Hotel Belleclaire - Nueva York

we stayed on the 5th floor of this old hotel and were amazed at how well kept and clean it was. The linen and towels were great quality and were fresh and bright white. The room was medium size and fit the two of us easily. We had a room with shared facilities (also very clean). For the price of the hotel, we found it to be excellent value for money. The metro is just a short walk away and you can walk to columbus circle (bottom of Central Park) in less than 15 minutes. Lot's of great supermarkets and gourmet food delis close by and an excellent burger / pizza place around the corner called 'Nick's Diner' - by far the best diner food in nyc. I would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to pay the extortionate 'down town' accomodation fees.

The hotel was very clean, the room was a little on the small side with no wardrobe, however there was a closet of some kind. We needed to have the air conditioning on most of the time as it eas very hot and stuffy. The staff at the desk were extremely helpful and very pleasant. The concierge was a good service also. The only really negative comment would be do not use the telephone in the room! We used it approx 5 times to call home (plus we bought 2 phone cards) and when we checked out it cost us $70 which is about £40. the hotel provides a good reference guide within the room but they do not tell you about telephone charges, why would they i suppose this is how they make money off you.

If you can find a deal on a room, it's a great place for the price. We had a King Suite. Don't know about the smaller rooms. Service is excellent and place is clean.

Very nice location and for this price exceptional value. The room was extremely clean and kitted out with all the ameneties one would expect at a good hotel. Even if I had more money to spend I would choose here again.

Clean,well design,fantastic location

I've stayed in many NYC hotels since I work in NYC and commute from North Carolina, but I had never stayed in this one before. I had chosen the budget "shared bath" option since I've done that in other hotels and it usually works out fine. But they upgraded me to a much nicer room with a full bath. It was a fantasic deal--the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is in the process of renovations which made the halls look pretty, but the halls were narrow. I could barely get my stroller down the Alice in Wonderland hallway that kept getting smaller and smaller. And with one of the two tiny elevators down, getting upstairs with luggage and baby was a royal pain. I would recommend this hotel to young singles or couples who don't care about that stuff. Also, we had a crazy room that was 2 small rooms each with a large bed. The smallest room would have been better of as a sitting room. You had to trip over the bed to get to the bathroom. And no room in the bathroom for stuff. The sink was so small with a glass shelf over it that you could not wash face without bumping head on shelf. And with light behind you, makeup application was difficult.

The hotel provides decent rooms with a good price in uptown manhattan near 79th Street (Line 1). The room is clean and throught professional service. Internet speed is a bit slow but overall great stay for a decent price

Had a great stay for 6 nights there, will be going back everytime. Recommended!

The Belleclaire has a great European feel. Most guest were from out of the country, makes for fun exchange in the lobby. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only set back to this Hotel is the street noise. Not the fault of the Hotel, so make sure to ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

This is a nice boutique hotel in a good neighborhood. Just a few blocks from the subway and plenty of restaurants and shopping close by. I have stayed at the Hotel many times and always have a nice room. The elevator is very slow so consider the stairs. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Great place to stay especially when visiting the Upper West Side and located away from the craziness of Midtown.

This hotel is in a great location. There is a wonderful 24 hour market around the corner and there's a refrigerator in the room. The subway is nearby. I've stayed here before and I enjoy the European atmosphere. Would like to stay here again!

The hotel is a short walk from central park and easy to find. The neighborhood is nice and the construction outside of the hotel makes no noise. I would recommend printing out a conformation as they did loose my reservation, but having the print out i received a "complimentary upgrade" and the rooms were gorgeous.

Room was very large for a NYC hotel. Room was very clean, except the restroom bathtub was a bit dirty. Staff was very polite and helpful. Overall, great experience and would stay there again.

Since this is a 3 star rated hotel, we weren't expecting much, and moreover as it's New York, we thought it'd be rather sub-par - however we were pleasantly surprised by the condition of the hotel, the quality of the room, and the service we received. We stayed for 3 nights from 27th July, and enjoyed every moment. The hotel is located 2 blocks from Central Park. All major tourist areas are only a short train ride away (subway). Overall, very satisfied with the hotel and staff. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed 3 nights with my daughter in a room with a shared bath (my fist ever stay in a room with shared bath and it was no problem). I was very impressed with the quality of the hotel and my room considering the low price I paid. Also I love the neighborhood - close to the park and good food and transporation. I will definately stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel at the start of our 3 week trip to the states. We have two children aged 6 and 7 so our priority is safety and security. For a hotel in New York this could not have been better. The hotel itself was clean, the service was great and the room size was sufficient for a family so long as you dont spend too much time in there. Even so it was much better than we expected for the price. The hotel is undergoing some renovation at the moment but in no way did this effect our stay. What made it for us was the neighbourhood. It felt like a safe and welcoming environment in a lovely residential area. We had no problems with going for a walk late in the evening with the children. The area itself has a really pleasant atmosphere yet there was no mistaking the fact that you were in the city that never sleeps. The hotel itself is only a 5 -10 min walk from Central Park (and the Natural History Museum)and there is a great childrens playground one block over heading to the park. My kids had great fun playing with the local children. The underground station is only two blocks up so you can access anywhere in the city in no time at all. Overall this is an excellent hotel if you have a young family and want to feel safe in a big city. I highly recommend it.

We stayed in the Deluxe King room and it was beautiful!!!! It was large & clean, we loved it !!!!

We arrived to NYC early in the morning and was not able to check in until 3pm. They checked our bags on the day we arrived and the day we left with no problems at all. The doorman also was great for flagging down a minivan taxi so that the 5 of us could go to our show in one cab versus having a 4 person limit in the other taxis. There was great customer service and friendly staff!

Clean, quiet, very comfortable, and so convenient for visiting NYC. Great price. and the staff are helpful. For the 3-room shared bathroom , it exceeded our expectation. You need not go through a long aisle to get to it. The lift is a little small and slow, but can be tolerant. Not easy to find the hotel name because of the renovation.

I was worried because it was my first time in new york. The lobby staff were extreemly helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and roomy. The staff dealt with requests imediatly. Location was within walking distance to broadway and central park. Lovely local bars and shops too. I will stay there again.

like others said, very convenient. staff helpful, rooms clean and large enough for our needs. yes, construction is still going on, but only during the day -- didn't interfere with our sleep. great hotel for the price.

Get out of crazy, packed mid-town and stay on the upper-west side, as long as you are willing to use the subway.

BelleClaire hotel was really a great stay for our family. They were very accommodating and gave us an exceptional deal on 2 nights stay for our family of 4. Highly recommended.

Good hotel located on the upper west side, hotel was currently under renovation, so a few dust sheets here and there but zero noise so that was good, room nice and clean, just a standard type of room but thats all you need for sleeping there, shared bathroom and hardly saw the other people, never had to wait. Room had fridge, TV, iPod dock/stereo, iron etc..

The room was very good, but with a noise air conditioner. Beds excellent. Renovations ongoing need to be finished to make this a truly comfortable hotel. For instance, only one small elevator working, which means lots of waiting or walking up the stairs. Staff very helpful. Good, safe neighborhood.A good basic hotel but no frills.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Belleclaire in March 2009 and were very pleased with our accomodations. Internet was a big plus, along with proximity to subway and various eateries. The room we stayed in was GIGANTIC. Larger than my own room at home. There was a sink in our room too. We had no problems sharing the bathroom. The fridge and iPod doc/player were great amenities. The first night we were concerned about the radiator and how to use it, but then again we are from the south so we are clueless about that sort of thing. There weren't very many outlets I recall and we had to drape an electrical cord over the radiator which caused us concern but the staff was helpful. The staff also held our bags for us after we checked out.

Nice staff, clean rooms, great location, good service. Bathroom lighting is a little dark and I wish there was a way to open the windows so that the air conditioner didn't have to be on all night.

The hotel was definitely worth it, we did have to share a bathroom but it was very clean. Rooms were comfy and clean, location was outstanding as was the staff. Parking was crazy to find unless you wanted to pay as much for parking a night as you did your hotel. I guess that is NY for you though.

Love this hotel in the heart of the Upper West Side. Accomodating staff, lovely, comfortable room....so long as the price stays moderate I will return again and again!!

This is a budget hotel for travelers who don't need a lot of luxury. I chose the bathroom-down-the-hall option which was a mistake as you have to bring all your toiletries and towels and stuff with you...there is a tiny sink in the room which was convenient. My room smelled like someone had been smoking in it, and when I complained the staff brought up an ionizer which worked pretty well. Room interior was stylish and spare. Hotel staff were quite nice. Elevators were slow (typical for old NYC buildings). But the best part is the vibrant Upper West Side neighborhood.

Rooms were bigger than expected with very modern decoration. Comfortable beds, nice big flat screen TVs, and quaint bathrooms. Two things to keep in mind - no central air so window units are used to cool the room in the summer. Stayed in the 4 person suite and only the side with the A/C unit felt the comfort. Second thing - there are two very small elevators so traveling up to the sixth floor took time. Recommend requesting a low floor and limit the amount of bags you bring- you might be taking the stairs to your room. Otherwise a great hotel near the subway and shopping. Would definitely stay again!

The Hotel Belleclaire is located at 77th and Broadway on the Upper West Side in a charming neighborhood full of interesting shops and people. It's a real neighborhood with New Yorkers, their families and their dogs. The Number 1 subway line is 2 blocks away and only 5 stops from Times Square. The crosstown bus to the American Museum of Natural History (actually within walking distance), Central Park, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is also 2 blocks away. The hotel is a beautiful older building that has been mostly renovated with attention to historic detail but also with comfortable furnishings. Beds are high quality and the plumbing works. There's a high-quality diner across Broadway, plus a great burger and pizza joint, a good Greek restaurant, and Zabar's all within walking distance. A good French restaurant (Nice Matin) and Filene's basement are also only a few blocks away. Rooms fronting on Broadway are noisy but have a great view. If you want quiet, ask for a room facing some other way.

This hotel is outstanding for the money paid. We had the 2 room suite and there was plenty room for us. The only real issue is the elevators - one of the two was out of service for the entire 3 night stay, they are quite small and very slow.

This hotel is located on an Upper West Side of New York City, a great, very safe, residential neighborhood. The outside of the hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay, but the work was not disturbing. I liked the room. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were changed every day. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
