The Monrington is in a great location for siteseeing. Being in a semi residential area it was quiet at night (however the bin men did arrive at 7.30 sharp every morning) but only a few yards walks to very good, shops restaurants and bars. It is only about a 15 to 20 minute walk to Gamla Stam. Breakfast was included and quite good. The biggest drawback was the size of the rooms. Our room was classed a "superior room" but was very small - not unusual in a large city. As I told friends who were joining us "dont bring the cat - there's no room to swing it".

This hotel is delightful and the library in the lobby makes a traveler feel especially welcome. Maybe a few more books in English would be nice-maybe English translations of a few of the Swedish books but the Swedish books are wonderful. The one computer in the lobby was often in use and not quick. I don't travel internationally with a laptop so I was happy to have this computer but would have preferred a newer, faster one where I could also sit.

Came to Stockholm with the intention of having a relaxing few days break, and the hotel helped achieve that aim. Handily located for the sights (and good pubs), but very quiet allowing a good night's sleep. Extensive breakfast sets you up for the day. The room was fairly small, but large enough. The only minor gripe was the bathroom, bath with no plug, dripping tap, and lack of power to the shaver point .

The included breakfast buffet was great, and we were able to hold off on food until dinner, saving us some money. It's in a really beautiful part of the city; close to both the Old Town (Gamla Stan) and the downtown area. Also very close to the water, where a lot of the boat tours leave from. It was a bit of a walk from the Central Station, but other than that, the location cannot be beat. Also managed to get an excellent rate, making it really affordable to stay at this very nice/comfortable hotel. Room was quite spacious. If/when I go back to Stockholm, I'll be staying at this place again!

I have been traveling around Scandinavia for a couple of weeks now and this is my favorite hotel so far! The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Also, they offer a fabulous breakfast, more options than any other hotel I've stayed at in this area. I took a train to the area though and it wasn't all that easy to get to the hotel. However, it is close to everything else.

We stayed in Stockholm last week end (really unlucky with the weather). The hotel is ok, the hall is really nice and our room was pretty nice (the bathroom is small but you can do it!!)...You can have a great choice for breakfast but for Italian people like us cakes and pastries are almost missed at all :-( The location of the hotel is perfect and also the area is lovely (actually one of the best for the nightlife)...Overall I reccomend it, even if I could see another room on the 4th floor (we stayen on the 1st one, maybe the 'new' part of the hotel) and it wasn't very comfortable....Enjoy :-)

We had a communications glitch & I didn't reserve early, only 1 week before the trip. While early other hotels were about One Thirty Five/ night, the low end 1 week before included the Mornington (closer to two hundred/ night). WOW, scandinavia is expensive! That said, great hotel. On Eastern (nice) side of the city. 2 blocks from Tbana station. Quiet most day & night. Free Wi-fi in room & 1 terminal in lobbby. Great Breakfast & they opened early day of our (early) flight. Staff spoke english fluently & were most outreaching & helpful.

We were very impressed with the value of the hotel, given that it was very central. We were able to walk to the neighbouring islands, even to the bus/coach station on our way back. We booked as a twin room - the only option available at the time, but arrived to find we were in a queen-bedded room instead. The room was very comfortable and well-furnished. Breakfast was very comprehensive - too much to work through if you want to try everything though! Bar is a bit pricey, even for Sweden - best to look for one of the nearby bars instead.

When we arrived at the Hotel it was quite late and most restaurants were closed. We ordered club sandwiches from Room service. The arrived quickly and were delicious. The hotel is very central and is a great starting point for city walks. The staff are friendly and the hotel bar is a great place for a few drinks at the end of the night. For dinner we tried an Italian restaurant restaurant nearby - it's called Capri. The food was a bit tasteless and they make you check your coat and make you pay for it. The service is very bad. Avoid this place. The breakfast buffet in the hotel is fantastic and has all things you could want (including waffles). Between 9 and 10 it gets very busy though and you will have to queue for about 20 mins. Get there after 10 and you should be fine

The only downside was the inconspicuous facade, so I kept walking right by it every time... the staff was extremely helpful with all kinds of oddball requests, the hotel's restaurant was nice, and the location is very convenient. The metro stop is about five minutes away, the bridge to Jurgarden, the Parliament and the Royal Palace, and the main train station were all within a brisk half an hour walk. Very nice room with queen-size bed and excellent tea-making equipment.

Our trip ended with a wonderful stay at the Mornington Hotel. It is conveniently located with a beautiful and very pleasant 10 minunte walk to Old Town, or you can walk 2 blocks and catch the subway to anywhere in the city (if you are in town for 3 or more days as was suggested by the staff, buy the 72 hour subway pass. It is WELL worth the money.) We were greeted by friendly and gracious staff who spoke fluent English. They assisted in planning our tourist activities, offered local dining suggestions, and helped arrange our taxi to the airport at 4 a.m. on the morning we departed. The room was bigger than expected and very clean. The included breakfast was ample and was the perfect way to start the day. If and when I ever go back to Stockholm, I will absolutely stay here again!

We were very pleased with our hotel experience at the Mornington in Stockholm. The breakfast food provided in the morning was excellent in terms of both food QUALITY and VARIETY. Hotel staff was very courteous and accommodating. They were most helpful in making local phone calls as I am not knowledgeable in using the Swedish phone system. They would try and open the automatic security door needed to access the elevators to be helpful. There was one free Internet terminal in the lobby so patrons could check email. Hotel decor was most pleasant.

Excellent hotel for the money. Rooms are small and the bathroom's a little primitive, but considering how cheap it was, especially for scandinavia, it was an excellent value. On the down side, the hotel seems way understaffed, and the reception personnel are often away from the desk because they are taking care of emergencies in the facility. They should definitely hire a couple more people.

This hotel has great style... with its book shelf-lined lobby and bar/restaurant area. I was told it has been taken private (no longer part of the Great Western hotel chain) and that the books come from the new owner's personal collection. The staff was very pleasant to deal with... happy to offer tips on where to shop and how to get around town. There are two improvements I would recommend. I only gave my room a comfort rating of 4 because (a) I could not set the room ventilation system to "fan" (the only control was a thermostat on the wall). So, in order to have the air moving to eliminate the stuffy feeling one can sometimes feel in a room where the windows don't open, I had to turn the temperature setting down low. By the way, I was told that rooms on the upper floors have ceiling fans, I guess because they get hotter in the summer. And (b) the hair dryer only had one heat/speed setting. Otherwise, the style of the room was great... and the mattress was nice and firm. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Stockholm for the additional reason that the location is really ideal.
