Macdonald Roxburghe Hotel - Edimburgo

I would not recommend as some staff were rude. Room serviced banged on the door before 0800hrs on a Saturday morning, waking us up. The hotel was dated and overpricedbut in very good location.

Great hotel with friendly staff, who are there to help. Central location makes it great for the pubs/clubs on George St and Rose St plus just off Princes St for the shops.

Very comfortable and excellent equipped room, luxurious accoutrements. Hotel facilities also superb, especially health club/spa. Breakfast (when not included) pricey, but several low cost and excellent alternatives just a few feet away on Rose St.

Location for shopping and sight-seeing is second to none. Staff excellent

I stayed in hotel with 10 other females, we were on a hen weekend, the location was great facility's excellent. All staff helpful and and very pleasant.

We had a nice quiet room. The reading lamps by the bed were horrible. Surely other people want to read in bed. The duvet is lovely, but was way too hot for us. A top sheet would be good to provide also. Everyone was very nice, and we loved the location. I don't know why European hotels do not provide wash cloths.

I went to this hotel in August right during festival time and it was double the price to what it normally is (fair enough so is everywhere else) but for it to maintain it's 4 star status it needs a makeover. There is nothing luxurious about it. It's just 'nice' and the staff are friendly. The location is perfect just a second away from Princes St. I would recommend it for the location alone.

hotel was in a central location, just off prince street. Heard none of the noise other travellers complained about. Only problem we had was the lift was broke and we were on the third floor which was quite a trek up the stairs. Also couldnt get a cold setting on the air conditioning in room. That being said I would stay here again

We took an executive double and had an amazing view of the castle from our window. Our room was spacious and had a big king bed. The room was clean and had a classy modern look to it. We only had one problem and that was the shower did not work properly. But we were given the choice of moving rooms or using another room's shower until they sent someone up to fix ours. But besides that, the people working at this hotel have to be the nicest people I've come across in a long time. From the concierge to the bar man, we received nothing but the utmost respect, generosity, and service.

The hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to all that Edinburgh has to offer, including the Castle, the National Gallery, Princes Street, the train station, restaurants and shops and is located across the street from Charlotte Square, a beautiful garden area. We found the hotel consierge staff to be most helpful in booking tours and finding just the right restaurants, however, we found the reception staff to be rather uninterested in providing information regarding our hotel accomodations and in particular how to access electricity in our room. Upon checking out, the staff member asked how we enjoyed the hotel, and turned away, uninterested in our response.

First off the location couldnt have been better . Walking distance to just about everything . The room was a lot more spacious than I had been expecting after staying in other European cities I was pleasanly surprsied at the size of the room which had a King sized bed and large bathroom . Also a nice feature was the electric kettle and all of the fixings so I could make tea in the morning . Overall very very pleased.

Fantastic location, nice hotel but certainly not 4 star more like 2.5 star, gym and spa where very good, bar was fine if lacking a bit of atmosphere, food outragously priced and reception staff the rudest and most unhelpful ive ever come across even basic requests like extra towels or keycards where treated with contempt, also give yourself extra time to check in and out( for some strange reason it takes about an hour) reception staff must have been sent on the Basil Faulty hotel managment course, if you can survive all this you have a fine location to stay and explore a beautiful city

A very central and comfortable hotel, very happy with most parts although the lack of parking was a problem. The pool area was ok but could do with a freshen up.

Great and friendly staff in a lovely hotel with the perfect location for visiting all tourist sites and of course the restaurants and bars not forgetting the shops Would love to go back to the roxburgh and would definately recommend it friends and family. thanks

The hotel was very clean and the hotel staff were very helpful. We arrived very early, but our room was ready and we were able to check in. The location is very central and ideal for exploring the city. However, our room overlooked St.George's Street, and although we had double glazing, it was quite noisy with revellers at night. The Spa consisted of a pool, steam room and sauna and a decent sized gym.

Nice hotel overall. The staff were plesant but not friendlly. The decor is old fasioned but quality. There are lots of parts in the building that are difficult if you are carrying bags or have any movement problems. The front door is up steps and a very small double door that is very heavy. From reception you then have to go though more heavy swing doors, through the cafe then through the bar to a small lift, then along tiny hall way that is very diificult to get along with a case, as a size 12 woman, my shoulders could touch both sides.

The Roxburghe is a luxury hotel by any standard, and the location is excellent. The hotel was undergoing renovation but it caused little inconvenience except that the dust in the work area set off the smoke alarms twice while we were there, driving us out and into the street. The food in the hotel was overpriced and scanty: we spent $80 on two cups of soup and a tiny circle of cheese covered polenta, which convinced us that our theory that the best food in Scotland was in the pubs after all. Porters and concierge service was excellent.

Ett trevligt hotell med hjälpsam personal. Gångavstånd till stan. Välskött och nästan lyxigt.

Dette hotellet var helt fantastisk. Service er utover det ordinær. Stabben er vennlig og behjelpelig med alt fra det minste til det største. Rommet var koselig, ren og komfortabel. I tillegg er hotellets beliggenhet sentralt som er en kjempe fordel. På min neste tur til Edinburgh, skal jeg definitivt booke rom der.

Rigtig godt hotel med god adgang til byens tilbud. Og meget let at finde fra lufthavnsbussen, der standser ganske tæt ved. Et minus er, at man kun kan få "den store morgenmad" til en for høj pris. Mulighed for et let morgenmåltid ville have været rimeligt. Meget søde og hjælpsomme i receptionen

Mycket bättre läge i Edinburgh än så här är svårt att få. Mycket centralt mitt bland restauranger och affärer och nära till sevärdigheterna. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Fint och lagom stort rum. Sängen var lite för hård för min smak men härlig kudde och täcke. Trevligt badrum.
