The best part of staying at the Pulitzer is its location in the Jordaan district which is very lovely and the quick access to trams, buses, restaurants, and the Anne Frank House. We asked for, and received, a very quiet garden room. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful in every way. We love the Dutch! A few frustrating issues we had stemmed from housekeeping. Upon booking, we had called and emailed about changing from feather to polyester bedding since I'm allergic. When we arrived, jet-lagged and needing sleep, the king bed was covered with feather bedding. They did replace it but with queen sized polyester bedding. Neither my husband nor I were fully covered throughout the night. After the third night we changed to two twin covers...much better. The sink was stopped up for three days. They tried a chemical for a couple of days and eventually called in a plumber which fixed it. The light in the foyer was out the entire time. They gave us slippers and then one pair disappeared after housekeeping, as did the washcloths. My husband was running out to get coffee every morning until we heard that every room has a coffee service tray (ours didn't). They brought one in immediately. Each issue was addressed with friendliness and apology. They left a couple of little souvenirs but we would have felt better with some kind of compensation...maybe breakfast. It's frustrating that a hotel of this caliber wouldn't be more careful. Even so, we would return to the Pulitzer the next time we visit Amsterdam!

Five minutes walk to Dam square, 1 minute walk to Anne Franks house, 20 minutes walk to the Van Gogh Museum and yes.... 7 minutes walk to the Red Light District. If the weather is good this Hotels location is perfect but do bring an umbrella. The Hotel have their own canal boat, fantastic cruise with a very nice Captain. Not cheap but good value for a 70 minute cruise through the canals with full commentary from the Captain. The staff were friendly and anything we needed was no trouble to them. Room 381 was nice but smaller than I would have expected especially the bathroom but clean and comfortable. Don't expect a room with a view by default this hotel is based on internal courtyards so don't expect a canal view unless you book one. Our room was very quiet and had no noise problems.

This hotel somehow made us feel that we were the only guests. Nothing was too much trouble and nobody's smile slipped for a second. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed; just as well after covering hundreds of kilometers around the museums and streets of Amsterdam.

Comentado por P, deLondon, el feb 4, 2009
My wife and I found the location to be perfect for exploring the sites of Amsterdam. If you find walking a pain all forms of transport are on your doorstep. We had one of the rooms which look into the lightwell. However the room had everything except a view and it was located near the lifts so no stairs to negotiate which was ideal. The hotel is peaceful, charming, comfortable and freindly. We would stay again but there are so many places ans so little time.

Stayed for business and was happy about the convenient location and lovely room. Fast internet. The service was great although the taxi service seems like a mafia business. they were having serious arguments with the porters right in front of the lobby.

Teh Pulitzer is a really a wonderful hotel. The rooms are big by European standards. The beds are comfortable, the bathrrom very nice and the location is really good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is the currency exchange rate at the hotel was beyond excessive. They charged 1.75euro when the market was 1.33euro.

The Pulitzer is a great hotel. It's incredibly charming and in a great location. Close enough to everything yet far enough away it's not distracting. They FOREX exchange rate was terrible, but other than that, it was great.

Great location & bar but the rooms and common parts are not refurbished to the standard of a 5 STAR hotel, small gym, no pool, tired common parts and not worth the price.

This is a very nice hotel and the staff is very helpful. The rooms are well appointed, adequate in size, but not overly large. The hotel's location is excellent with many nice restaurants in the area, all within walking distance. You are a ten minute walk to Dam Square and just off Dam Square you can get tour busses to various venues of interest. The canal trip on their own 100 year old boat is fun and you do get to see parts of Amsterdam that you would otherwise not see. If you go in early April bring warm clothes and a rain coat as it rains quite a lot at that time of year.

The hotel recently revamped all of their beds, sheets, pillows - it was a knockout. I can't readily recall a more relaxing nights sleep. A nearby church bell rang softly each night. We were with another couple who also reported that they had a wonderful night's sleep owing to the great bed with large heavy duvet.

A weekend stay at Hotel Pulitzer was a real treat, luckily the hotel lived up to the expectations. We had a Executive room that was nice and comfortable. A few more furnitures would have made the room a bit more homely though.... The breakfast was excellent - I would recommend that a room is ordered with breakfast, since the quality is so good. The hotel is beautyfully placed centrally - a short walk to many things. Approx 40 Euros for a taxi to Schipol.
