated but it doesn't look like it was. As far as the saftey of the hotel....well lets put it this way...it reminded me of staying at a getto motel. If you want to tour the inner harbor I would recommend spending the extra money to stay closer to the harbor unless you like spending alot of time in traffic trying to get to and from the harbor.I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND T

The staff was very friendly, the hotel was very nice looking with an old (but well-kept) downtown city style. The room was small, but more than sufficient considering we only planned to be there to sleep. It was only a short hike from the Inner Harbor and National Aquarium, and about five bucks for a cab ride (which were constantly driving by or waiting out front.) There was parking directly across the street for four bucks, which covered us for more than 24 hours. The ice machine was out of order, the free breakfast was as terrible as all of the other comments said it was, and one of the elevators smelled like puke on Sunday morning (but that's no surprise because everybody at breakfast looked very hung over, myself included!) Considering that the room was a quarter the price of something on the harbor, and parking was almost free, I really can't complain about the overall experience. I would stay there again. The hotel more than exceeded my expectations in every aspect except the free breakfast, and that doesn't really matter.

The Mount Vernon Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and small shops, and the service staff was courteous and cheerful. The rooms were cleaner than expected, if not luxurious, but I would definitely rate them above average. Hot water was plentiful (unlike many hotels in that area of Baltimore), there is a laundry room, a cafeteria, a business center, and a well stocked vending and ice-machine area. The one complaint I have is about the garage; I was not informed immediately that I needed to use my hotel room key to enter the garage (which is closed and locked 24 hours). Therefore, I found myself driving around Baltimore lost due to the one-way streets, as I was forced to keep driving past the locked garage. I would suggest that the hotel print these directions on the card that they give you to leave in your car (which already has street directions on it). Also, the garage rates are a bit steep, but this is not unusual for hotels in the Inner Harbor area. Overall, very pleased with my stay. Again, kudos to the staff of the Mt. Vernon for superior service. I would most definitely stay here again.
