This is the perfect hotel when you are going to visit DC. Location is great very close to the White House and all other attractions. the hotel is beautiful, love the room with a bath AND a shower, I mean, you can take a shower and your wife or girlfriend can take a bath in the same time. I make frequent trips to the DC area for both business and pleasure. This is one of the nicer hotels which is conveniently located and easily accessable to all major attrations.

We loved the location and the hotel. Sofitel chain has always met our expectations!

Walking distance to all the sites. The hotel restaurant was great, and concierge recommendation of the Equinox Restaurant was terrific - great local food and wine pairing. We stayed 4 nights at Sofitel, with the 4th night free - it was a great deal at this price, and the deal was what made us book this hotel. Really enjoyed it.

The Hotel Sofitel is a good choice if you want to be near the White House and surrounding area. The hotel is about two blocks from the White House and about a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the Washington Monument. The closest Metro station is about a block away. There are also two CVS pharmacies, two Starbucks, and several restaurants in the immediate vicinity along with a NY style deli just up the street. The hotel is in the small to medium size range with a small lobby that contains a small business center and a nice restaurant and a lounge/bar area. The hotel is in a historic building, so there is no pool, and only a small gym in the basement area. Our room was very nice with modern ammenities and comfortable king size bed. The staff was excellent. The overall atmosphere here is refined and classy, perfect for couples as it is quite, maybe a little too refined for families with small children. Overall this is a good choice.

Loved the Sofitel. They went out of their way to help us in any way we asked. Room service is quick and good. Hotel is within walking distance to all of the monuments and museums. Would stay again.

Centrally located in downtown DC, convenient for the main sites / parks.

The location was absolutely perfect for our vacation in DC. All of the staff were extremely professional yet friendly; that included the doormen, bellmen, housekeepers, reception, concierge, restaurant and bar. The room was lovely and the bed exceptionally comfortable. Room service breakfast (selected the night before) was reasonably priced, arrived right on time and was beautifully presented. Probably not recommended for children.

We were VERY satisfied. There was always someone at the ready to take care of our needs. When the concierge was busy, we didn't wait because someone from the Front Desk came over immediately to ask, "How may I help you?"

We loved staying at this "French Theme" hotel. It was a great location, with great service. The a.m. doorman was outstanding. The only place you could use help was the concierge desk.

The service is outstanding, warm and personal, without being obvious or overbearing. The hotel has a deluxe but intimate feel. I would rate it one of my two favorite hotels in the entire world.

Super comfortable bed, very quiet, friendly and very accommodating staff. I hope to stay here again.

Although the location of this hotel was wonderful, we were not happy with our stay. The staff was not very accomodating and their behavior sometimes bordered on rude. Our room was very nice, but housekeeping was not very diligent. The cost of the room definitely did not equal the service we received.

Great location, very close to the White House and the National Monument. Very comfortable hotel and love the decor.

The hotel is pleasantly French and nestled conveniently near Lafayette Square with shopping and Metro access. The outdoor bar is very European and not what one often finds in DC.

An extradinary bargain for a superperbly appointed room. The best room I've stayed in in Washington D.C. at any price.

I have frequently stayed at the Sofitel in NY on business trips and became a big fan. This was a weekend stay with my wife to visit a son in college and it was the first time at this Sofitel location. We were not disappointed. It was comfortable; service was terrific and friendly; and the location was convenient for visiting our son, as well as for its proximity to restaurants and tourist attractions. I especially like that this facility is a modest size (as is the one in NY), so it does not feel impersonal and sterile as most large hotels do. And BTW, it was very reasonably priced. We will definitely stay there again.

The hotel staff, the room, lounge and the resturant were very good and reasonable for this part of town. The room was very comfortable and quiet, although the hotel was busy with meetings. This is a great place to stay. The hotel is close to the major attractions and the staff were very helpful.

We spent five days in Washington Sofitel, it was the best hotel we've stayed in on several trips to America. We have no negatives at all about the hotel, it is so central to most of the interesting sites. We would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is conveniently 1 block or so away from the White House and the other monuments!! Great food at the hotel restaurant and in the surrounding area!! Will definitely stay again!!

The Sofitel Washington Lafayette Square Hotel was amazing! Everything from the valet parking and helpful staff to the palace-like suite exceeded my expectations. The White House, historic monuments and fine dining of many types are a short stroll away. I will make this my regular destination when staying in DC.

Stayed at the Lafayette Hotel for one night. Main concern was the location. I wanted something near Lafayette Square. The location was fantastic. I could have stayed at a cheaper hotel. But this was on the corner of Lafayette Park and Lafayette park attaches to the White House. My destination was Lafayette Park. The metro took me from the airport straight to the hotel--another great perk. The rooms were small and the hotel has no pool, but the hotel has a nice restaurant. Was very satisfied. For me, the size didn't have relevance, more the location, but a pool would have been nice for relaxing. I would stay here again.

Hotel price is not comparable to Hotel room and service. Made an issue about hotel restaurant menu "Glass of Wine" $15 dollars and serves 1/4 of glass. Entire menu was over priced. Management stated thats how wine is served by the glass. Not to be technical but the menu should display what is served not interpetation of what should be served. The appearance of the hotel and staff was pleasant and helpful.

This hotel is over priced in numerous ways. We had a room facing an adjacent building about 6 feet away, So the curtains had to be always closed. The cost of this type of room was not comparable to other hotels in the area for the same price. Also we had dinner in the hotel dining room. The food was pretty good, but the cost of liquor was outrageous. Glass of wine was $15 (actually a half a glass in reality) The menu should reflect what is being served. Also $13 for a small glass of vodka and oj was rediculous. In summary, you could find a better hotel in the area for the money..

Our room was very comfortable with an incredibly soft king-size bed. It was equipped with a very nice HDTV and ample closet space. The room was very clean and we were impressed upon entry. The bathroom was very clean with a roomy tub and contemporary design. The shower looked a little smaller than I expected it to be from pictures I had seen but the tub more than made up for that. The front desk was incredibly friendly and accomdating. The concierge was also very friendly and went out of his way to help us find an attraction we had heard about but did not have any information on. The breakfast was fantastic and worth the price. Location was perfect - only took about 10 minutes to get to the White House. Highly recommended.

My wife and I just spent a weekend at The Sofitel in D.C. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. The room was beautiful and very well kept. The hotel itself was absolutley beautiful and the staff was wonderful.

The staff here are very accommodating and try to anticipate the wish of every guest. This is the second time I have stayed here and I was once again impressed.

The hotel was fine. One should note however, there is a very limited number of restaurants in the neighborhood, in which this hotel is located.
