Comentado por F, deGLASGOW, el sep 15, 2009
We arrived early & were able to check in before 2pm which was great. Twin rooms are rather small & the beds were pushed right up against each other. The room also got stuffy during the night due to not being able to open the window along with the heat from the mini bar. There was a fan but it was too noisy. Rooms were clean & hotel bar is very plush with a nice drinks & food menu. Great location & lovely views of the city. All in all, a pleasant place to stay.

The location was excellent and at a quick glance the room was OK, but on closer inspection there were a few tatty and broken fittings. the air conditioning was not working and the fan provided simply moved the warm air around. Most of the staff were very helpful and pleasant with the exception of one of the reception staff who when we complained of an overcharge on our room (We were charged for parking even though we travelled by train),seemed to think that we were idiots and spoke to us as such.

Great location, very central..Staff very helpful, willing to cater to our needs,eg bringing ice buckets and cereal bowls to the room,at any hour!! Five min walk from princes st etc... Hotel restaurant bit pricey,as was the bar, except from the odd special offer eg 2 for 1 on cocktails...Defo would go back!!

We stayed for 3-nights and enjoyed every bit of our stay. Great location for shopping, the Edinburgh castle, museums, restaurants, and some interesting street entertainment. The rooms are clean and reasonably sized with the exception of the twin rooms where the beds were only 6-inches apart. No Parking. Not easy at all to get to from the train station, although it is quite close.

After several trips to Edinburgh, using dated B&B accommodation, I decided to try an Hotel whilst attending my son's graduation from Ed. University. This hotel was idealy situated, the staff were pleasant and willing to help, (with one exception), communication was difficult at times but not a problem. Housekeeping was not contactable, but the very helpful staff at the reception sorted this. Very sparing with the complimentary toiletries/ tea/ coffee/milk but clean and comfortable stay. Leisure facilities not used. Rating: 7/10

The hotel is located next to the Royal Mile and there is a lot of noise in the early am as people leave the bars. Their rowdiness can be heard throughout the hotel and awakens you in the middle of the night particularly on weekends. I complained to the hotel and they are aware of the issue and have complained to the police but to no avail. I would not recommed staying on the Royal Mile...get a little further away for better peace and comfort.

Overall this is a very nice hotel and we had a pleasant stay. Large clean room and is located perfectly for sightseeing. Unfortunately it took 30mins to order and receive a drink at the bar and we were woken early one morning even with a do not disturb sign on the door. But this comes down to individual staff error. All staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel was beautiful. The service was good, there was a restaurant and a bar which was nice. The hotel was a four star and we got a great deal. The location was perfect, close to absolutely everything. The only problem we had was the noise, it was on a main street and the windows were a bit old so we could hear everything all night. I would request a room on the other side next time. Everything else was fantastic!

The location was excellent, right off the Royal Mile not far from the castle and easy walking distance to Princes Street. The lobby and restaurant were nice and the service was good. My only issue was that the room could have been a little nicer. It was clean, nice bathroom but there was furniture in the room that was very shabby and worn. And the king bed was really two beds pushed together and not that comfortable. We certainly didn't go there to sit in the room so it wasn't that big of a deal to us but it could have been a little nicer. I would recommend this hotel to others.

The location of this hotel could not be better. It is everything a visitor to Edinburgh could want. I was lucky enough to get a room directly overlooking the Royal Mile, so now I don't think any trip to Edinburgh will ever match it! I had a great price - I could never have afforded it otherwise - I was very happy at the Barcelo Edinburgh Carlton Hotel.

With a reasonable deal, this is a great value hotel for its location and facilities. It is less than 100yards from the centre of the Royal Mile and 200yards from Princes Street. The hotel has good facilities (pool, fitness centre, room and housekeeping service) and the room we stayed in was spacious, great bathroom, excellent shower (important for us). Not new, but well-maintained and clean. Although facing Waverley Station (giving great views of Carlton Hill, the Scott Monument and Princess Street) there was no noise. The only disappointment was the appalling breakfast - little choice, chef either utterly disorganised or run off his feet, not capital city standard and with nothing, but nothing, to say you are in Scotland, home to excellent foods like kippers, haggis etc. It is also over-priced even at 'two for one'. So instead, walk to the Royal Mile, go a few yards up it and have a wonderful Scottish breakfast at one of the many bars, pubs, restaurants and other eateries that you'll find.

We booked a double room at this hotel for my partner's birthday. On arrival, nothing was said, but when we arrived at the room we had a twin room, not a double. On contacting reception we were told to bring all our luggage to reception. When we got there we were told that there were no double rooms left and we would just need to accept this and take our luggage all the way back up to the room. We were then told that we would have our bed changed by evening. What they actually done was shove the twin beds together and add a double duvet. In the morning we (all the hotel) had no hot water. On complaining again at reception I was shrugged off. I took this to the customer service dept and ended up with a free weekend. I held off with this review until now as I wanted to see the outcome of my complaint. On the whole this is a nice hotel and very centrally located with large rooms. The rooms could do with an update i.e. large room with small portable TV too far away to watch. No plug sockets except beside TV at far end of rooms. Breakfast is not worth £12.95 but they will deliver it to your room for £4/person bringing cost to £16.95 This aside, I give 4/5 for all sections as the hotel is a very nice place to stay when in Edinburgh

The Hotels.com price was amazing compared to any other rates in the area. This hotel is located a half a block off of the Royal Mile in the city center of Edinburgh. You cal walk to just about all of the main attractions in the city. Like most European hotels, there is no A/C in the room, and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. The room was more spacious than I expected and I had no issues at all during my stay.

My main requirement when staying in a hotel is to get a good night's sleep. This did not happen. I was awake half the night by a combination of water flowing through pipes and then from 5:00am onwards by traffic sounds. Hotel needs to invest in better windows. I'd expect a lot more from a 4 star hotel. Other than the the room and bathroom were very nice. Breakfast I thought was a little expensive at £12.50

Hotel was idealy located in central Edinburgh, on the border of the Old and New town, perfect for exploring the city for the first time. There are great and varied restaurants and bars nearby the hotel and the castle is situated around the corner. Cross the North bridge to the right of the hotel to reach the shops on Princes street and George Street - fantastic shopping areas! For walks, the Leith area of Edinburgh is close by, with the Palace of Holyrood, Scottish Parliment and King Arthurs Seat. Relax in the hotel spa, which has all the main facilities of a good spa. Clean hotel with very friendly and helpful service. Overall, a very enjoyable stay! I would definately recommend, and will be visiting again!

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of the Royal Mile. The room is slightly small by American standards but typical for Europe. The bed was really comfortable, the fixtures were all very new, and there was even a refridgerator for guest use in the room. My only complaint was that the room was a little too warm, but I like it very cool, so I might be biased. Also, on one day our room was not cleaned. However, we mentined it to the front desk, they were very apologetic, and had it taken care of immediatley. All in all, this is a very nice hotel in a great location. The location and beauty of this hotel are unmatched in Edinburgh. The rooms are very cleanly, good sized and the hotels contains nice amenities such as a LARGE gym, squash courts and although the pool and jacuzzi are wonderful in European standards, they're below American standards. Unfortunately what ruined the hotel for us was the awful customer service received from check in to check out. One of the desk staff, Barbara, was very unfriendly unfriendly when we checked in and wouldn't let you finish your question before interrupting you. Also, the concierge was missing most of the time so checking bags or getting them back was a nuisance. Worst of all is their outrageous rates to use the internet/business center.

We cannot complain at all about our stay at this hotel. Our room overlooked the Royal Mile and was extremely clean. We had arrived from the U.S. just before noon and the hotel did not have a room ready for us until after check-in time around 4:30PM. They held our baggage for us while we decided to go out and explore the Royal Mile and Castle. One drawback was the extreme heat. While we visited Edinburgh in May, it was a very warm day, and there was no air conditioning in the room (as in most European hotels) and the only relief we had was a breeze through the window that opened onto the noisy street below. The street quieted down in the evening and was not enough to keep us awake at night. Overall, a great stay!

This was our first time visiting Edinburgh and we were very fortunate to have chosen a nice hotel right in the middle of everything in the city. The lobby is beautiful and without being told, we had been upgraded to a big corner room with a lot of windows. The only downside is if you are a light sleeper--we could clearly hear people in the streets after the bars closed and we could hear the announcements for the Waverly Station that one side of our room looked over. It wasn't enough to cause any issues for us, though. The Royal Mile is just a few steps away...lots of good restaurants within walking distance as well as Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.

The irritations were only small, only 2 of the 5 lamps worked and they failed to fix them within the 4 nights we stayed. Also the Pool, Sauna etc was a bit dated and basic, but then if you are heading to Edinburgh just for the pool and sauna something's not quite right. Would reccomend.
