Maldron Hotel Cork - Cork

The staff are friendly and the breakfast was to die for. Initially impressed with the approach & the lobby but disappointed with used towels in room & the shower was broken so we had to use one in another room - which we were eventually moved into. Was recommended by family in Cork who had used downstairs facilities but not stayed, so the stay was marred by the problems we encountered with the room. Unfortunate experience, but the staff tried their best to rectify things.

this hotel was away from the hustle and bustle but close enough for us to walk into town. the only downside was that our room backed onto 3 churches where the bells rang 24/7 and the graveyard came to life after dark (with boozy noisy teenagers). I would stay there again because of the locality, but in a different room .

Only stayed a few days but plenty of staff to assist and an easy walk into the centre of Cork. Watch out for the breakfast vouchers--cheaper at reception but they forgot to offer these on our arrival.

Very nice hotel and room. There is about a 10 min walk to downtown Cork which wasnt bad. However walking back is pretty much all uphill for those who might have a problem with that. Great experience, i would definately stay there again on my next trip to the city.

After reading the reviews, I did not know what to except but we had a very nice room. Yes, the road was there but with the windows shut, it was good.

I have stayed here for 2 nights on a bank holiday weekend 09. the hotel is very central, minutes walk from town, restaurants and Cork landmarks if you are sightseeing. Rooms are big. There is also a swimming pool free of charge if you stay, but be aware that this is not only hotel costumers but half of Cork city. The smell of the pool spreads over rooms in floor 1 and 2, ask for a high floor. The stair case was a dumping area. Our toilet was dirty, not sure if this was a once off. in the mornings the smell of Clorides chemicals from the pool was very strong. Very noise at night,as for that price many families staying with plenty of children. Breakfast OK for price.

Just back from a stag wknd and while the hotel caters for all groups while there , it was perfect for a large group. The staff were as helpful as could be , never got to use the leisure facilities so can't comment on those . And breakfast wasn't included in room but could pay for a buffet breakfast seperately though for €12 or so which is only ok price wise. Overall would recommend this hotel for all the above but also for location which is a quick walk from patricks st.

Very good location in Cork city. About a 10 min stroll to the center. Parking is a problem though. The hotels 2 carparks are too small and tight and you will be lucky to find on street parking close by. Food was good but after finishing my meal I was disgusted to see fresh meals being wheeled out on a trolley which was filthy with old embedded food stains. makes you wonder what the kitchens are like. I didnt eat there again. Apart from that the hotel is average on everything else apart from price which worked out a bit expensive.

You can't beat the location but don't expect too much else from your stay here. My wife and I and 2 other couples spend a weekend in July 09 and were pretty satisfied considering the rate of around €60 a night. A very short walk to the center of town was the highlight. The gym was apparently decent. The pool was overrun with kids and the hot tub tiny. The Sauna bench was a bit broken which reflected the hotel really. Our bed had a mystery lump and our window wouldn't lock which was a concern as it opened to the ground level. One of the other couples had a window tha didn't open at all so I guess we balanced out. It's first in first served with the small car park but free so great if you get a space as we did. It was a room only rate so we never had the breakfast as there we tons of restaurants nearby that seemed much better. Overall you get what you pay for...a great location but don't expect too much more and you'll be happy enough.

I enjoyed the stay very much. I thought it was very close to the city centre which was good. The bar and lounge were lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly. The car parking wasn't great at all. In the bathroom, i would prefer little things like bars of soap, shampoo and face cloths but apart from that, i had no problem with the hotel. The higher floor bedrooms are better than the lower floors (eg 510-v.nice)

The hotel is excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a meal in the hotel on our last night. The food was lovely and it was resonable priced. The swimming pool etc was excellent and was free to use. The hotel is just down the road form the city. Only two bad points. The parking was very limited but the staff tried there hardest to accomadate us. It is a nightmare to find if driving. But people are so friendly that if you ask they will direct you. Excellent city with a lovely hotel.

The Maldron is very close to the main shopping streets,bars, restaurants and its across the road from the Cork Opera House. The hotel was very clean. Rooms were spacious. Good rates - Recommended!

Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms quiet. Hotel well kept. Very central to city centre. Good internet rate for rooms. Would definitley stay here again. Limited parking but plenty of parking on quiet street

Great value hotel in a good location with good facilities. Spacious and clean room. The only minor criticisms are that the room was very hot so we needed to keep the window open all weekend and it was only May! And the shower was not very powerful at all.

Maldron Hotel Cork is well positioned in the city centre. A good base to explore.

I fopund the hotel to be good quality, good sized rooms, the staff were polite and courteous. The health spa was clean, great for relaxation and not too busy. It is quite close to the centre of the city but the walk back is uphill for anyone who struggles with walking. Overall a very enjoyable weekend stay and a good location.

This was a good city hotel - convenient but a little hard to find first time around. Staff were pleasant. Had one problen though. Ordered a taxi when I checked in to take me to a morning appointment. Reminded desk before going to breakfast and was assured it had been ordered. Ten minutes after taxi should have been there I checked again and was told it had never been ordered. Thankfully one did come five minutes later an dI got to appointment on time.

Given the confusion with road repairs that was going on around Cork, we were lucky and came into the city on the correct side of the river and in the right direction to get to the hotel. After a sharp right turn and very fast left turn and quick right to the very small parking lot we were very lucky to get a parking space, there are less than 25 I would guess. If you are unable to get a parking space, there are directions at the desk to a parking garage that works with the hotel. The hotel was very nice. Our room was on the 3rd floor. We had a spacious room with comfortable beds. The room had a large window which overlooked part of the city. I would highly recommend dinner at the restaurant Stir. Our order included a melon appetizer, steak dinner, salmon dinner (fantastic), and the best dessert I have ever had it had honeycomb ice cream and wafers, can't remember the offical name but you must order it! It's also easy to leave the hotel if you are on your way to Blarney, you are only a block from the road you need to be on. Everyone at reception was very helpful with directions.

Hotel is located 5 mins walk from town centre. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has everything you would expect for a short stay. The staff are friendly and polite. The hotel bar is open until late and serves a wide range of bar food and snacks. The restaurant was also very good and offered a good range of cuisine to suit many different tastes. Nearby attractions include the Cork Butter Museum and the Church of Saint Anne Shandon, about 1 minute walk away. The hotel is served by bus on a direct route to and from the airport, providing a good value (~8EUR return) and convenient service. The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the city of Cork with great views from the 5th floor. The hill incline is not very steep but the narrow and winding walk may cause some travellers discomfort.

Upon arrival, the receptionist wasnt overly welcoming, i had requested a room with a view, which was in fact a view of an air handling unit. The room was grubby-the walls and radiator, while the woden counter top in the bathroom was peeling away, and very small-not all all what you would expect for a 3* hotel. There were bugs crawling on the window sills. It was very disappointing, having drove all the way from belfast only to have to move rooms upon arrival. the new room we were allocated was small also, and the bed uncomfortable. The gym equipment was old,and lesuire facilities appeared dirty also.Overall this hotel would need a good revamp and a review of the facilities they have to offer

I go to Cork on business for one week a month. I stay at the Maldron for convenience only. I have stayed there for 3/4 days per month for the last 2 years. I have found that the quality of service, customer care, etc. has deteriorated steadily over this period. While some of the staff are pleasant enough, I have experienced on several occasions a careless/offhand and even downright rude attitude from the staff and management -e.g. on one occasion I had paid for a package which included breakfast/full dinner, the hotel kitchen was being renovated and only continental breakfast and soup/sandwiches served for dinner - management would only allow me €10 of a deduction on my bill. The food served is adequate but nothing special. The rooms are clean and quality of shower, etc. is excellent. Bedlinen is clean but the towels supplied are small and coarse and at this stage I usually bring my own. I would not recommend this hotel for a city break.

Hotel was hard to find and not much parking is available on site (street parking requires a permit during the day). When we did finally arrive, we had trouble finding the front door, and as we walked in the back entrance there were some kids throwing around bags of the hotel linens in the car park. The box spring for the bed in our first room was broken, however the manager did quickly transfer us to another room which was just fine. Everything was very clean and we had a quite night sleep so overall an ok hotel as long as the price stays cheap.

The leisure centre was very good , Towels are provided we went for a swim every morning, sauna, steam room was clean, staff very friendly, take a swimming cap with you as it;s compulsory in Ireland, for everybody , that goes into the pool to wear, but you can use the steam/sauna room with out, take plenty of euro's as Ireland is very expensive,

This hotel is clean comfortable with friendly staff... have stayed here a few times on business.. and is definately good value for money.. with every room I have stayed in being comfortable, clean, and quiet.. even though the hotel is pretty much located in the city centre... only downside really is that not every room has wifi and if your driving you will need to get there early to get a parking space.. as these are very limited and there is also limited off street parking aswell... but perfect if you are on foot! also the bar was quite noisey the last time I stayed, so I choose to eat in town, so I have no idea what the food is like.

The hotel is very centrally located and convenient for getting to the centre of Cork. Staff were friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable. Although newly decorated and well tiled the bathroom (minus bath) was let down by the shower, which rather than a screen, had a curtain which did not reach the floor and was supplied with hard scratchy towels! Breakfast was not included in my booking and was not particularly good value. A potentially good hotel let down by poor attention to detail. Since I arrived late and left early I had no opportunity to check out the spa which is attached.

We as a company stayed there for the week, it was perfect center of cork 5mins walk to main street. Food was good the nights we stayed in, leisure center was used most nights to relax.

The hotel was very good for the price and very coveniently located. Apparently, owing to an accident, no toewls were delivered one day and it took a couple more days to recover completely.

The Maldron is readily accessible to central Cork and an airport bus drops you off directly at the hotel. Good standard of hotel and amenities and reception staff very helpful with hints as to where to go/how to get there.

The hotel had a great location, easy walk to town. The Maldron was clean and comfortable. I was a little frustrated that both of their internet computers were down and a tech was not expected until late the next day. That was just an annoyance not a reason to not consider the Maldron though.

The staff at the reception were very helpful, the room was very nice and very confortable with a big bed, a desk, a clothes cupboard, a table and 2 chairs ( we only booked a standard double room !) and a nice view of the roofs of Cork. Really close to city centre only 5-10 minutes walk. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel to go back to the airport. Overall really good hotel we'll defenitely go back !

from check in to departure this hote offered total enjoyment and luxury. staff were friendly, helpfull and efficient. Room was lovely and bathroom/wet-room was a real treat. Only caution was the very high central heating which made the bedroom very uncomfortable at times.

This hotel was great. Very friendly and VERY helpful staff. Perfectly situated near Cork City Centre. Leisure facilities were great. When we return to Cork we will definately book this hotel again.

This hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Cork City,it was well decorated and bright , the staff were lovely, the room was great, spotless clean,the bed was huge !! Only gripe was there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways !!

My Husbund & I stayed at the Maldron Hotel in Cork this January. It was ideally situated for a base to go out & explore Southern Ireland. First impressions were very good, but later we realised that the housekeeping had room for improvement, as we weren't given enough towels. (One between the two of us) This wasn't realised until we were in the shower... Our sheets weren't changed in the three days we stayed even though we had marks on the sheets & the waiting staff in the restaurant didn't have a clue what they were doing, we even received our bill without asking for it before we had received our desserts, let alone our coffees. Though I must compliment the chef as the food was lovely.

We had a great stay at this Hotel. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, location is brilliant for city centre. Would definitely recommend. The only minus was the fact that the car parking is very limited.

While I say 'tucked-away,' it is definitely in a good location and very well-kept. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this place for the traveler who appreciates an up-scale hotel.

i would tell any one to stay in this hotel.its fantastic.very friendly staff,food and drink were brilliant,and it was only a 2 minute walkl across the bridge to the city center.

Hotel was very comfortable, it was also very quiet, no loud doors which was ideal for someone wanting to rest. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. The only minus was the fact that the car parking is limited. Would definitely recommend and is close enough to city centre if you don't have a car.

room very cold. Despite complaining to management this problem was not fixed during the two days we were there. We stayed in Cork in November and heat was only on for a few hours at night, which was inadequate.

great room, very good location, very nice bar. rooms could have been cleaned better, floors not vacumned or cleaned all three days.

This hotel is only about a 10-minute walk from the city center, and is on several bus lines. Both the bus station and the train station are easily walkable, as are restaurants and pubs. The exterior of the hotel and the common spaces have clearly been redone and are very nice. The room we had, however, hadn't been refurbished and was dated. The carpet needed to be changed, and there was no view. But the room was adequate and clean, and there was free wireless internet. I would say that the front desk staff was less than helpful with basic questions, i.e. they didn't have a map of the city, didn't know anyplace to recommend for dinner (other than the hotel's own restaurant), and couldn't answer a couple of questions we had about the city. Also, this is the only hotel I stayed in during my Ireland trip (4 cities) that did not offer breakfast with the room rate. In short, nothing spectacular or outstanding, but a convenient location and a clean room.

Myself and three friends stayed here for one night. Rooms were large and staff were very helpful and friendly. Car park spaces limited. Bar was lively and food served there was excellent. Will be returning again.

The hotel is quiet as it is a bit away from the downtown area, and non-walkers want to be aware it is on a hill. The hotel itself - room, bar, health club - were all fine. I was a bit miffed as I chose the hotel specifically because it indicated it had free wifi, and it turned out one had to request it ahead of time. So, I spent the night of the U.S. election following election results in the lobby. Hmph.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay. The beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were very clean. Nice view form the 5th floor rooms of the city of Cork. Only thing I'd say is that they didn't always answer the phone at reception and friends of mine found it hard to get in touch with me. Great steam room and sauna. So close to everything!

The hotel was clean and well maintained. There wasn't enough parking. We had to park on the street. It was well located just about a 5 minute walk to the City Center of Cork. The staff was courteous.

We were very pleased with our choice of accomodation, the hotel was very clean and the swimming pool area was also very well looked after and towels are supplied. Breakfast was €12.50 and you could eat what you want - continental and full Irish breakfast. The location is also close to all the shops and bars so you do not need to get taxi's to the town centre. Overall we were very pleased with our stay here.
