Hotel Caravel - Sorrento

Lovely hotel, in a very quiet location and really very very good service. The town of Sant Angello is about 15 minutes walk away from Sorrento and is really peaced out. There is lovely wine bar nearby and also a really good restaurant called Ciao Toto on the same street as the hotel. I would easily stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. The staff were all very helpful & pleasant and extremely efficient. We would certainly return!

The front staff was extremely helpful and friendly. A big thank you goes to the woman with the blonde curly hair at the front desk for helping me with all my questions. She was absolutely amazing and spoke very good english!! The room was a bit small, but very nice and clean. The A/C was acting up in the beginning but eventually it made the room nice and cool. The balcony was overlooking the pool and there was a turtle pond by the hotel entrance. Breakfast was good, complete with all the breads, meats/cheeses and fruits, and the wait staff was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is located a mile or so away from the center of Sorrento, but the walk was nice. Down the street a bit was a beautiful view of the water, and there was a little shop to buy homemade pizzas and pastas. Overall we had a great time at Hotel Caravel and I recommend it to anyone looking for the beauty of Sorrento without the loudness of the town square.

I stayed at the Caravel for a week at the start of July- we arrived in Sant Agnello late in the evening after a long day of travelling in the heat of the summer and were very relieved to find the hotel. Once we got there everything was excellent- the people at check-in were friendly and efficient and we went straight up to our room, which was air-conditioned and relaxed on the huge, comfortable bed. The hotel advertises a continental breakfast but this undersold it a bit as it was very generous, all-you-can-eat affair with hot food, cold meats and cheese, breads, cereals fruits etc that was a good start to every day. The pool was perfect for relaxing by in the afternoon after walking around in the heat all day and the staff were all very friendly and efficient- i would recommend the caravel to anyone- especiall families with young kids as they seemed very family friendly in particular

We really liked staying at this hotel, it was clean comfortable and in a quiet road. The staff were helpful and had booklets etc about trains and buses which they gave you if you asked for them. The breakfast was a selection of continental and also some scrambled eggs and bacon - plenty to fill up on before a day's exploring! Overall the hotel was really nice and I would certainly recommend it to anyone travelling to the area who wants a quiet base about a 5-10 minute bus ride from the heart of Sorrento.

Hotel staff very very helpful, all english speaking, and the rooms are of a good standard. We asked for a balcony room, which we got however the balcony half looked on to the back of a wall!!! Not good! The condition of the room was perfect though which is great for a relaxing break and its close to the sea. Brekky was ok and the swimming pool very clean.

Loved this hotel. It was in a beautiful area 15 minute walk to Sorrento. The pool area was very nice. Recommend it for sure and would and will stay there again. Perfect price and location to go to Pompei, Sorrento, and the Amalfi coast.

a very nice hotel with very good staff who go out of the way to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel kept very well and pool is a great comfort on hot days. A good choice of food for breakfast and the evening menu is great value if you fancy staying in hotel.This hotel is very convenient for the beach but a good walk in to sorrento center . Really enjoyed my stay

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in May 2009 and the directions by train were perfect. A lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The Pool area was perfect after exploring Sorrento. The hotel is a good 30 minutes walk into Sorrento so we caught taxis quite alot so this is something to keep in mind. Turn right out of the Hotel and walk to the bottom of the Hill and eat at the restaurant overlooking the bay. The Lobster is delicious. The bar staff were very friendly at the Hotel and is a nice place to begin your evening or indeed end your evening. The bed in the Hotel (on 4th floor) were very comfy and views very pleasant.

Excellent hotel. Staff extremely helpful. A little far from centre of Sorrento (20-30 min walk). There is a lovely bar/restaurant at the end of the road (250mtrs) which has outstanding views.

Being in Sant'Agnello is better than being in heart of Sorrento. It's not as touristy and you can talk to locals in the bars unlike Sorrento. You are are only about a mile away and can get a shuttle at various times. The room was tastefully decorated (I don't usually comment on that--only on the cleanliness because I don't expect tasteful). It was very clean (and cleaned during our 9 night stay). The breakfast buffet was also very good--but ask for cappucino or espesso. I think the regular coffee is nescafe and there is no charge for it. The bar was fun--learned about grappa. The roof garden has a great view but we were out visiting other places too. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Santagnello is a lovely relaxing place for a short break away. We went in April and the weather was cool in the mornings and evenings and pleasantly warm during the day.The hotel is reasonably positioned in closeness to the central shopping area, can walk the distance or there is the free shuttle bus. Room was comfortable and the Hotel staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful, which all made for a pleasant stay. I would go back again.

A bit of a walk from when the coach drops you off from airport but location is great, with the coast 2mins walk and being away from too much hustle and bustle of Sorrento. Excellent local restaurants. Staff very friendly and poolside very private and relaxing. Everything is close by and the excursions are stress free having been organised by hotel.

The hotel was generally nice, rooms a decent size and tidy. Didnt rate the breakfast at all, I thought you were meant to get decent coffeee in Italy?? The decor was a little too much 1970s, could use an update and considering the cost of rooms I thought the overall value wasnt anything to write home about.

In an excellent location for trains if you are doing independant travel and only a fifteen minutes walk into Sorrento along the coast road passing some very impressive hotels and beautiful scenery. Having said that would still go back to the Caravel as first choice,the staff and feel of the hotel were great.Travelled with our two children aged 20 and 19 and they felt at home as well. If you want night life you will have to go into Sorrento, but was an excellent bar called the Galleria with live music just at the top of the road on Corso Italia.

The hotel is 15 minutes walk from Sorrento city centre. For the pirce Ipaid, I was more than happy with the hotel- good location,pleasant staff, nice pool.

The Hotel Caravel is in a town next to Sorrento. To actually get to downtown Sorrento to catch a ferry boat to Capri, its a taxi ride (or the hotel has limited transport service to get you to Sorrento...the middle of Sorrento...then expect a walk to the pier or downtown). We tried two different rooms at the hotel- both of which had ants. Yes, ants on the floor, on the wall, on a few were even spotted crawling on the bed. The hotel was aware of this problem and maid service was called to exterminate. I guess because of the climate, ants are everywhere?? This was our first time in the area and the only hotel we stayed at, so I can not dispute or confirm the hotel's claim that ants are an everyday occurence. We insisted on a new room, and finally the third room was "ant free". Otherwise, the hotel was clean. Had a great little pool and outside patio. Breakfast in the morning was the best we had in all of Italy. Staff could have been friendlier, but were not rude. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the train station...especially if you are pulling luggage. I would probably go back to stay if I was on the same budget. If I had more money to spend, I would splurge for something better. But it got the job done.

Rigtig godt hotel med velfungerende aircon og en dejlig pool, hvor det ikke er tilladt at reservere liggestole med sit håndklæde, det betyder, at man altid kan få en liggestol, når man har lyst, selv i højsæsonen. Personalet er venligt og hjælpsomt og taler godt engelsk, stuepigen er helt fantastisk sød og venlig.Området er virkelig flot, men der er mange, mange turister i højsæsonen. Badestrandene er små og i bedste fald med grus, i værste fald med sten. Der er en meget lille offentlig strand, resten af strandene skal man betale ca. otte Euro for at benytte, så får man også lov til at låne en liggestol. Hotellet ligger ca. tre km fra Sorrento, som er en by, der er meget præget af turisme. Der er et utal af bedre souvienirbutikker, mange restauranter og så alm. tøjbutikker. I højsæsonen er der mange, mange turister i byen. Kystlinjen i hele området er virkelig smuk og gør, at man kan holde alle turisterne ud. Brug hotellets shuttlebus ned til byen eller en lokalbus, det er en lang gåtur.

Hotellet var standardmæssigt og udstyrsmæssigt prissvarende ,og morgenmaden var efter italiensk standard overraskende god.Endvidere skal receptionspersonalets imødekommenhed fremhæves.Eneste minus var beliggenheden lidt udenfor centrum ikke mindst som følge af de extremt høje taxa priser om aftenen ,når busdriften var indstillet ca kl 22.00

Das Hotel kann man ohne wenn und aber empfehlen. Meine Frau und ich haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und fanden die Lage des Hotels, welches nicht im Zentrum liegt (15Min. Fußweg zum Zentrum) , genau richtig für uns. Die Rezeption spricht etwas deutsch, was uns oft sehr geholfen hat z.B. Flughafentransfer. Die Buchung über das Internet verlief ohne Probleme. Wie schon gesagt, ohne wenn und aber zu empfehlen!
