Hudson, A Morgans Original - Nueva York

I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions. Rooms are stupidly small, even by NY standards. So, we always book the size up. When checking in we were told that we had requested a smoking room. My wife and I have never smoked, and have never requested a smoking room in any hotel we have stayed around the world. The reception basically would not believe us, told us to go away and they would have a non smoking room in one hour. When we returned, they told us they only had smoking afterall, and repeated that we had requested smoking anyway(??). They gave us a smoking room and said they would move us the next day to non smoking. When they moved us the next day, it was a non smoking room, but was the smallest room type, not the larger room we booked and paid for. We never have booked the small rooms as you have to step over each other to move. Complained again, were told the room was the same type(??) even though it was smaller. After much discussion we were finally moved to a room we had booked, a larger size non smoking type. Basically after many stays here, we come to the conclusion they are trying to be so cool that the customer is always wrong!! Coolness should not get in the way of good service.......... We checked out a day early, even though no refund........... Anyone staying here should book a larger room, or accept beforehand that you will be staying in a mouse hole.

Lovely hotel, funky decor (rooms are really small but well equiped), great beer garden, friendly staff. Only one complaint - the hotel concierge downright lied about how to get somewhere in an effort to try and sell us a tour. Different guy on duty the following morning and we got the correct answer. This coloured our opinion somewhat.

super hotel.size of rooms not great but well appointed.staff very attentiveand friendly.hotel in great location on south west tip of central park.hotel ambience is excellent great atmosphere as well.would definately use this hotel again when visiting new york

The Hudson is located in an excellent location. 1 minute walk to subway and Central Park. 5 minutes from Times Square etc. So if you want a trendy hotel in a good location this is a good choice. We were welcomed by Greg who was very friendly and gave us some helpful tips. However, the room was tiny (and we were upgraded to a Queen!). I mean really tiny. If you sit on the toilet your knees will touch the wall opposite. The rooms are also very dark so not good for putting make-up on in. The rooms are beautifully furnished but a little ill maintained (there is a funny smell too). The bar was very expensive it cost me $27 for 2 drinks. The security guards can be a bit over keen too - one wouldn't let me even into the elevator until I had showed my key card. The rest of the staff are really great and the hotel has a youthful feel to it. Could be amazing - just lacking one or two small touches.

I read a few reviews, both positive and negative, about this hotel prior to my stay, and I have to say that I really liked this hotel. It has a really energetic "vibe" that will definitely not suit everyone's taste, but the staff was friendly, helpful and engaging, and my room, although small (and I expected this), was very nice and comfortable. The beds are amazing and I slept like a baby (I'd read some reviews where people said that noise kept them awake...not the case in my experience). I had to FORCE myself to get out of bed in the morning. Overally, the space is really beautiful. My one complaint is that the common areas of the hotel are a bit dimly lit, but the overall atmosphere is wonderful. The Terrace bar is not to be missed (unless you're there in January, I guess!). It's a really beautiful oasis on the 15th floor overlooking Manhattan. The hotel is conveniently located--close to the south end of Central Park, and just steps from the Columbus Circle/59th St. subway stop. The area surrounding, particularly 9th Ave., offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars. Great experience!

Really good bang for your buck. Close to everything. Room was small and simple, but that was all we needed.

I knew the rooms were small, and there is very little space to hang clothes etc, but I was travelling on my own, so this was not a major problem for me. I love the ambience and the service from check-in to check-out was great. I had friends meet me in the hotel bars for drinks and the Hudson is a great place to socialise. The bed was very comfortable and the batroom quite 'cool'. The internet service was easy to set up and the TV had a good choice of chanels to view. OVerall I like the hotel very much, especially as a single traveller. I think the standard rooms are probably a bit too small for two people?

I love running and my wife loves shopping. Within minutes I was enjoying the wonderful feeling of running in Central Park. My wife was two minutes away from shopping in Columbus Circle. The ambient within the hotel was great and the people working their were very friendly.

We have just had a 8 day stay at the Hudson. Overall I would say thay I was very happy. The location is amazing, from Columbus Circle you can get anywhere and everywhere in the city. The Atmosphere in the hotel is amazing, not to everybodies taste, the lighting is best described as subdued ..... some would say too dark but We loved it. The room ....... well there is no escaping the fact that it is small ...... but it's just what you want if you are using it as a base to explore. If you intend to do anything other than sleep in your room, best go somewhere with more space. TV, shower and decor are all great. Only disappointment we had was that it needed a little more dusting and cleaning, that said, bed was made well every day and fresh towells when we needed them. We will definitely concider for our next trip to NYC

Basically, if you want to stay in a place that will offer you a hipster vibe and be in the heart of the city...and that's it..then this place will be great... unfortunately, I travel to New York for business and need a hotel with a bit of customer service..or at least willing to try. Here are a couple of bummer things that happened while I stayed there, for a week. 1. I'm pregnant and they took my room service order and then proceeded to loose my order close the kitchen. 2. In the morning, afternoon and night, on several occasions, there was NO ANSWER to the front desk, concierge, and Hotel Manager. 3. Bathtub was clogged and couldn't get a hold of anyone for hours to come and fix.

The Hudson is like stepping into another world. It is steeped in atmosphere & dimly lit. However, you trade this off against the room size. If you can afford it you should go for the largest sq footage you can. If you want to get into the bar on a weekend night unless you are a resident, you'll need to know the Pope .

The bed was pushed against the window air conditioner.... making the bed shake, and our heads freezing!! Luggage had to practically be left at the door since the room was the size of a nyc taxi cab. Pathetic considering the price and reviews of what was supposed to be a 'above average' hotel. I would have gotten more sleep curled up in a corner of the port authority bus terminal.

Although I got a nice rate, the room I got was tiny. The bathroom was a joke and the shelves where falling off the wall. You can also hear everything in the neighboring rooms.

Great location for the money. Close to everything.

Hotel was very funky and the staff were certainly efficient. The rooms were very compact and clean. It was ideal for a short weekend break but on our longer breaks we take more luggage and shop a lot more and this room really wasn't big enough for that ... no drawer space at all. Having said that we would go back again for a weekend as it is very centrally located, ideal for Central Park ... for those of you brave enough to go for a run in the July heat and humidity.

I have stayed at the at least 4 times, and cant tell how dissapointed i am to see how quickly this place appears to be going down hill.

I would recommend this for the location (right off central park) and because of awesome common spaces BUT a few things.... The room was so small that turning around is difficult. Same for the bathroom. I specifically requested a queen bed because my husband is over 6 feet. We ended up in a "queen" bed that was short (to fit the room) and his feet hung off the bed. The room smelled of a sour towel which I think came from the shower curtain. At 7:30 in the morning, they began vacuuming and construction work in the room above ours. Fortunately we were heading out. I need to give this feedback to the hotel. It has some great things going for it but it seems to be sliding. And not adjusting the prices accordingly.

The hotel is very modern and "hip" - Possibly too hip for me. All of the hallways are dark and dimly lit. My room was decorated completely white and silver and the bed was hard and very low to the floor. The other guests in the hotel in mu hallway were in and out all night. It was not comfortable at all - I barely slept.

The standard room (queen bed) was fine for one person and a small bag. For a couple with luggage, it will be a tight. The bathroom is so small that even as a petite woman I felt squeezed. If you need to draw the curtain or close the door it is uncomfortably small and confining. No tub, just a shower. On the plus side, the room is clean and the a/c excellent. A big negative: no free WiFi access. Come on, Morgans, even a $69 a night Comfort Inn gives you free WiFi. $10 a night is ridiculous in this day and age.

This hotel appears to be nice from the entrance and lobby, but sadly the hotel spent all its money to make the lobby and bar area look nice. Once you enter the hallway to your room, the level of comfort drops drastically. The hallways are very dark, with a dark gray paint (poorly done, I might add), and very poor lighting and ugly carpet. The rooms are very small and the bedding had stains on it. Some parts of the room were nice, like the hardwood floors and the flat-panel TV. But the bathroom barely had enough room to turn around. We requested a non-smoking room, but we believe we received a smoking room instead. The hallway reeked of cigarettes and the curtains in our room had clear signs of cigarette burns. This hotel apparently is rated 3 1/2 stars, which is very misleading. I won't be staying at this hotel again.

Situated just off Columbus Circle at the south-west corner of Central Park, the Hudson is a short walk from Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and an easy walk to the Broadway theatre district. With a subway station at Columbus Circle, the rest of Manhattan is very accessible as well. The hotel's public spaces are very stylish in a hip, modern way, and my room, although small, was very attractive, with interesting, unique details as well as plenty of places to put luggage out of sight as well as shelves in a cabinet for storing clothing and personal items that I unpacked. Soundproofing was good over-all. Staff that I interacted with were all pleasant about assisting me with the needs I presented.

No room to bend over or walk beside the bed.

It was good. Wall are paper thin though so I would not recommend this place for passionate couples

A/C was loud and kept us awakw at night. Concierge service was poorly informed about area.

This is the second time I have stayed here so that tells you something. But the rooms are small and they need more service staff at the front to quickly expedite the check in and out process. They play great music, have a nice aesthetic and the sky terrace is a great place to relax. I am left feeling that they are close to being worth the price but with a few more staff and not charging $5 for a bitters and soda, this place could be fantastic.

The room is tiny. The bathroom is microscopic. But the room was immaculate, crisp, clean decoration. A/C worked fabulously. Outstanding location near Columbus Circle. Unbelievable value. Would absolutely stay here again.

Ask for an outside room to insure quiet. Very hip.

The hotel was in a great location - right by Central Park and many great museums which is why we stayed there. It seemed the hotel was more about catering to hip club-goers than to their hotel guests. We had multiple problems with the hotel staff including servicing hip club-goers before us in line despite the fact that they had already acknowledged us as next in line. Room keys that never worked more than once so we had to go back down to the hotel desk everytime we tried to enter our room, and no explanation for why this kept happened. The concierge repeatedly made poor suggestions like going to restaurants that had been closed for months, museums that were closed on that day until we finally stopped asking. They couldn't seem to remember when we were staying until and repeatedly asked if we were checking out the day before their own documents listed us as leaving. I would recommend NOT leaving your bags with the bellhops, it takes a long time to get to your room and I always want to check in and change when I have traveled to a new hotel. The sky terrace is the bast part of this hotel and I would recommend getting there early for seats. Also they seems to close it randomly so it's not always open in the evening when it would be nicest. Despite the fact that they seem to have many fancy amenities it doesn't seem like they can get the basics of being a hotel down.

This was a great deal for a great place in new York City! Right by the Time Warner Shoppes, convenient subway stop...able to walk to Central Park! Nice staff, quite a few funky bars/restaurants in the hotel...loved not feeling like I was in cookie cutter hotel! ****We had a standard queen room...could have been bigger but good for our purposes!

My wife and I arrived on a Saturday night and so as we entered the Hotel it resembles a night club due to the fantastic bars and atmosphere inside! My wife and I are not party goers, but this was very classy! The rooms are noise proof, but rather small.. We knew this going in though! For some people this is a big surprise, so please understand that "The rooms are small" PERIOD! For my wife and I, this hotel was perfect! Also, it is located right at the Columbia Circle, which is a great area to hang out! Central Park is moments away and the subway is right there at your finger tips! The hotel employees were great and they even upgraded our room, which helped with the size difference! If your an older couple that enjoys the comfort of bigger rooms and lounging areas, this may not be for you! If your young and look forward to having a very clean and hip atmosphere then this is the best! Please try the 15th floor rooftop, its an awesome area to hang out and enjoy the cool breeze! Beware of purchasing drinks here though, a glass of wine will cost you $18 plus! Have a great stay!

Considering the location and the look of the hotel, we got a pretty good deal. Upon arrival, however, we realized that the room was way too small, too noisy, and very basic (we paid for a "superior" room, but it was far from superior). When we asked for a change, we were moved to a slightly larger and better room facing the interior courtyard, which made the room quiet during the day, but very loud at night (there's a bar in the hotel's interior courtyard) and until midnight. The hotel transforms into party central at night, so I wouldn't stay there if you don't consider that an asset. The facilities were great (business lounge, gym, restaurant), but Internet is not free (there is one computer on the 15th floor with free access, but it's rarely available). Another downside, there's usually a long line to speak to a receptionist. Overall, a good deal if you are in town to party and value location and atmosphere more than comfort.

This time we upgraded one level for a slight increase in price - it was worth the few extra bucks. We had a corner room with two windows and a great view of the Hudson River. And we could walk around the bed. We like this hotel because it is near a subway, near a Whole Foods, within walking distance of many activities, and reasonably priced. The outdoor deck on the fifteenth floor was spectacular during the day. We didn't go there during the evening when the bar was open, but the people who did seemed to be having a good time.

so if you just need a place to crash in a fantastic location-1 block from central park - this is it. Room is the size of a large shoe box, but that does not matter to everyone. Service was really spotty- they won't even pick up the main desk half the time - so if you needed pillows or blankets, etc- forget about it. Both checking in and out were long lines and slow with only 2 people on the desk. They have a club there on the weekends which is very cool and packed. So bottom line if you care more about hip than comfort and service -stay here.

stylish hotel that still has some cache after all these years in the city. got a great deal; rooms are tiny (especially the bathrooms!) but friendly staff. really wowed by the service at the hudson cafeteria, the hotel's in-house restaurant that also boasts a beautiful outdoor terrace. only drawback? some of the bellmen (door guys) were clueless and i had to hail my own cabs over and over - while they just stood there and watched. left a sour taste in my mouth.

Nice location, nice staff but overpriced and - in particular - rooms are just too small! First time I ever felt I spent the night in a shoebox. Bed was so small that my feet kept sticking out and hitting the chair by the desk. Toilet/bathroom was so small that it was virtually impossible for my height (6 feet/183 cm) to sit down on the loo. Once you managed to, you could not avoid hitting your head on the hairdryer when gettin up again. Definitely needed my sense of humour to get through this stay! :-)

The hotel is very cool, trendy, has a fun bar and a great restaurant. Now the not so cool stuff: The rooms are very tiny, but if you are using the room just to sleep, you will be OK. Room was a bit dusty, not too clean. Dirtiest remote control I have ever seen at a hotel, made me wonder of their cleaning procedures.

They gave me a key to a room that was occupied. Fortunately no one was there... sleeping or naked or doing god knows what! inexcusable in my mind

Our flight to JFK had been delayed, so we knew we'd be checking in late, so we called ahead to let them know. By the time we got in, they'd given our "standard queen" room away and put us in an incredibly small room with a full-size bed and a bathroom that hadn't been mopped (the previous guest's little curly hairs remained). Also, it was freezing when we walked in—the a/c seems to have been on full blast for hours. They reassigned us to a larger room the next day, although it wasn't too much nicer. They told us to leave our bags packed in the small room when we left for the day and that they'd move our bags to the new room by 3pm. When we got back by 6, our bags were not in our room. We had to call the front desk 3 times to get someone to deliver our bags. Also, every time we needed something from the front desk, we had to wait for at least 5 solid minutes to get any attention. It seemed understaffed. Despite all this, every time we interacted with someone, they were very friendly and courteous. This isn't enough to make me want to come back though.

Typed as a hipster hotel, it is old and dated and sadly, a bit run-down. The Hudson needs renovation and maintenance as it projects a glamorous image that no longer exists.
