Colombina Hotel - Venecia

Please do not upgrade to the canal view if you plan to stay here. The hotel was in a great location however when we checked in we got a room on the first level that looked like someone's 70's basement den. I'm typically easy to please. In fact I was very happy with all the other hotels my husband and I stayed at during our Italy vacation. However, we thought we'd splurge at this particular location to have the views that are shown on the site. It was on the first floor so we couldn't really open the windors because people could see into our room easily as they walked across the nearby bridge. Also, because we were close to the water and there were NO screen windows, when the cleaning people came they would open the windows and knats, mosquitos, etc would fly in and it would smell like dirty water. The towels were never dry and typically I try to be green and keep the old towels, but I placed them on the floor and the cleaning people placed them back. I could tell because they were still wet. That said, the location couldn't have been better, we were steps away from St. Marco square.

We just got back from Italy, and unfortunately, Venice was the biggest let down. We got a deluxe room so that we could get a canal view. Turns out that means you get a room at water level where you can't open the windows or you will have people looking into your room. It also means you can't open the windows because all the fruit flies from the water would come into our room. We had asked to switch our room and they tried to accomodate the 2nd day when someone checked out of their room. The only problem was the other room was so high up you didn't have a view of the canal at all. Also, we asked them to change our towels because the bathroom was so muggy and smelly (due to the canal). They took all the towels from the floor and rehung them so everything was still damp when we came back to freshen up. All in all, the hotel was in a great location but it wasn't worth what we spent. I believe we could have stayed somewhere just as central at a better price.

Everything was extremely clean. The service was accommodating to a degree that exceeded all other hotels I've visited in Europe. Location is excellent- a few short blocks away from San Marco. It's a little bit difficult to find, but so it goes in Venice.

Great hotel. nice rooms. Great location. Reasonable price for Venice. Do not take recommendations from hotel staff for tours or transportation. They are too deep into the pockets of the taxi's, Murano Glass makers, etc. Make your own arrangements for those items and stay at the hotel.

Good location, room was small and food was expensive. Excellent location for Rialto and Square

We had just been to a family wedding about 30 miles north of Venice and thought that we would finish the trip off by a quick visit to Venice. I chose this hotel completely at random and could not have made a better choice ! It was ideally located right in the heart of it all and could not fault it or its staff in anyway at all. We will DEFINATELY be returning there ASAP !!!!! Oh to top it all we were given a room with a roof top sun terrace with luxurious sun lounges to chill out after a busy night on the town !!

The hotel staff was great. Our first room was quite warm and they tried to fix the ac, but where unable to so they switched our room the next day. The second room was much better for ac, however that night we experienced a terrible sewer smell. Like I said earlier, the hotel staff was great and they tried there best, but I would not stay there again.

Nice place, friendly staff who are on hand to assist you. Central location to St Mark's Square. Got engaged here so I was happy that it was going to be a nice memory. Only bad point was that the cleaners tried it on with charging us for phantom mini-bar items which I think was a blatant little scam. However, the reception were only too pleased to sort it out.

This was a very nice hotel. Location was outstanding. Room that we were given was very nice and a good size for a European hotel. When I booked this hotel, I made sure that it had an elevator so that we would not have to carry our suitcases up steps but when we were taken to our room it was in a rear building that had a flight of steps up to our room. When I said I booked because they had an elevator, they told me that I was given the room that I had booked. I was a little upset, but I have to admit I had no other complaints. The breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed it. By far the best part is the location, very near St Mark's. I would recommend this hotel to anyone but if you cannot climb steps make sure that you verify this before booking.

wonderful hotel, charming, comfortable, room was nice and clean, bathroom needed heat, had a hard time finding the hotel, directions could have been better, would stay at location again.

Our room was fairly large for European hotels and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a good shower. The room smelled a little musty, and was a little difficult to access with luggage, as we needed to climb stairs. It was close to the main square and to the shopping.

Right on the water, this hotel was accessed by a bridge and a back alley from the "less traveled" side of the city. Our room overlooked the canal and we were wakened by a gondola with accordian singers the next morning. The staff was attentive, but I do caution that if you aren't adventurous in getting around Venice, they will tell the "expensive" way to travel through the city. Our bellman and the front desk both told us to use water taxis, as opposed to the public transportation vaporettas. The price difference is 90 euros vs. 6 euros. Venice is a great city and this hotel was very romantic. The breakfast the next morning was not what Americans typically enjoy, but was true to the Italian culture and the service was great (and included in the price of the room).

Great Location, staff was excellent, room was clean. Only problem was the room was to hot. You could not open windows due to mosquito's. Very uncomfortable to sleep at night. Suggestion put screens on windows, offer fans, this made my three night stay very uncomfortable.

I liked that you can reach the hotel directly throught the water taxi off the canal. We stayed in the annex. The bed was nice and firm. A great nights sleep. Nice and close to St. Marks Square.

The room was beautiful. staff was very nice and helpful. Definitly getting a good deal for your money. I would use this hotel again.

The location so very near to St. Marks square was wonderful. The service was the best I have ever had at any hotel anywhere. The rooms were a little dated and there were some spiders in the rooms but it was really a wonderful place that I would return to in a second.

My stay in Venice and at the Colombina surpassed my expectations. I was traveling alone on a short break on my way back to an overseas posting. The staff was very helpful, providing a recommendation of a nice restaurant which was willing to accept a single woman diner - on several occasions. The hotel is very close to San Marco, within easy access to the vaporetto, although it is located on a small alleyway. As a result, visitors unused to traveling overseas or those who lack Italian language skills might find initial arrival daunting, unless they spring for a costly private water taxi to take them directly to the hotel. Rooms are lovely, comfortable, quite spacious for the price. I look forward to my next visit.

L'hotel est superbement placé mais je m'attendais à plus pour un 4*, notamment la douche qui souffrait d'un manque de pression!

Hotellet ligger perfekt ift. Markus Pladsen og alt andet. Man går 3 min. fra pladsen og befinder sig ved en stille gade ud til en kanal. Hotellet er gammelt og holdt i en romantisk stil.

L'accueil chaleureux, répondent à questions (musées, îles...) avec sourire. Pr francophones ne parlant pas l'anglais, parlent le fr. L'hôtel bien situé,endroit calme,à 6min pl St Marc (1ere x, se munir du plan). L'hôtel divisé en 2 part: bloc principal et bloc 2nd. Pr celui-ci,traverser jolie cours int. Nous ds chambre éco/standard (611) ds bloc 2 douche...tout confort. Pas grande ms bien agencée ac 1 style vénitien (parfait pr séjours de 3-5 jrs). Possibilité entendre voisins (nous pas ce pb). ptit-déj (7h à 10h) copieux, ds notre cas (bloc 2, 1er ét), servis à 4 m de notre porte (si sommeil léger possibilité entendre machine café mais pas bcp chambre café à la demande du client donc marche pas tt le tps). L'hôtel adapté chaises roulantes (la ville bcp - = escaliers pr gravir pont !). Fréquentation hôtel = pers 35 et +, bcp curiosité (nous - de 30). Hôtel=services intéressants. Visite de l'île Murano (allée gratuit (bateau-taxi) visite galerie (attention achat oeuvre=cher).Accord ac hôtel,pas musée officiel Murano,après visite,rentrez par vos propres moyens (hôtel indique n° du vaporetto à prendre, et une carte), profitez pr visiter belle île). Proposent aussi couples promenades gondole. 120 euros,il peut être intéressant partager gondole ac 2ou3 autres couple pour diminuer vos coûts.

Idéal pour un week-end en amoureux. Accueil très pro et chaleureux, Chambre coquette et très propre comme les sanitaires (en marbre !). Déco dans le plus pur style vénitien et idéalement situé (à condition d'avoir des bottes en période d'acqua alta !). Petit déjeuner complet, inutile donc de prendre les suppléments affichés sur la carte. J'y retourne dès que possible !

Etter en lang reise var det godt å komme til ett flott hotell. Lite , gunstig plassert ift. sentrum av byen. Service innstilte og høffelig betjening med god frokost. Kaffen her var den beste vi fikk i Venezia. Rommet var smakfult innredet i en passe størrelse. ryddet vær gang vi kom tilbake etter vandringer i byen. Intrenettside med god forklaring om hotellets beliggenhet.

Jättebra hotell beläget mitt i smeten men ändå avsides. Vi fick ett jättefint rum och hade en fantastisk vistelse.

Service, Lage und Ausstattung gut, jedoch unser Zimmer in schlechter Lage - tote Vögel vor dem Fenster - winzige Hinterhöfe mit Wäscheleinen und direktem ca. 2 m Abstand zu angrenzenden Wohnungen.

Wir waren mehr als zufrieden. Hotel und Lage waren einfach Spitze.

Superbe hotel, en bordure d'un des canaux de Venise. On se penche a la fenetre a gauche, on voit le Pont des Soupirs. On se penche a droite, les gondoles vous attendent. On est a 200 m de la Place St Marc et du Palais des Doges, donc du coeur de Venise. Le quartier est tres touristique, beaucoup de restaurants, et de boutiques. Le Vaporetto est a 500 m de l'hotel, c'est ideal pour circuler rapide;ent dans Venise.

Bonne situation (à côté du pont des soupirs) et personnels très accueillants

Bien situé (à 200 m de la Place St Marc, nous avons été cependant moyennement emballé par la chambre. Plutôt petite, plafond bas (environ 2m) on y accède par un escalier très pentu. La chambre se trouve dans une annexe de l'hôtel et donne sur une cour. Eau à peine chaude et propreté de la douche n'est pas irréprochable.
