I loved the visual aspect of the Hotel, so close to city centre but with wonderful gardens spreading out in front. Plentiful complimentary parking a must for me. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was standard fare but good nonetheless. Wonderful coffee atrium area where we carried out our informal business meeting. Will stay again.

Myself and friends booked a 3 night break for a friends birthday and wanted to stay somewhere extra special. The beautiful photos of the hotel on the Internet sold it to us instantly and the room rate was also excellent value for money. We were slightly worried before arriving at the hotel as photos can be deceiving however we were in for a huge surprise. The hotel and grounds were absolutely fantastic, the staff were outstanding and the rooms were beautiful, so beautiful that I could have happily spent the whole holiday in there! The hotel was slightly outside the city center but has excellent bus links and there was a bus stop just outside the hotel gates. The journey took approximately 15 minutes into Dublin City Center. Taxi's were also easy to get to and from the hotel. The food at the hotel was slightly expensive but then prices in Dublin are expensive wherever you go. We ate in both the restaurant and had room service and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The bed was the nicest I have ever slept in, the widescreen TV was a lovely surprise and so were the ice machines on every floor. I would have no hesitation in staying there again and will be saving up so that we can stay even longer next time.

At the offer price through Hotel.com it was possibly the best I've had in Ireland. Big room, big bed, lots of tv channels, good gym, excellent food( brakfast and dinner, big posrtions though!), extremely helpful staff. Liked being able to charge the taxi to the room. I stayed on business, but am planning to come back for New Year. Wouldn't pay the standard rate.

Very comfortable stay. Staff were excellent. Good location if you want to explore the surrounding area and not just the city centre. Thought we might struggle with 5 star bar prices but to be honest we ate elsewhere on a couple of occasions and food and drink prices were expensive everywhere so the hotel was actually quite competitive - apart from room service which was expensive as you would expect. Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is very comfortable - I have not stopped raving about the wonderful beds! The grounds are beautiful and the hotel enjoys peace and quiet, as it is situated out of town. It is an easy bus ride into town and not too far to the DART station. I cannot think of anything negative to say about it and look forward to returning soon!

Everything about this Hotel is great except for the 15 Euro cab ride to the hotel at the end of the day from downtown Dublin. My wife and I traveled with our 2.5 year old son, and he had a great time exploring the grounds and gardens. The staff was very friendly (especially the concierge), and helps us to get around. In the end we really appreciated our time here and it made our trip to Dublin a great experience.

The hotel is really very nice, however it was about 90F in the room at night with all the windows open. The AC wasnt working, but without heating from an external source a hotel room in Ireland at night with all the windows open would never get that hot. I asked that about the AC and they said they would send someone up to fix it which didn't happen. The chocolate in the minibar fridge had actually melted because of the heat!! Apart from the temperature of the room the stay was enjoyable.

Lovely hotel and gardens, but we were not allowed access on to the gardens on two occasions. We had a four night break at end June and it was sunny and very warm but we were not allowed outside as there was a wedding on . Complained to management , and they agreed it was unfair to other hotel guests but then continued to tell us we wouln't be allowed in garden for several hours the next day because of a christening. Were given a token box of chocolates!! would rather have sat in the gardens.

I was worried because of some past negative comments about the staff, but I found the staff to be most excellent and all were overly accommodating and went out of their way to assist in every way. We stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. I loved my stay at this hotel in spite of the few deficiencies noted below. Overall it was excellent and I would gladly stay there again should I return to Dublin. The hotel itself and the property is stunningly beautiful. I would have loved to just stay in the terrace and gardens all day! There are gardens both in the front and rear of the hotel. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the coastline and it is worth a walk or drive to the shoreline as that is beautiful as well. Many people complained about the distance to downtown Dublin, however by car it was an easy 10 minute or less ride into the city, and by bus it was only about 15 minutes into the city at a cost of EU1.60 each, with stops directly at St Stephens, Trinity College, and other main tourist stops. The bus stop is conveniently almost directly opposite the hotel on Stillorgan Road (N11). Note that the hotel provides free electric converters for laptops and other appliances upon request. They gave me one for 2 appliances, but would provide more if needed. A great unexpected and money saving perk. The only issue with the room was that the a/c does not really work in the hotel rooms. First, you have to leave a room card key in a slot to run the A/C, so we left one of the extra card keys in the slot round the clock to continuously run the a/c in order to squeeze the most cool out of it as possible (so request an extra card key!). The staff also provided a fan which helped to circulate the little bit of cold air. Together with the open window, it was sufficiently cool and pleasant. They even provided us with a better room upon check in, upgrading us from twin bed to queen (or double?) beds. Try to get the garden view if possible as it is stunning. OK, the restau

What a lovely place to stay when in Dublin! Athough not within easy walking distance of the city really, the bus stop is strainght across from the entrance and there are 2 buses running into the centre. The food was excellent - room we had was fabulous with a great view, tea, coffe & hot choc in tray in room, flat screen tv, spacious room, staff very courteous and friendly. the toiletries in the bathroom were lovely - not the usual cheapie ones. Access to business centre with your room card and internet there, staff prited out a few pages for me and were v helpful! Bar food was a bit on the expensive side and there wasnt a great choice. But we were allowed into the Snooker room (Ken Doherty's) and it was great to see it. I certainly recommend Radisson St Helens. Even though it was a abudiness trip, i felt relaxed after the 5 days there. Will be back!

I visit Dublin regularly on business and I have stayed twice here recently. The first time I found the quality of the breakfast delivered to the room was not great and the order was wrong. I pointed out to the waiter, he came back with another wrong order, obviously not understanding english very well. I gave up on trying to get what I needed (brown Irish bread). On the second visit I decided not to risk breakfast. However on this occasion the shower did not work. I mentioned to the receptionist who noted this. There was no offer of complimentary breakfast or something to compensate. After all after paying good money I would expect to be able to have a shower. The hotel is comfortable, rooms clean and so on. It is a nice looking hotel in attractive grounds but I think it is not achieving 5 star and am reluctant to stay there again. There are 4 star hotels who are more deserving of my hard earned cash.

Although the hotel is 3.5 miles away from Dublin city centre this poses no problems as the DART can get you there in a matter of minutes for only about €2. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it looked very nice.

Transport from the airport and the hotel itself were so easy to do and find after the flight, the air coach from the hotel delivers you quickly there for 14 euros return. The hotel has its own earmarked stop but ask the coach driver to show you exactly where is located the hotel as this can be confusing after the coach has set you down. we didnt need to hire a car, public transport is everywhere and a convenient train line is also just 'down the road'.The hotel is welcoming and exactly what we would expect from a 5 star hotel, the television is sufficiently all embracing for a british person to enjoy although BBC 1 came from Scotland not Northern Ireland. We liked the room, the size the bed,the setting of the room in the hotel grounds, the toiletries and shower/bath arrangements etc for the bathroom. As usual the fan didnt work,we have come to expect non working bathroom extractor fans / bedroom lights in all hotels nowadays, but the standard room at the SAS Radisson is so big that this didn't seem to matter and we were not discomforted by any lingering steaminess etc.We had a great time,we would go back although we didn't take evening meals there,so we have no experience in that regard.Room delivered food and drink service seemed unbelievably expensive from the price list supplied by the hotel but this IS a 5 star,so I guess this would be expected.Be warned, Dublin is an expensive city in which to eat out so be prepared to have your wallet fleeced big time wherever you go

We just got back from a whirlwind tour of Ireland and stayed in several hotels in Dublin, Cork and Galway. The best value and the nicest overall was the Raddisson, St. Helens. The hotel is a couple of miles from the city center (a 10 Euro cab fare or you can take a bus) but you are getting true 5 star accomodations for less than any downtown hotel. The grounds are magnificient, the staff is attentive and the included breakfast was first rate. We had a rental car which costs us 10 euros a day to park at the other hotels, but parking was free here. If you want to go first class on at a budget tourist rate, this is the place for you. (Also, we had our two teenagers with us and all four stayed in the room (two queensized beds) at no additional charge. In other cities we had to take two rooms which doubled the costs.

The hotel is very easily reachable from the airport using the Air Coach - 8 euros each. Taxi will cost you around 25 Euros. Hotel is beautiful, as you'd expect from a 5 star, prices for the rest of the services are also what you'd expect from a 5 star - so unless you want to pay 33 Euros for your breakfast, and 7 Euros for a pint then use the hotel as a luxury base, and eat in town. Drinks won't be much cheaper there, but you can find some good deals on food :-) Staff are very friendly, and very welcoming to everybody, all in all a great experience.

One person commented that it was very expensive to eat and that is true. Otherwise very, very good and I will certainly stay again. I like the location and the setting is very nice. Not close to the noice and traffic but a very easy bus ride to town and a taxi back in the evening is not expensive. Outstanding Hotel. Exactly what you would expect from a five star hotel. The grounds and hotel are beatiful. The area that the hotel is located in is outside of walking distance from the city center so you will need to use the bus wich takes about 10 minutes. The area the hotel is in is known as the upper class nieborhood of Dublin and on your bus ride to city center you will see why. Be advised there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel not even a gas station. Great place to stay if you are renting a car or want to spend your day in the city center and come back for the night.

Very child-friendly hotel. Housecleaning is easily the most professional I have ever experienced, with great and consistent attention to detail. Our room was spacious, well maintained though a little old fashioned furnished in keeping with the period building. Nice and quiet most nights of the week. Nice lounge and restaurant facilities. All in all our stay at St. Helens was excellent value for money, though keep in mind our visit was off-season (February).
