Villa Toscane Swiss Q Hotel - Montreux

We stayed in the Villa Toscane part of the hotel (never saw anything that said Swiss Q on it). It's an old hotel, which is part of a string of newer hotels. The newer hotels give you access to many conveniences- pool, health club, restaurants- but the hotel itself is old. We were in a basement room that was not air conditioned and did not have very many amenities. I think there were nice rooms in the older part but we weren't in that room. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the train station- worth a cab or a bus if you have luggage. The newer hotel across the street has a lovely lakeside restaurant, which is definitely worth it. (note: check-in is at the newer hotel across the street)

Standard rooms are too small for 2 people and luggage. No closet to speak of. Back side of hotel has noise from trains. Location is it's best feature. Get an upgraded room in front on an upper floor. Price is good in comparison to other properties in the area. FIne for one night.

We booked a trip to Switzerland and Austria with eight different hotels. Everyone of the hotels we stayed was excellent except this one. With the price we paid this was a horrible experience. We certainly disagree with the rating with this hotel on the website. Here are the several issues we experienced: - The rooms were very old and small. When we first walked into our room, there was a smell. So we contacted the front desk to ask for a change of room. We were told that our room was upgraded to a Superior room and there was no more availaiblity. We were given a choice to check out a room with two twim beds. It was so small we could barely make a turn between two persons. We had no choice but stayed in the first given room. - There was no cental air conditioning in this hotel. Each room was given a portable unit which made a lot of noises. - We were assigned a parking space in front of the hotel and were given a parking permit. When we came back at night after dinner, the space was taken by another car without a permit. We went to the front desk and they told us that there was nothing they could do with the car parked over there. After several minutes with absolutly no help from the front desk, the manager finally told us to park the car across the street at their sister hotel. It was helpless. - Like all other seven paid in advance reservations we made for this trip, all the expense was included except the parking. When we checked out the hotel, we were told that we had to pay tax. According to the hotel the Tax Recovery Charge and Service Fees was not for tax purpose. After we added up the tax we paid for this stay, we could have stayed in a different hotel.

Its managed by the four-star Royal Plaza hotel across the road so the check-in, service request, access to amenities, etc are all top notch. Villa Toscane is a nice old building in good condition and the rooms are clean and well maintained. However, the building is hampered by its age as there is no air-conditioning. Whilst I'd read similar previous reviews I thought I could cope, especially given we were going in early April and the weather was very mild. I was wrong! About midnight the room became way too hot and stuffy and even with the window open there was insufficient air flow. Our room faced onto the main road, so with the window open the constant loud traffic noise made it difficult to sleep properly. Hotel staff did their best to try to find a new room, but with a full hotel there wasn't much better they could offer. In the end they provided a fan which helped some. Unfortunately this still meant it was the worst night's sleep I've had in a hotel for many years.

Villa Toscane is a clean, comfortable hotel - fine for one night in Montreux. We didn't mind having to check in across the road at the Royal Plaza, and you do have access to the spa/swimming pool etc at the Royal Plaza. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of the train station and the main street with shops/restaurants etc and a short tram ride from Chillon.

Great hotel, staff was great, food was great, location also was great, nothing could have been better.

We stayed at this hotel for two night during the Montreux Jazz Festival. Hotels.com says the breakfast is included which is completely false. Continental breakfast is 14 SF or the full breakfast is 29 SF. The location might be good but consider that there is outdoor music across the street at the festival which lasts until anywhere from 12:30 to 3:00 am. It could be heard from our room and the hotels only suggestion was to use ear plugs. It is very true that you feel like a second class citizen to the sister hotel across the street and there is no concierge in this hotel. For assistance you must walk across the street.

I was rather knocked back when I first arrived, (Parked in the road about 50m away for free too)! Check in is over the road at the modern Plaza Hotel. So the bar is in the Plaza, overlooking Lac Leman. Breakfast is taken in the bar, or if you want full, downstairs in the Restaurant. A short walk up the hill, past the Music Venue and you are into the real elegant area of Montreuax. Enjoy! I will definitely be going back.

Good location, clean and large rooms, quiet but the weird and at times annoying thing is there is no service (eg check in etc) - it is at the hotel across the road. Great hotel for a weekend away... It won't blow your mind but it is great value for money.

Villa Toscane is across the street from a 5-star hotel where you have to check in, get your safe-deposit box key, park your car, etc. It's as though you're left to be camping without support, but in a 4-star villa. Very annoying, and CLEAR that Villa Toscane clients were second priority.

Across the street from the sister hotel which is really nice and you have full access to it. If you want a view of the lake you will have to stay there though and it is twice as much money.

We stayed in large room split up into two sections divided by a thin wooden door. On the last night at 1am some very noisy person came into the room banging around and shouting through his mobile. Worse still he smoked and the fumes came under the door and filled our room with smoke. The management said no other rooms were available and there is nothing they could do.

The staff was very polite and helpful. All were able to speak and understand English, which made communication easier for us. The room was cozy and very clean. The bathroom was pretty small.

Vi följde med vår son som studerar i Montreux och vi tänkte stanna några dagar. Vi sökte efter "biliiga" hotell helst i centum och hittade då Hotell Toscane. Det verkade vara prisvärt och vi hade inga större krav på boendet, egentligen bara tak över huvudet 3-4 nätter. När vi öppnade dörren till rummet, blev vi positivt överaskade. Rummet var rejält stort med ett fint badrum med både badkar och dusch och en terass ut mot gatan. Vi upplvde inte trafiken särsklit störande. 10-15 minuters gångavstånd till centrumkärnan längs den härliga strandpromenaden. Det fanns ingen egentlig service på hotellet, utan detta fanns i ett stort hotell på andra sidan gatan. För oss var det inga problem. Hotellet var rent och fräscht, bra läge....och vi kan mycket väl tänka oss att bo där igen

Veldig trivelig og komfortabelt hotell. Og en veldig god samarbeidsavtale med femstjernershotellet over veien gjorde oppholdet meget bra.

Villa Toscane er svært sentralt, kun noen minutters gange fra sentrum og festivalområdet under jazzfestivalen. Det skiller seg ut som det klart mest prisoverkommelige hotellet så sentralt, standard og service er helt fin i forhold til prisen.

Fehlender Service im Haus war störend. Andererseits geräumiges und komfortables Zimmer. Gutes und reichhaltiges Frühstücksbüfett im Haupthaus.

Alt und ungemütlich

Mon évaluation est limitée vu que je suis venue uniquement dormir de 05.00h à 10.00h. Courte nuit mais j'ai bien dormi.

Leider etwas unruhige Lage an der Strasse, kaum Aussicht auf den Genfersee.

Vom Bahnhof 10 Minuten. Zum Auditorium Stravinski wenige Schritte. Sauber. Zimmer etwas klein. Gratis Internet im Foyer.

The check in for Villa Toscane is done at the Hotel Royal Plaza over the road. This was not written anywhere obvious. The hotel is old, the furniture chipped and like something from a garage sale with years of ingrained use. The bathroom is just wide enough for the shower cabinet and not for claustrophobics. The ill fitting toilet seat slips to side when you sit down. The cupboard for clothes is filled with sofa cushions and when you remove them, it is just wide enough for two jackets and two shirts. The beds were a little too soft for my liking. However, on a positive note, it was clean and is a perfectly located for the Jazz festival, but also far too expensive for the same reason. The breakfast buffet was very very good. Our room was right on the street, but surprisingly quiet.

Ein excellentes Preis/Leistungsverhaeltnis. Die Villa gibt die Geborgenheit die ihrem Alter entspricht und ist stilvoll und gepflegt. Es lohnt sich, die Treppen zu steigen um das wunderbare Tiffanyfenster zu bewundern. Das Einzelzimmer superieur, nach hinten gehend, hatte einen kleinen Wohnraum mit Sofa, ein kleines ruhiges Schlafzimmer und eine Riesenterrasse mit Blick auf den See. Die Einrichtung ist nicht von grossem Stil jedoch zweckmaessig und gepflegt . Ich habe mich sehr wohlgefuehlt. Die Rezeption war nicht besetzt und man musste im gegenueberliegenden Crown Plaza ein- und auschecken, was mich persoenlich aber nicht stoerte.

Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gut. Zimmer ein bisschen klein aber gemütlich

Kleines, älteres, aber charmantes Hotel mit familiärer Ambiance. Eingeschränkte Parkmöglichkeiten. Der Service ist angemessen. WLAN vorhanden.
