Los turistas se acercan hasta aquí para pasear por las calles que en su día pisó Julio César, cuando este lugar era el centro de la vida comercial, política y jurídica. Great location and room very nice; however, during 4 days there consistently ran into very arrogant, dismal service from hotel employees. On first night there after long drive, the hotel bar employee didn't want to provide a drink 20 minutes prior to stated closure time, many other examples, some worse than this. Employees of the hotel don't seem to want to be there; if you can avoid them, this hotel is definitely a good choice.

Price was great as was the location. It was very central to all historic landmarks. I got to many of them by foot. The only down side is that I was there in August when it was a very hot time. BTW, the room did not have a coffee maker or iron. You will quickly find that European hotels are not the size of american ones.

We booked this hotel different times on our 17 day honeymoon. It was very conviently located next to the metro and close to the Colleseum. The first time we stayed here, we were in a cramped room with a tiny tv with 2 channels and the air conditioning broke for 2 of the 3 days of our first stay. The front desk was not helpful at all and kept giving us different stories, "the whole hotel has no air conditioning"-we talked to another couple who had it-so they lied. Then they said it would be fixed in 15 minutes and when it wasn't they said it would be fixed later in the afternoon. We were having serious regrets about the fact that we would have to come back to this place-but on our return our room was completely outstanding. It was bigger, newer, with a flat screen and hundreds of channels, and nicer freebees. We thought we were staying in a completely different hotel.

The hotel is located approx 200 meters from the Colosseum and metro is even closer, which was very convenient. There are a few restaurants and shops just outside of the hotel. We arrived around 11am and were informed that our room would not be ready until 2pm. They offered to secure our luggage until our room was ready. We returned to the hotel at approx 9pm and was able to get assistance with our luggage right away. We were immediately impressed with the room being spacious, bright, clean and decorated in a contemporary style, which was different to other European hotels we have stayed at. The beds and pillows were quite firm and took some time go get comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was decent and had a variety of items to choose from (i.e., eggs, bacon, freshly sliced meats, cereals, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, tea and water). The staff was friendly and efficient at cleaning tables and replenishing the food. My niece and I enjoyed staying at the hotel. She especially liked the house slippers! We both would stay here again and would recommend to others.

I read many reviews before I chose the Palatino, so I'll add mine to the mix. This hotel is right in the middle of all the action in Rome. We discovered that at the end our street was the Roman forum and if you turn off a side street there was the Colosseum. The Metro station was right behind the Hotel as well. Very easy location to get around and to enjoy Rome. The staff was also very friendly and helped when ever they could. Also several really good restaurants on the same street as the hotel and right next to the Forum. Couldn't have asked for a better hotel in Rome. Only downer was having to pay for Internet, but it wasn't that expensive.

This was our first stay when arriving in Rome. It is a little far from the train station for a walk in the heat. It is however, a cheap taxi ride. The staff were very friendly. The included breakfast had a great selection and good coffee provided by the staff. It is conveniently located in southern Rome and very close to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. There are also a great selection of restaurants within a couple blocks

Hotel staff was fantastic - very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Hotel rooms were a little small but clean and comfortable. The air conditioning, however, did not work very well. Breakfast buffet was adequate - not very many items to choose from but food quality was good. Location is walking distance to most Rome sites and a quick metro ride to the Vatican. Would definitely stay there again.

The location is close to the coloseum which was great but this is about the only plus about this hotel. The rooms are old and dingy. The bathrooms are very dated, I had to sponge bath outside of the bath because I was too disgusted with the bath itself. Also it's on a main street and we heard lots of noise from the street. The breakfast consisted of old recycled pastries--this is not a joke, it is the truth. We ended up getting breakfast somewhere else. Save your money and go somewhere else.

well as a tourist it's a very good hotel as it is so near to the coliseum and arc of Constantine, the palatine hill and also the forum of Rome so all of these places are just a walking distance. The room was so poor and so old also the bathroom but it was really clean. The breakfast was so not so bad just very little varieties ( scrambled egg, only 2 types of juice, 2 types of pastries, ham and cheese cold cuts). also there is good restaurants just around the hotel which were good. So i recommend this hotel for tourists who like walking tour.

Hotel is adequate and what you would expect based on what's listed in the profile. The location is good for those who fit in to one of the following categories: 1. purpose of trip is sightseeing -- if you're planning on being out during the day then this is a good spot. you're in walking distance of almost everything. the one place I would suggest not walking to is the vatican & for that you can jump on the metro (which is right next to hotel) & get to the vatican for 1 euro. if you plan on being out late in to the evenings then you may elect to stay closer to nighttime action (i.e. pantheon & piazza navona) 2. you're planning on doing day trips outside of rome. the hotel is about a 10-15 walk to the main train station in rome (termimi).

We had booked a triple, but the hotel did not have a triple available when we arrived, so they put us in one of their executive doubles. The room was not huge but was very nicely appointed. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. Hotel is very close to the Metro (Cavour stop) and a short walk from the Colosseum. There is a park between the Colosseum and the hotel which was good for jogging and had several ruins being excavated.

This was our first visit to Rome, as such I was looking for a hotel based on location. Since we planned to be out of the hotel all day sightseeing I did not want an expensive hotel. This hotel met all of our expectations. We walked to the hotel from Termini train station which was about 15 minutes. The room was not cramped and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, everything was fresh. The location is perfect for a tourist as you could walk to every major sightseeing location. The Colosseum is only a 5 minute walk. The Vatican can be reached by taking the Metro which is only a 2 minute walk to the station.

Restaurants a few streets behind the hotel were amazing and a pizza joint a few doors down from the hotel was open 24 hours - great when you get home at 4am! Not so many bars in the area but is a quick/cheap cab ride to the Trastevere area where there were loads of bars and even better restaurants. This hotel is in a good location for seeing all the sites as well as hitting the nightlife.

For Rome this hotel was excellent for the price. we booked a triple room and it was great. the beds were comfy after a long days walk in rome. there is a bus stop just out of the hotel. there is a supermarket across the stree. there is a metro stop 2min away. 5min walk to the colosseum. if your in rome to see sights all day then i would book this hotel. we were on the top floor on the side where we faced the busy street. with the windows closed it did not bother us. however in the summer when you would want the windows open i would request a room in advance on the other side of the hotel as i could see it might be pretty noisy. the breakfast was great. there are plently of places to eat near by. there is a internet/ice cream shop across from the hotel as well. the staff was excellent. this hotel is really underpriced for rome. i wish it was higher in the rankings for people to pick this hotel. we looked hours before we booked and we so happy with this hotel.

Our visit was for seven days in December 2008. Every morning we went down for the complimentary breakfast, which was awesome. There was much variety, with fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices, croissants and breads, toast with serveral varieties of jellies and jams. We enjoyed the cold meats and cheeses as well as the typical "american breakfast" of eggs and bacon. And plenty to satisfy the sweet tooth with the pastries available. Location is also very ideal, with a subway (metro) stop less than a block away. Some good restaurants are within a 5 min. walking distance. The room was clean, bathroom was immaculate. Our room was very spacious. The hotel seems to attract various travelers: business men, europeans, americans. We had hotel pickup for our tour guided excursions. Although we never dined at the hotel restaurant, it was always very busy and many were well off locals. We felt very safe. The only downside is that the water pressure for the shower in our room was very low. From what I hear, that is typical Europe or out of U.S. in general. It didn't bother us too much, as you could still shower no problem. Definitely would have no problem recommending this hotel.

This hotel is on Via Cavour in central Rome. Its location is just so ideal. Just 5 minutes walk away is the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatino, Termini station (Rome's main train station), and Via Imperioli which has numerous sites to see. The Church of San Giovanni is not so far away. You can walk to Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, about 20 mins away, and on the way there, you can see other sites and life in the city. The hotel is clean. The breakfast is scrambled eggs, croissants, buns, tea, coffee, bread, cornflakes, fruits and juices. But the staff are unhelpful and unco-operative. They dont seem too pleased to help when you ask them. I asked about the tourbus which stops outside the hotel. The staff member looked down at his desk and he just brushed me off by saying "I dont know" with an unpleasant look on his face ! I asked another staff member about local restaurants and he also shrugged his shoulders without saying a word ! The breakfast area is split in two - I dont know why this was. On our first day there, I went into one room to get some bread. On the next day, a member of staff created a bit of a scene by speaking loudly that I should not be in the other breakfast area, even though others were. Embarassing. Ive stayed at many hotels around the world and Ive been treated with courtesy and the staff there were always keen to help. But the people running the Grand Palatino were absolutely useless.

Estoy deseando volver.

I was impressed by the friendly welcome that we got when we arrived. We were also given a very helpful map of Rome which we found invaluable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and able to give very good advice. Everyone in the hotel spoke English, but I think it is always a good idea to learn a little of the language of the country you are visiting. The situation of the hotel was fantastic - 5 minutes walk from the Colluseum, and the Roman forum, 10 minutes from Termini bus and Metro and railway station - a straight road - impossible to get lost. Just a couple of stops on the metro will take you to the Spanish steps, Fontana di Tervi, or the Vatican. there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, all with outside seating areas -perfect for a sunny evening in Rome. There are several great Gelateria in the same street - you must try Italian ice-cream! Rome is a beautiful city. A great place to visit. Lots of fantastic history. It is very easy to negotiate/ find your way about, and if you are lost, someone will always help. The Italians put us to shame, as almost everyone speaks at least a little English. Rome is a great city in a great country, warm and sunny, and the people are warm and sunny too!
