Best Western Edinburgh Capital Hotel - Edimburgo

The hotel served well on a quick trip to Edinburgh at the end of the festival season. It was by far the most reasonably priced, but not in the town center. The neighborhood it is in is fine, with a large green park nearby. Free parking and wi-fi, a comfortable room, quiet, and a decent breakfast all pluses. Timber floors in our wing squeaked a bit but I do not believe there were rooms below us.

The hotel apparently underwent some renovation recently. Looks like it was a much needed renovation, although it there are some aspects of it that are still pretty old. Beginning with the bottom floor- the reception is very nice. Very brightly lit, friendly staff, and the restaurant has a decent menu and decent prices. The hotel is fairly far away from the town centre, but the bus stop is right around the corner and it is quite easy to travel back and forth. We usually took Bus 26. - The room itself is okay. The elevator is a bit small, but I guess that's typical for the city. You'll notice, as soon as you step out of the elevator, the parts of the hotel that are still very old. Some of the paneling (on floor 2) is very very old wood, like pubs old, and the floor has old and outdated carpet and squeaky floorboards. It's also a tiny bit of a maze getting to some rooms. The overall impression of the hotel is that it's comfortable, homey, a bit far but easy to reach by bus, and overall an endurable stay. It's not luxury, but you do get a nice big room and big bed. Ooh, one thing I think they should definitely do away with though, is the shower curtain.

Firstly this is not an Edinburgh hotel as it takes 40+ minutes on a bus (Last Stop!!). They also had no night desk on a Sunday which left us out in the rain - put us in a room (room 205) with a tiny window, paper thin walls which shook every time anyone closed a door which made it impossible to stay asleep past 6am

For the money that we paid, I was expecting that we would be getting a bit of a shack, but that was NOT the case. We even made a mistake when booking and needed an extra bed in the room. The hotel put us in a Family Room at no extra charge. I appreciated that, and I expect any hotel to do that, but customer service is not what it used to be! I'm glad this hotel still remembers that customers who feel taken care of, return!

We booked this hotel for one night in Edinburgh. We paid a reasonable price and from what we saw in the photos expected it to be a nice hotel. When we arrived first impressions of the hotel reception and bar area were good until we arrived in our room which was not clean, old fashioned and looked nothing like the photos displayed on the website. We immediately complained and requested another room which seemed a hassle for the receptionist, although she eventually agreed to change it for us. When we arrived at our second room which was supposedly "superior" this one fitted the photos on the website however you are not given the opportunity to select the "superior" type of room and it wasn't very clean. We would definately not recommend this hotel as it did not fit the advertisement and was very disappointing. If you are staying at this hotel then make sure you state that you want a superior room.

Clean and nice room in Edinburgh University. Great services and the breakfast buffet is awesome!
