Having visited the area i chose the Belsfield Hotel for its superb views over Lake Windermere and I wasn't disappointed. The Hotel is wonderful, it had everything i needed for my 2 day stay and the view from the hotel is simply breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and polite and the room was spotless. The bathroom was very modern with shower and bath. I cannot comment on the food as i did not eat there, but overall i would go back to this hotel time and time again. Only slight reservation was a fusty smell but only to be expected in a hotel of its age and history but it would in no way deter me from visiting this hotel again. It was a pleasure to stay there.

The Belsfield is a lovely older hotel with lots of character and charm. The staff were very accomodating and went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. This hotel is NOT handicap friendly. It has multiple levels and stairs. The lift is old and small, barely enough room for a push chair, one adult and a toddler. The pool is lovely, although it it accessible by several sets of stairs. The best thing about the Belsfield is its view of Lake Windemere.

Ask for a room with a patio door, and you can sit outside in the beautiful garden.

sobre value="10""Hotel in terrible condition"
Comentado por Richard, deHouston, el may 16, 2009
This hotel was an extreme disappointment. The hotel was awful, one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The carpeting was coming up, the paint peeling, and the ceiling coming down. The shower flooded the entire bathroom. The bed was not comfortable. This is a beatiful old building and once might have been a nice hotel, but its condition has greatly deteriorated and it detracted significantly from our stay. I would strongly advise against staying here.

We arranged this stay following a period of illness. So this stay was important to us. From arrival to departure the staff were very pleasand and could not be more helpful. The setting for the hotel is great with exceptional views over the lake and the room and terrace we had was just ideal for the relaxing break we had planned. We will DEFINATELY use this hotel again. Thanks again to all of the staff for a great stay

sobre value="10""A bit tired"
Comentado por v, deNORTHUMBERLAND, el abr 7, 2009
The hotel is in a real great location and has fabulous viewshowever the hotel is really tired looking and in need of a refurbishment. The swimming pool resembled an upturned rusty greenhouse, so we did not use it and after a long bike ride I would have really loved to have, but it just looked grim and a bit 1970's. The rooms are large and clean and staff very helpfuL. Breakfast was good value for money and the staff were excellent. overall I would say it is reasonable value for your money, but if you want luxury go elsewhere. It is a reasonable 3 star hotel at best. Shame as potentially it could be amazing.

The clue was in the "... being refurbished..." sign on the way in. Had we known that (and some parts of it are in real need of it) during the booking process, then we would have booked elsewhere. The room was small and cramped, with a very tired shower room, and yet the hotel was almost empty so the offer of an alternative/nicer room would have been nice. Overall comment: Poor value!

sobre value="10""Too noisy"
Comentado por M, deLeeds, el ene 13, 2009
The hotel and the positioning was beautiful and the room was really big and had a great view. There were lots of noises and banging during the night which could not be identified which took away from the stay slightly. Beautiful area.

sobre value="10""Great location, lousy staff"
Comentado por D, deHartford, el oct 20, 2008
The hotel is perched on a hill overlooking Lake Windermere and is right beside the town. We arrived late and the restaurant was shut. The hotel staff (front desk and bar) made no effort to tell us there would be many places open in the town, even though we mentioned to the bartender we were ordering crisps from him because we missed dinner. The man at the front desk had a very snooty, condescending attitude, to boot. That said, the hotel was beautiful, breakfast was great and our room was comfy and clean. The breakfast staff was both very friendly and competent.

Gigantisch oud landhuis doet nu dienst als hotel. Krakende planken in de gangen, een lift uit de jaren 20 van de vorige eeuw en bloemenmotiefjes alom.
