The surrounding area was great. The hotel was in deplorable condition. If you like authentic and by this I mean original condition from early 60's then you may have found your place other stay anywhere else at all cost.

We enjoyed the hotel's location, and it was very cute and clean inside. However they make you pay 18 dollars just to park, for just one night! Take that away and this hotel is great

The moment we stepped inside our room, we realized we paid way too much for it. It was small, no cable and channels that we did get were fuzzy, looked like it hadn't been updated in 30 years, and was on a busy street. The worst part is my husband and I actually got bed bug bites from this hotel. Not a pleasant experience.

This hotel serves the purpose of providing a decent room in a great location. The parking lot is very small so expect to find a meter. Make sure you park on the correct side of the street each evening. It changes nightly. Otherwise, you must pay $28 to park at a nearby hotel. Room was small but comfortable. Only problem was our phone did not work and the heater would not turn off. This made our room uncomfortably warm.

This is a cute hotel but it needs to pay attention to details such as cleanliness and maintenance. The tub needed caulking and I was tempted to do it myself. The floors should be cleaner, and one poster on the wall was faded beyond belief. You can't beat the price for the location, just know what you are getting into. The staff was friendly and helpful, but parking is at a premium. I never got to park in the lot.

We came to Santa Monica on business and we were not quite sure what to expect. The hotel is so cute and comfortable. We were able to walk right down to beach and pier. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room could have been cleaned a little bit better-but sheets and bed cleaned to expectations. We enjoyed nights just coming back to hotel and handing out in the outdoor patios. Would def. stay again!!!

The rate was too much for what we got. The room was dirty, the shower was a corner space that was hardly big enough for an average person. The shower head hit at your chest so you have to bend down to get your hair wet. The hotel is advertised to have AC, and when we asked if we could have it turned on, the receptionist told us to open the door and windows overnight, not exactly what I had in mind. With the windows open you heard everyone walking down the street and the traffic down ocean avenue...great!

I really enjoyed the view and the location. The room was comfertable and I really liked to decor. But the staff was bit rude and I didnt have any soap or wash cloth in my room. Nor a bathtub, bummer. But over all I was not dissatisfied

Can't beat the location and the hotel was very clean. It'll probably be the smallest room you stay in with this price, but other hotels in the area are either twice the price, or run down and sketchy. I would definately recommend it. Have a cocktail at Chez Jay accross the street. Looks a little shady from the outside, but the inside is what counts.

Excellent stop off, very laid back & amazing decor. My only gripe is that the bathroom was way too small, other than that all was perfect, especially the very helpful & friendly staff.

This is a cute little hotel, (motel, really) a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica pier. It has a psudo-Mexican style decor, mixed with old movie posters and quirky furnishings. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, with hardwood floors, an oversized rockingchair, a hand carved headboard, and a colorful Mexican style painted ceiling. Quite charming. Whwere the hotel falls short is in its amenities and maintenance. The only internet access is at a stand up terminal at the front desk. Although there was a 32" flat panel televisions in the room, the selection of channels was very limited, and on some the reception was very poor. Their biggest flaw, though, is in the maintenance of the bathroom fixtures. My bathroom had a porcelin vanity sink that was hanging very loosley from the wall. The shower had ancient knobs, and when turned, the entire knob and collar turned, because someone had forced a screw through the collar and into the shaft of the fixture - a very ugly and unprofessional job. Another issue I had was in trying to regulate the hot water. I enjoy a hot shower, but with the ancient fixtures, a slight turn from off produced scalding hot torrents. I had the cold maxed out and perhaps a 10 degree turn on the hot, and it was still too hot. Overall, the tiles are outdated, the floors could be replaced, etc. The entire bathroom needs an update - badly. Overall, it was a positive experience, but it was a very short stay, (2 nights) so I did not get a chance to interact with the staff very much.
