My husband and I made a last minute decision to go to Chicago for the Labor Day weekend and was lucky enough to find this great hotel. Everything was wonderful from check-in to check-out. The rooms are beautifully decorated, as well as the bathroom. On Saturday night, I called to schedule an in-room massage for the next morning and it was taken care of immediately. The massage therapist was one of the best I've ever had and I get a massage every other week. The price was also reasonable. From now on when I visit Chicago, I plan to stay at this hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It was within a short walk to Michigan Avenue and Millenium Park, and the staff kept a very clean and neat hotel. Our room was wonderful....small but more than adequate. We really liked the newspapers and free coffee at breakfast and the wine party at night. I highly recommend this hotel to others.

We've been to this hotel before and loved it. However, I have to say that the mattresses are a little too soft. My husband and I both had back pain each day we woke up. We went from Chicago to Indiana, and stayed at a Hampton Inn. Neither one of us had any back pain. Other than that it was a great hotel.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful!!! We were treated like royalty our entire stay. The hotel is very convenient to just about everything. It's very easy to get to public transportation if needed. We came in from the airport and it was just a short 1 1/2 block walk from the CTA train. This hotel is very central to all the tourist attractions. I'm not sure why you wouldn't stay here.

I'm a Chicago native back in town for a family trip. The location of this hotel can't be beat. It's right next to the River dividing the North and South ends of Michigan Ave. The North offers excellent shopping, Navy Pier and the waterfront, while the South has the Museums and Millenium Park. We were within walking distance to most downtown attractions and restaurants. The hotel itself is nice, on the smaller side with a whimsical, boutique feel. The cookies at the front desk and daily evening wine reception were a nice touch. Our room was nice and felt bigger with the high ceilings. The view was awful as we directly faced a parking structure. The beds were a little hard. Otherwise, it was nice. It's also attached to a great restaurant, the Southwater Kitchen which features some awesome comfort foods.

we stayed for 3 days at the Hotel Monaco. The staff were friendly, there was a wine reception every night and the room was lovely. The hotel is also convenient to the buses and the trains that took us all over Chicago. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago for fun or for business.

The Hotel Monaco is an excellent hotel for business or pleasure while in Chicago. It is conveniently located very close to the Chicago Theater (a 2 minute walk), and featured excellent customer service, large rooms, and great attention to detail. Kimpton properties are an eclectic lot, but I patronize them whenever possible. The Monaco has many amenities, and even lets you reserve a goldfish for your room, which was a whimsical touch that my wife and I took advantage of. The concierge we dealt with, Sylvia, was absolutely superior. She was exceptionally knowledgeable, and gave us many key tips that made our stay even better than it already was. The Monaco is a great hotel with very nice rooms, great service, and a friendly staff. If there is anything on the negative side to mention it's that it is somewhat pricey, but I am looking for a good value more than the absolute lowest price. The Monaco delivers an excellent value, fully justifying a premium price. I recommend it highly.

On our second night at the hotel, we ate at their in-house restaurant. We got two $20 vegetarian entrees: one was extremely salty and the other was a simple pasta dish that shouldn't have cost $20. The service from the front desk staff, doormen and concierge were wonderful. They helped us find a good restaurant, running trails, and greeted us whenever we passed.

The staff at Hotel Monaco were excellent; friendly and helpful. My arrival in Chicago was 8:15a. My intent was to leave my bag in storage at the hotel and check in later however because there was a room available with at river view I was immediately checked in which allowed me to hang my close before going to my first meeting. That was fantastic. The room decor is interesting if not clever. Seems like the HM services business travels until one really looks at the rooms. For example when I saw the tiger and zebra print bathrobes along with some tiger print boxers I wondered if I had been given a honeymoon suite. I did give me a chuckle because at first I thought a guest had left their tacky smoking jacket in the closet. The big round mirror at the foot of the bed was an obvious. Overall the accommodations were fine and I had a funny story to tell throughout the day.

This is a wonderful hotel, and well worth the price. The doorman was very gracious, we arrived early for a show and they stored our luggage in a secure area, the wine during their wine hour was quite good, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was nice, comfortable, and clean, the South Water Kitchen restaurant attached served an excellent meal, and check-out and car return the following day went smoothly and quickly. Do make sure you ask for the goldfish--it's a very nice touch. We had the best experience of any hotel we've ever stayed at, and will absolutely be returning!

I stayed at the Hotel Monaco Chicago and loved every aspect of it. The front desk personnel was friendly, helpful, respectful and professional. They upgraded me when I got there and even sent a bottle of wine to my room to help celebrate my friends birthday. Even though there was a snow storm they helped with dinner reservations and recommendations. Also, I had to leave quickly because my daughter became ill and I needed to get home. They helped me get to the train station as quick as possible in terrible weather. I will definetly be staying at this hotel again.

Lovely hotel. Great river and street view from our excellent room. Incredible value from hotels.com rate. I wish the fitness room had been a little better-equipped but it was adequate. The goldfish was a nice touch in the room. At check-in, staff graciously switched us to twin beds instead of the King in our reservation.

We were very pleased with the Hotel Monaco. The room was clean and tastefully decorated with an amazing view that overlooked the Marina Towers and the Chicago River and we loved the L'Occitane bath products that were provided. The free wine hour was a wonderful way to relax after a day of traveling and the staff could not have been more kind and helpful with their suggestions of where to eat and making sure that the room met our expectations. The hotel was within short walking distance to all the major attractions in Chicago. We plan on returning again this summer and possibly bring our dog since they are a pet friendly hotel.

I usually like the Klimpton hotels, but found this one to be lacking. The rug in my room appeared soiled (they allow pets), and the only room available was across from the elevators. There was no MP3 device available in the room even though they did have a flat screen television. I found it unusual that the room didn't have a clock/radio/ mp3 player but had a rather dated cd player.

If you want to stay near the Magnificent Mile without being subject to its crowds and noise, then the Hotel Monaco is a good choice. We appreciated the hotel staff putting a humdifier in our room and the free coffee/tea offered in the lobby each morning.

Chicago's Monaco Hotel was a real treat, much nicer than we expected. We were so thrilled with the hotel restaurant that we had pretty much every meal there -- excellent menu variety and wonderful dishes, although a bit pricey. The hotel's location is great, just a short walk to the Art Institute and the Magnificent Mile on the other side of the river. Our little complimentary goldfish, Herbert, was also a fun element. We'll definitely return next time we need lodging in Chicago.
