Comentado por K, deLondon, el ago 27, 2009
The City West hotel is an excellent hotel set in beautiful countryside with excellent road links to Dublin and the rest of Ireland. It offers excellent value for money. The dining room where breakfast is beautifully furnished with excellent views over lawns. Breakfast is of a very high quality with plenty of choice. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the hotel is adorned with fine furnishings and pictures. There is a clearly displayed policy regarding no under 18s in the main bar after 9pm. However, the hotel would benefit from consistency in applying the policy. I was advised by the waitress that my daughter could not stay after 9pm. However, the bar area was full of much younger children, who did not appear to have been advised they could not stay there. The swimming pool is clean and a delight to swim in. No locks were available for the lockers for the first three days and valuables were at our risk! Our enjoyment of the pool was slightly impacted by an official ripping up a lane on the Thursday and telling me to go into the unlaned area. This was followed by a deafening aqua aerobics lesson. The pool receptioinist declined to put another lane in for the benefit of swimmers. Overall, the hotel and facilities were excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hotel itself is very nice food excellent , bedroom roomy and well decorated, beds fine however ensuite was below standard for quality of hotel and room, tiles dirty, taps rusty and old need of replacement, shower not working correctly. Had to queue for breakfast in morning, but was worth it. Overall satisfied but bathrooms could do with some refurbishments

If you don't mind enormous hotels, with miles of long corridors, this may be OK for you. The hotel is massive - it takes a long time to walk from the far away rooms to the main reception and is a bit of a maze of corridors. My first room was very poor, holes in the walls, over looking the rubbish bins, cobwebs on the ceiling, poor bathroom fittings. I asked to move and was put into a superior room which was much better and newly refurbished. If you use this hotel I would suggest you upgrade. Breakfast buffet - average. Food at the Bistro - OK Leisure centre is not accessible from within the hotel so you need to have suitable clothing (it was snowing when I was there so I didn't venture over which was a shame) My preference would be for something smaller and more friendly.

Initial impression was fantastic and this did not change we would certainly return for another visit. Staff were friendly; check in/out went smoothly but at first we needed a map and a compass to find our room. Although, as it is a large hotel, this came as no surprise and once we had travelled the route a couple of times it became easier. Some of the hallways seemed to be unheated as was our room until we switched the heating on. We arrived late in the evening and just wanted to go to bed but had to sit in our coats until the room had warmed up. My only other criticism is reserved for the beds and pillows - hard, hard, hard. The hardest bed I have ever slept on. The pillow was completely flat. Other than that the room was lovely, spacious, quiet and everything worked, TV, kettle etc. The bathroom was large, clean and had a separate shower as well as bathtub – I welcomed the heated towel rail! Breakfast was excellent and plentiful; no one had to queue.

I was very impressed overall with the hotel. Compared to many others I had researched in the Dublin area it offered excellent value for money. Perhaps we were fortunate in that it was not too crowded during our 4 night stay but we were met with courtesy and good service in all aspects of our stay. Our room did not jhave much of a view but it was large and close to reception and bars. Breakfast was good with attentive staff clearing away on a regular basis. The food was varied and in reasonable quantity and the quality was good. The health centre and pool were good. I did not access the golf facilities. Reception staff were very helpful re transport into the city. A bus ride was only 2 euros even though it took 50 minutes. We had a hire car and the hotel was well located for other major routes to explore the more rural parts of Ireland. The hotel bistro was OK and is open till 11 pm for late arrivals. If I was returning to Dublin area this would be my first choice as a hotel

Assigned a room on check-in but discovered that this room was still occupied. A young manager / supervisor quickly took charge and accompanied us back to reception where we were upgraded to a superior room for our 3 nt stay. This made our stay very comfortable and great vaue indeed. The restaurant (Bistro) was brilliant - food of high quality and very affordable. We shall return to this hotel.

Hotel in nice rural setting yet also convenient enough for Dublin City & Airport. Only stayed B & B but food nicely presented by friendly Staff. Spa / leisure centre is excellent - but must take my golf clubs next time. Shame the weather wasn't better when we were there as I'm sure it would have been really nice sitting outside under the parasols on the bar terrace having a drink or two with a lovely view overlooking the lake and golf course. Generally a really nice buzz about Citywest over the weekend when we stayed. Will visit again - hopefully soon!

This hotel was not only hospitable and eager to please it was amazing. We stayed St. Paddy's weekend so it was a little overpriced but for the short drive from Dublin it was a great savings. The room was good, the golf course was great and the ammenaties were awesome. Breakfast left a little to be desired and wasn't always prompt. (again possibly the weekend) I would reccommend this hotel to anyone with a keen sense of direction (a little confusing to find.. its NOT the exit with the BIG CITYWEST sign it's immediately following that one) and a knack for wanting to stay outside the city but be within driving distance. (15 minutes) We loved it! Sláinte!

Driving up the L-O-N-G driveway we began to feel that we were going to stay at a special place and it was special. There were not one, not two but three helicopters parked on the huge lawn!! The beds were comfortable and the food was very good. Our breakfasts came with the room and that made the day begin nicely. No airport shuttle is provided but most, and we did, have a rental car. We began our Ireland adventure in Shannon and ended in Dublin with this hotel. It was the best of trips!
