I nearly changed my reservation to another hotel after reading reviews of the the Hilton Metropole. However, I'm glad to say that I found many of the gripes to be unfounded and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. My room was well-furnished, cleaned properly each day and there was a terrific choice at breakfast. The hotel was full on the Friday evening/Saturday morning so there was a small queue at breakfast but this was dealt with as quickly as possible. I cannot fault the staff - they were most polite and helpful at all times. I have no hesitation in recommending or staying at this hotel again.

Hotel is old but not up to par with comparable four stars in the area. Mattress was old and uncomfortable, room service was overpriced and cold and was very difficult to get right. Breakfast was your standard buffet for the masses. Staff were friendly but scarce. Service was cold and I would not reccommend it to anyone seeking superior accomadations .

Room small but very clean - good shower in bathroom. Overall decor could do with updating but lounges, dining rooms, corridors clean. Location excellent - very well appointed opposite (now demolished) West Pier - within easy walking distance of both Brighton and all its attractions and Hove - numerous good quality restaurants nearby - would especially recommend the Regency - right of hotel on seafront - for (local) fish and chips. High standard of breakfast. Good leisure facilities available though not availed of on this occasion. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Please ensure that you do check your room - if the Hilton Brighton can get away with giving you less than adequate and far less than you actually paid for they will. they push single beds together and expect you to be content, the bath as chipped, the shower was filthy, and crisps that were spilt on the floor in the hall on the Friday afternoon were still there on the Sunday morning!!! Oh and by the way please take into account that the parking is not free like their other hotels so don't expect it to be,nor is the car park secure!

Hotel was in a perfect location along the seafront, not close enough to the pier to be able to hear the zillion stag & hen groups in the clubs, but not far away to not feel like a part of it. The hotel room was a little worn out, but it was big and clean, it would be good if they had economical lighting in the hallways as the lights under the door lit our room up but hey! Room service was excellent, they even put a candle in a muffin for my birthday! Use 106 bar for drinks and relaxing...and people watching.

My friend and i spent one night in hilton Brighton, the first room we got was pretty bad , old and small, but clean, we dropped our luggages and went to pub, by the time we got back to our room again, we somehow managed to find a pigeon in our bedroom with poo all over the place, so we called the reception and asked for a new room. a while later, hilton gave us a new room with much bigger space, newer furniture and also with 1 litre bottle of still water for free, i guessed they upgraded our room. no matter what happened in the first room, we had a great night in our new room and i have to say that their customer service was brilliant. the breakfast buffet was very good, lots of hot food, fresh fruits, choices of breads, and they have someone who can cooke pancakes and waffles for you straight away.

The Metropol Hotel is an elegent old lady, opposite the seafront, within strolling diatance of the Lanes and the one remaining pier. The Metropol is now owned by Hilton, but sadly the room we had (a kingsize Deluxe Plus) was anything but deluxe. The bed was made of two different height single beds pushed together, and as for the deluxe... I couldn't find it. The room (319) faced out onto air-conditioning extraction fans, and the decor was (at best) on par with a travelodge. A spectacular waste of money. The hotel pool is small, and makes the whole ground floor smell of chlorine. Have a better time and stay at the Grand Hotel.

Bedroom: It was far too small for a family room. Impossible for 3 people to move around without 2 people sitting on a bed. All the furniture was different and looked like a mismatch of anything available from a charity shop. One of the curtains was falling off (have photo). A thick layer of dust on top of the wardrobe (have photo). Cobweb in the corner of the room (have photo). Window was extremely dirty (have photo) We had to ask for extra pillows, none provided There was no trouser press There was no case stand probably because one wouldn’t fit in the room. The room was dark because of the small window but there was no light on the writing desk. The single bed mattress was faulty with a ridge inside it. Very uncomfortable. The security chain on the main door didn’t work Bathroom: Mould growing in the seals to the bath (have photo). No toilet brush Shower pressure only just adequate to take a shower. After cleaning the head myself it was a little better. The lighting for the mirror was very poor and not good enough for my wife to put on make-up. I took the list to the reception desk within 2 hours of our arrival but heard nothing for the rest of our 2-day stay. It was a good job my son wasn’t with us who has asthma. I wouldn’t stay there again under these conditions.

We stayed at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton for one night over Easter weekend, and the location of the hotel is excellent. Right on the beach, great walking distance from the pier and town. The service was quite good, we were checked in promptly,. breakfast brought to our room on time, etc. and the pool, steam room and jacuzzi were all clean and comfortable to use. However, our room was not the greatest - the shower curtain was half-off the rail, the shower didn't appear to be cleaned thoroghly, and the bed was not comfortable. Also, the parking is quite expensive (£14/night) and I would have appreciated free or cheaper parking for guests. However overall you're not spending a great deal of time in your room anyways, so its a decent place to stay.

The hotel itself is very old and grand though i think it is starting to look a bit tired and dated in some areas. The spa facilities are definitley not 4 star, i've been in gyms with better facilities let alone a "spa hotel" but the service from all the staff was great.

The first room we were offered was very small with a 3/4 mattress on a double bed - this left the strange sight of 4"of woooden slats visible on both sides. The bathroom featured the usual British plumbing a shower which was only a trickle. The room had been renovated with a lick of paint over peeling wallpaper and newish cheap furniture, but the ancient carpet had been left. The room stank of cigarettes even though the hotel was theoretically smoke free. On complaining the very friendly and professional reception staff moved us to a better room. Overall impression - a shabby, run down hotel with very good staff.

We booked this hotel for its location In brighton for a girlie weekend. Our initial impression was good until we got to the rooms. The rooms were very small, one double bed pushed up against the wall and there really was no room to swing a cat. The net curtains had holes in and it was boiling hot. We complained but were told these were standard double rooms. We were told that the air conditioning was not working and to open a window. It was the worst nights sleep I have had in a long time, it was unbearably hot. I would never stay at this hotel again it ruined our weekend. The only plus side was a lovely breakfast in a beauiful room.

i arranged to take my wife away after being ill. the room we were given had no heating. the window in the bathroom did not close properly and it was freezing. the light in the lobby inside our room flashed constantly. we told reception about this when we went out. we had only been back a few minutes when the sockets decided not to work leaving us with no lamps, tv or kettle. they sent someone up who managed to switch all our lights off without warning.after another attempt the lights failed again and we were offered another room. it was 11.00pm . we tried to turn on the tv to set an alarm call to find that the tv was not working. again i was unable to contact reception via the telephone so went down again. my wife had gone in to use the toilet and had been unable to get out as the handle. this happened a further 4 times and my wife would not use the toilet unless i was in the room. The tv was fixed and exhausted we went to bed. In the morning we found the bath had a large chip on the bottom and 3 large cracks in the sink. we were only booked in for 2 days but it was far too many things to put up with. on departure I asked to speak to the manager. After telling him everything he offered £50.00 discount. for such a prestigous hotel i was disgusted at the problems we had come across and although the token discount was accepted will not be enough to ensure that i use the facilities again.

Room was nicely decorated, not too tacky. it got very very stuffy, and even more so during the night. Shower didnt work, it was constantly on scolding. Breakfast was impressive, again the service was perfect. signing out was a doddle, very quick and they let me use the car park until i needed to leave Brighton, and not on checking out time. Brighton Hilton Metropole service was brilliant, decor was slightly tacky seaside but modern-ish.

The service at this hotel was great they took are bags up to our room for us. The room was small by USA standard but not by the british, we had a double and a single bed. Both bed were against a wall which was good for my 5 yr old. Breakfast at the hotel was English buffet but they would cook eggs to your liking, it was about $30 for 2 and kids are free. The bath tub was very large typical English tub, the toliet would not flush completely but i think that is their way on conserving water. Also just remember to bring your own soap what they provide just does not seem like real soap. All in all I will stay there again, it was hilton standard of service very nice.

We were not at all impressed by the room we were given, tiny, hardly bigger than the double bed. The room was dark, damp on the walls and a stale smell made it worse. The bathroom was no bigger, you could almost sit in the bath and on the loo at the same time. We did phone reception and request a change and the second room was a better size with an extra large bed, at least no smell or damp. The following morning half the wall plugs including the tea and coffee tray did not work dispite having done so the night before. Altogether not a good stay, I would seriously think twice again about Hilton as i had expected better.

The hotel is excellent! Expectations were much less prior to my arrival due to the relatively very low price I paid for a room on a weekend! Location is perfect! Well too many hotels are in that area and share the good location, but glad Hilton is one of them! The service is very good. Did not really use it as I was out most the time..On the nearby beach during day, walk to city centre at night! Condition of hotel is good too. The doors of the room and toilet can be better. One of the lifts was on maintenance so we always had to queue for the other one. Was supposed to be checked and fixed prior to a busy weekend! Anyway such details are still acceptable as it is not a 5* hotel! The room is very clean and tidy with service provided every morning. The room is very good too. Comfortable apart from having one chair for my girlfriend and I to sit on while having the morning coffee! The massive plasma tv also makes mornings and late nights more enjoyable! Hotel facilities are excellent. Warm swimming pool with the relaxing jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath for everyone to use! Not to forget the sweet little gym! Overall the hotel is excellent, especially when compared to other similarly priced 2* and 3* hotels! Would Definitely want to go back, but try the King Deluxe this time!

A very pleasant hotel situation in the ideal location, with everything you could want just a short walk away. However despite this hotel being fairly week equipped - pool, sauna, gym etc, I did find the finishing touches a bit lacking overall. There were no bath robes in the room which would have been nice after choosing to spend the weekend to relax in a spa hotel, and the ?heated pool? I found far too cold to swim in - far from relaxing, to name some of the missing factors. I feel this hotel has a lot of potential but is very much lacking the little details which really make a good weekend away and although I enjoyed my weekend in Brighton and out of the pool, I would definitely not stay here again.

The Hilton was our only hotel during our B&B round trip through the south of England. Normally we can't afford to stay in a Hilton-type hotel, but we were so lucky as to get our room for half the normal price - which wasn't much higher than that of a good B&B. The hotel interior was everything you can expect of a Hilton hotel: plush carpeting, luxurious furniture and ofcourse lots of chandeliers. The room, however, was not the best one we had during our trip through England. There was no ventilation in the shower, and opening the high window can only be done someone tall or by using a chair. There was no curtain for the shower window and there was also a shower curtain missing. Also, the heating element had been taken off. There was a large tv, but not with Sky or a dvd player like we had in some other B&Bs. If we had wanted the film channel then we would have had to pay 10 pounds for it. Also, the parking cost 14 pounds per night. On the other hand, the people of the hotel were very kind and provided excellent service. The breakfast was lovely with lots of variety and the hotel had free amenities such as a gym, sauna and an indoor pool.
