Had no idea about all the construction going on outside the hotel. Ended up walking up and down the block trying to find the entrance even though apparently the doorman saw us get out of the taxi. The breakfast was great and the bed was comfortable. Some days we had better service than other days. Good Location to the Prado and other museums, little far from the shopping and restaurants.

Outstanding location is convenient for all major attractions in Madrid. Rooms are spacious and beds are extremely comfortable. Perhaps the highlight is the excellent staff--kind and always willing to help without the slightest hint of pretentiousness.

The Westin Palace Madrid is a beautiful, well maintained hotel. The staff -(concierge, housekeeping, restaurant personnel, business center) were extremely helpful and pleasant. The business area provides 30 minutes of free internet access, which most times was sufficient, though sometimes I had to wait for one of the 4 PCs. No free internet access in your rooms with your own PC. Breakfast was great. The location was great. The rooms were very comfortable - twin beds larger than those in other European hotels. It was expensive but I felt worth the money and comfort.

The Westin Palace was a perfect hotel choice to end a long journey through Italy and Spain. Not only does it have a grand presents in Madrid, it is next to the Paseo Del Prado and convenient to museums, points of interest and shopping areas. Our room was a premium deluxe with two twin beds and I must say the most comfortable beds on our vacation. The room was very quiet and comfortable. Our bathroom was well appointed but the door needs a fresh coat of paint. Our room rate included the breakfast buffet in the spectacular dining hall, with its domed ceiling and tradional furnishings. The buffet was well stocked for European and American tastes. My only complaint is the coffee which needs improvement. We found the staff to be very nice, always with a smile and most spoke english. The conceirge was helpful with recommendations and reservations. Our favorite Restaurant recommendation was the Corral De La Moreria Flamenco- Restaurant. Over all we are very satisfied with the Westin Palace and with the rate that we received through Hotels .com.

The Palace is a vintage 5 star hotel in one of the best locations in Madrid. We were in walking distance to the Prado, the Reina Sofia, Atocha station, Retiro park and other museums, plaza del Sol and shopping. However, it did show its age. My wife complained there was an odor in the room (I never noticed it), the sconce light needed repair, and the tiles in the bathroom were sticking out of the wall. We were two adults and one child, so the room was somewhat cramped with a fold out bed. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet was incredible and the service impeccable. This alone made our stay a remarkable value.

The hotel looks beautiful as you walk through the foyer and around the Rotunda restaurant. It is very well situated in the old part of Madrid just across the road from the Prado museum. It has a good business centre with free internet and friendly staff. The room itself was on the second floor, rather shabby (the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling slightly, the door surrounds in the bathroom were a little worse for wear and one side of the frame of the main door to the room was coming away from the wall.) We had 2 aduldts and 1 child staying and had to ask for a 3rd towel for the first 2 days of our stay. We had to ring service for soap, shower gel and shampoo as they did not replenish these items every day. There was a lot of food on offer at breakfast but it was not great quality - we ended up just having fruit. In the room there is a note saying you could order a cup of tea or coffee per person per day and you only had to pay the room service charge of 5 euro - each time we ordered we were presented with a bill for 27 euro which of course I refused to sign (be careful of add on charges on your bill at the end of your stay as even though I had not signed for the room service they were still charged at end of stay). I've stayed in a few 5 star hotels around the world and this would certainly not be one of the best.

I had a wonderful time on my recent trip to Spain at the Westin Palace Hotel. It was a beautifully decorated and well maintained property, and the service was fantastic. Very fast for all requests and very polite staff. However, the hotel is very formal, so please consider that when choosing where to stay in Madrid... may not be best for children and all people.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for four nights. The hotel's location can't be beat. It's walking distance to major museums, plazas, restaurants, shopping and other attractions. The buffet breakfast was also a pretty good deal since it was included in the price of our stay. The concierge was quite helpful and was available until 1 am! Guests also received 30 mins of free internet at their business center. Highly recommend the hotel.

The Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid, Spain was exceptional. I found it extremely elegant, clean and beautiful. Its location is the best in Madrid. It is across the street from El Prado and a 15 minute walk from El Parque del Buen Retiro, La Fuente de Cibiles, La Puerta del Sol and la Plaza Mayor. It is about a 20 minute walk to El Palacio Real. La Plaza de Toros is a one hour walk from the hotel but I walked it several times since the scenery was great. It is the queen of hotels in Madrid with excellent service for its guests. I spent a week at this hotel and I cannot express how pleased I am with this hotel and the service I received.

We stayed four nights on the 6th floor (Starwood Preferred Level). My only complaint is that some of the carts used by the maids to clean the rooms were left in the hallway. Stay at the Westin Palace when in Madrid. No complaints. Great service. If I had a question about the heat, needed more towels, etc., someone knocking on my door within minutes. There was only one negative is that it's not handicap accessible, I was traveling with my mom who is a senior citizen and after a long day, there's a steep flight of stairs to climb in the lobby to reach the elevators, this is most likely to be part of the original construction and probably nothing can be done. I thought there might be a secret elevator but I saw someone in a wheelchair being lifted up the stairs.

Buffet breakfast is very good. The staff is responsive and will deal with any issues that arise with grace. In general, a 5 star hotel would be one that does not need much room for improvement. Things that could be improved on include updating all rooms and decreasing the cost of basic things such as wireless access (this was about 16 euros per hour and around the city you could get 3 hours for 4 euros). Also, we paid for a 24 hour all inclusive TV & internet bundle there. Our internet did not work the last few hours. This was not fixed. However, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The location was very good and staff quick and professional. For the price it was what you would expect.

We loved the convenience of the location of the Westin- i.e, close to the Prado, and Reina Sofia museums, and the gorgeous El Retiro Park with it's beautiful gardens and lake in which to rent boats and paddle around. The hotel has a very elegant presence on the lovely square and the lobby is very welcoming with lovely fresh flowers in amazing arrangements. The best part of travelling with families with kids is the breakfast buffet that is included!! in your room rate. The buffet is located in the glass conservatory room which is a great way to start your day. Also it is a very quick walk to the train station that takes you to surrounding towns in Madrid.

In a world where you get what you paid for, this is a perfect example. Although it is expensive, you really get your money's worth here. However, I thought it was cheap of the hotel to not include internet access in the price of the room (to have access for 24 hours, it was around 18 Euros). There is a certain air of sophistication that abounds all throughout this hotel, and I would gladly recommend it to others.
