Hotel Berlin, Berlin - Berlín

This was our first visit to Berlin. We chose Hotel Berlin because the room rates were very good for a 4.5 star hotel, it had good reviews and was in a very convenient location. Reception staff speak English and are helpful. A friendly bellboy takes your luggage up to your room for you. Our room was very spacious, comfortable, well-lit and clean, with tea/coffee-making facilities and a mini fridge. There is a supermarket just across the street. The bus-stop is also just around the corner and you can catch the hop-on hop-off sight-seeing buses from here too. Kurfürstendamm (Ku'damm), Berlin's popular shopping street, and the famous KaDeWe department store are within easy walking distance of the hotel. There is a limited room service menu and the hotel restaurant doesn't have many choices. However there are restaurants, cafes, bakeries and supermarkets that you can walk to. The Zoo and Tiergarten are within walking distance and well worth a visit.

The hotel lobby, bar, floor areas, outside bar area are lovely, extremely modern. The dining areas on the first morning were horrendous, tables piled up with the detritus of others breakfasts, food on the floor, loaded trays of dirty plates left on the food service area. It looked as though a bomb had hit it! We struggled to find four seats as the place was full of people at an exhibition. The cooked food in the servery was cold and having paid 21euros each we were more than upset. We didn't eat there again it was so offputting. Not enough staff evidently but having done a review in the hotel after breakfast and also the general review i am frankly annoyed not to have heard from them. I would stay there again, the hotel is lovely and it's so central for everything. The reception staff are very efficient and helpful.

I stayed in the Hotel Berlin, Berlin for 4 nights in September. The hotel was in an excellent location. The bus stop was round the corner & the nearest train station is just 3 minutes walk from the hotel. The room was lovely.. maybe is could do with a little more lighting to read. The breakfast was gorgeous. The seating area in the hotel was great and the staff were friendly, courteous & professional at all times. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone. The regular rooms that we booked where quite boring and dull, the interior felt that it was a relic of the 80's. With so many hotels coming up with great interior styles this was a bit of a blast from the past. Otherwise really nice, lot's of restaurants, perfectly located and good service.

Our stay at Hotel Berlin, Berlin was great. The room was furnished nicely with a modern bathroom. Front desk was helpfull with all questions we had. They all spoke english and were more then accommodating. The U-Bahn is a short 5 minute walk. The neighborhood is a bit run down but felt safe walking late at night. We did not include breakfast. The bar and lounge area was quite nice and relaxing. Secure building late at night - room key is needed to enter at late hours. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin.

b Berlin, Berlin is a very large business hotel (700+ rooms) that appears to cater to large higher end tour groups and business meetings. With the exception a swimming pool, the hotel offers all the amenities one would expect for such a large modern hotel. The standard rooms were HUGE not just by European standards, but by any standard. The classic double included two twin beds moved together to form a queen size space (typical practice in Germany) with new higher end linens, nights stands, separate sitting area with full sofa, coffee table, and sitting chairs, a desk and chair, small flat panel TV with BBC and CNN available, and FREE WiFi throughout the hotel (a rare and valuable amenity in large business class hotels). A very large closet with wide full length mirrored doors was opposite the ample size full bath. The front desk was staffed by friendly, always helpful professionals all of whom spoke flawless English (other language-speaking staff were also available) and adjacent to the front desk was a 24 hour "grab and go" snack cooler with tasty sandwiches, chicken wraps, and beverages available for purchase at a fair price 24 hours a day. The oversized lobbies included a bar which also offered food most of the day. A full restaurant serving food at three mealtimes is also available. (I only ate breakfast there once and will comment on that later, so I cannot evaluate the quality or value of other meals.) An impressive (for a hotel) modern gym was available 24x7 free of charge for guests in the lower level. Also in the lower level was an outoor/indoor relaxation lounge with its own tranquility waterfall, and two dry saunas which were operational from about 6 to 10PM and during other hours by request. Local phone calls were fairly priced at about 0.8 Euros. The location was perfect for me as I like to walk and be central to everything but not right in the middle of anything. Very nice modern hotel. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Location was very nice. About 15 minute walk to the center of the park.

We arrived at the hotel late Friday evening to find the hotel bar/lobby area was buzzing with lots of people. Check-in was quick and efficient. We had a standard room, which was of a good size, with plenty of space for luggage etc.. Comfy beds and cleaned each day to a v good standard. The only negative gripe I had was that there wasn't a shower cap, and the shampoo and conditioner was an all in one soap, shampoo and conditioner bottle. I'd expect these to be separates and of better quality in a 4 star hotel. The location was central to all our activities. If I was to come back to Berlin, I'd stay here again.

What a great hotel! This hotel has everything that I was looking for in hotel in Berlin. Clean, great staff rooms probably bigger than I was expecting, but thats not a complaint Location waqs perfect to see the sights, close enough to metro and just across the road from bus stops, walking distance to the zoo, for able people, taxi rank on the opposite side of road to hotel entrance. The only complaint would be the cost of breakfast, 19 euro's for a standard contintental breakfast was mind blowing. No problems though there are quite a few cafe's around and you can use the Holiday Inn's restaurant, just down the road. Would highly recommend this hotel to any vistors to Berlin, for what ever reason, business or pleasure.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The man who first helped us at front desk (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was so polite and funny! He made us feel so welcome from our first minute. The rooms are good, normal size with a nice big bed. The pillows are those square flat ones that some European hotels have and are a bit uncomfortable however I requested two extra pillows and they brought them straight up to our room and the problem was solved. They supplied us with a map and marked out all the main spots to see which was great. The service at the bar is fantastic and it is lovely to sit out in the courtyard in the sun enjoying a nice cold beer. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if we return to Berlin i will stay there again.

Stayed in this hotel for business reasons but included long leisure week-end also. Junior suite a little smaller than anticipated but comfortable and everything worked. A lot of renovation work being done while we visited so difficult to judge 'as normal'. Every effort made to minimise impact on guests and staff are particulalry friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast but expensive!

Hotel was very plush at the reception. Staff very pleasant and helpful, all spoke excellent English. You need the door card to operate the lift which is good. We stayed in the classic bedroom which is the most basic and it was beautiful, warm and modern with a big bath. The mattress and pillows were too soft but cant really complain. 15 mins walk to the Zoo and 20 mins to the Europa centre. Gorgeous place at Christmas

Great hotel in a greta location. Did a bus tour and knew I had picked well when it was mentioned on the tour as we went by! Friendly check in staff, lovely big room and really nice bathroom. Great TV channel choice. About 1 min from the bus stop or you can walk the 10 mins to the Zoo which was nice. Would stay here again if I went back to Berlin.

The hotel advertises Free Internet, and although they usually do offer it, the system was down for the whole period of my stay (3) days and there was no offer to do anything, no free breakfast, no nothing. I had to make a call that I would usually have done free on skype, and it cost me $100 on my cell. This was just unacceptable, and they just didn't care.

Huge room, everything in top condition, no unwelcome surprises. Can't fault it - the management is clearly on the ball.

Our stay was originally for 4 days, but a quick call to Hotels.com allowed for a 2-day extension at the same price per day. Hotel service was absolutely excellent! (We had a minor shower problem that was fixed within one hour.) The only "downside" was the absence of an iron and ironing board, but the big screen HDTV with about 500 channels from all over the world made up for that. The breakfast is expensive, 19 Euros, but there are many cheaper options within about a block or two. Only 2 blocks from a major U-Bahn station that has trains to everywhere. Most comparable hotels were twice the price.

All the members of staff encountered were friendly, efficient and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was very good and worth the cost.

What a wonderful hotel especially for the price! Everyone at the front desk and in the bar was friendly and helpful. I recomend this hotel for anyone who needs an exceptionally comfortable room for an excellent price.

It's very difficult to find a better value than the Hotel Berlin. Located between the Unter den Lindens park and the Kurfurstendamm shopping area, this hotel is conveniently located for the Museum Island and other sites in Berlin. The room was spacious, with a stellar bath and furniture to give the traveler a feeling of home. The staff were as courteous as anyone would want and English posed little problem for them (nor would they have a problem with other languages). Coming in on the U-bahn, I found that the physical address (17 Lutzowplatz) is not as helpful in locating the hotel, since standard directions note the nearest U-bahn is Nollendorfplatz, which is on the far side of the hotel from Lutzowplatz. However, this is just a word to awareness.

Absolutely incredible. Room was spacious, beautifully decorated, superbly clean, and had the most comfortable bed in which I've ever slept. The staff was amazingly kind, and the only issue was that the hotel was a bit pricey...but totally worth it!

What a shame about this place, hotel itself is fine but the service was awful! I pre-booked and paid for 1 double room for 3 nights for my wife and I but when we arrived were given a twin room. I spoke to the receptionist but was told there were no double rooms available. "Hang on" I said, "But I've booked one, if I'd been told at the time of booking I would have gone elsewhere". Anyway I asked to see the manager and after doing his best to avoid us he came out and told us the same. He then said he'd ask housekeeping to "make the 2 beds into 1". They just shoved them together but still with 2 separate duvets etc. I asked for 1 double duvet but was told there were none available. "In the entire hotel? But you have over 700 rooms, surely you must have 1 double duvet?" Apparently not. When the cleaner came she left dirty cups untouched and when I asked to borrow an iron I was abruptly told that guests were not allowed to borrow an iron, but could get housekeeping to do it, at an additional cost. The manager said he'd sort the room situation out for our 2nds or 3rd night but didn't. Great shame, they've done all the hard work, nice building, rooms done out nicely, location fine, easy access to public transport, just very unhelpful service. Won't be going there again

A good base for seeing Berlin. The Hotle is clean, tidy and comfortable. A little too expensive for breakfast and eating though 4 of us for breakfast was £75 euro's!

oustanding hotel. great location, huge rooms (Junior Suite). Clean, well appointed (If retro 70's is okay with you). Beds not the most comfortable, and sheets not the highest quality. But, overall a good property. Flat Screen HD TV; Super fast Broadband Internet. Maid service and front desk top rate. Now for the bad. Dining Room awful. food adequate (barely), but staff and service attrocious. an Hour for four plates of pasta for Lunch? Get real. Room Service brings a pot of instant coffee? 20 Euros for buffet breakfast? If you don't care about food and beveage service, this is a great property for your stay. but, if room service and the dining room are important to your stay, I suggest you look elsewhere until they get a new food and beverage director and clean house.

I have stayed in many such hotels on business - large, modern, big rooms, all mod cons but it sometimes felt a bit odd being there as a tourist (I felt scruffy at breakfast without a suit on). Thats not really a criticism - the place is pretty flawless - just that some may prefer something smaller with more character. The courtyard garden is great though. The museums are just a short walk from here, but the west side nightlife seems dominated by hotel bars and lounge type places. One of the bars in the square (Bar am Lutzowplatz) is hopeless for beer - ask for a Pils and you get Heineken, which isn't even German. Breakfast is pretty good but pricey - go to the bar in the Sony centre and you can get a buffet with proper cooked breakfast all morning for half the price.

The hotel had good facilities for the requirements of our long weekend break. It's position was good for sightseeing in whatever direction you chose for the day. Go out the front door cross the road opposite and to the road on the left and you'll find the bus stops, where we found any bus we needed including the sightseeing buses. Go out the back door and turn right and you'll get to the shops and the zoo within minutes. The bar is good. In the evenings it's quite a cool place. Our group had double & twin rooms were of a generous size. There was a safe & a not brilliantly stocked mini bar. Tea/coffee facility was a bit understocked, but they were OK about giving more when asked. The wardrobe was adequate for 2 for a weekend, but not enough for a longer stay. The bathroom facilites were spotless and had almost everything you needed incl a hairdryer by the mirror though the lighting was not good for make up application!! However, the usual expected supplies shower cap, shampoo etc were not in any of the rooms we occupied. Yes I would stay again, because of it's position & cleanliness. It was well equipped for the needs of our stay.

The hotel was excellant , within a stones thow of the main shopping centre. Close by there are loads of restaurants and pubs. The hotel was even on the hop on hop off sightseeing tour. Would definately stay there again when visiting Berlin.

Good service, friendly staff overall a great experience

Everything about this hotel is much better than we expected. One can easily pay twice as much for a hotel of this class. Very modern, clean, great service. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Berlin. It took about 10 euros of taxi fare to get there from the Hbh (main train station). The nearest subway station is only two blocks away. It has a restaurant. But no other restaurants nearby other than those close to the subway station.

This a business class 4* hotel. it has 2 restaurants and does very reasonable bar food. Service is excellent. The staff are very friendly and all speak english (some better than I do). It is located in the dead centre in Berlin with the main shopping area / zoo 10 mins walk one way and the historical/political areas 15 mins the other way. Within 4-5 mins walk of the hotel are numerous bars, restauants and entertainment. If you take a car, the hotel has its own on-site secure car park. The atmosphere in the bar is sophisticated but not cosy, although there are candles on the tables and loads of comfy sofas arround.

This is a perfect hotel, location and following the refer b. Excellent new rooms and great service.

About a 3 block walk from a metro station, near a gay neighborhood. No real attractions nearby. The blanket was too small! Bathrooms and room adequate. Nice closet design. Circular design of hotel makes accessing some rooms difficult. Friendly staff that speaks good English.

Unlike our other stay, this hotel is in no-man's land vis-a-vis interesting Berlin neighborhoods. And in high 80s temperature, that the air-conditioning didn't work in our wing and the staff advice "it's just been fixed and will take a half-hour to get cool" being inaccurate, conditions were not pleasant. (They moved us to another room the following day. The a/c on that side was fine, and the remaining three days were trouble-free, the staff quite helpful.)All in all, good value.

Decent rooms, but not spectacular, however this was expected as this was rated as a 3-star hotel. What I did not like about this hotel is that they did not have any adapters for the outlets. They also did not have an iron to iron clothes. I asked the front desk and they did not have an iron to lend to the room, however they did offer to iron it for me (I was somewhat uncomfortable with that). Many rooms in Europe come included with breakfast. We were told since we booked through this site, breakfast was not included. All very minor things, but things to consider if there are accomodations elsewhere for a litte more....all in all, I would stay here again.

Great hotel, very clean, nice staff, safe area...And you must try the fitness and the SPA in the hotel....Great location, close to the gay bars in West Berlin and within 10 min walking to the major shopping street (Kurfürstendamm street) and Ka De We mall, also close to the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche neo- Roman church.

Udmærket hotel - desværre belastet af lidt for megen trafik.

Enkelt å komme til og fra dette hotellet både med egen bil og med buss. Smakfult innredet.

Meget stort og meget stille hotel med udemærket central beliggenhed ca. 10 minutters gang fra Ku'dammen. Til trods for hotellets størrelse fremtoner det sig som et utrolig stille og moderne hotel. Dette hotel er helt klart et hotel jeg selv vil anvende igen hvis jeg skal til Berlin igen i en længere periode.

Ganske godt hotel, tæt på det meste i Berlin. Dog er Morgenmad lidt dyrt, 19 Euro, og flere steder tæt på hotellet får man det til mellem 7 og 10 Euro. Ellers perfekt.

Jag kommer aldrig att ta in på detta hotell eller rekommendera det då min make och jag näranog blåstes på 200 euro extra. Hotellet tar en depositionsavgift på 200 euro men drog 400 istället. Förvisso sattes pengarna tillbaka men det tog onödig tid samt klagomålen bemöttes av hotellpersonal med knapphändig kunskap i engelska vilket inte underlättar saken. Har läst fler kommentarer angående policyn med en i förväg inbetald depositionsavgift hur man tar betalt för tjänster som aldrig utnyttjas.

perfect service at reception, sauna, fitness, upgrade from classic to business

Det var ikke minibar på rommet. Vi ringte resepsjonen og spurte om dette, da vi savnet vann fordi vi hadde reist langt. De lovet å levere vann, noe de ikke gjorde. Air condition virket ikke. De lovet å rette på dette, men den virket fremdeles ikke. Det var varmt og dette var særdeles ubehagelig.
