I stayed at this hotel on a whim for one night but would recommend short stays there. It's basic and cheap but we just needed a place to put our heads down. Staff was very helpful, place was very clean and quite. The location is great for walking around/touring downtown sydney. Shuttle to and from airport run to the hotel for a fee. Nothing bad to report

The Travelodge Hotel Sydney was an excellent deal. We received a great price! It included all of the amenities we needed. It was within walking distance to all the tourist spots in Sydney. We were taking a family vacation which included a 5-year-old. He could make the walks with no problem. The only down sides (because it was a family vacation) was that it was amongst several clubs and an additional bed came at a price. I would have enjoyed a room with two double beds instead of one, but for the price we were ok with one. We also enjoyed the convenience of the internet "room" for a small fee. The concierge desk was also very helpful! Great stay!

Average Hotel. Like a Modern Howard Johnson Hotel in the USA. About a 20 min walk to the opera house and 5 min walk to St Mary's Cathedral. The standard room had a microwave and fridge. The room was clean, but during your stay housekeeping just does light cleaning. About a 3 min walk to the Museum Station, and a 15 min train ride to the airport 15.20 Australian Dollars for a one way ticket to/from the international terminal. There are supermarkets on Oxford street about 5 min walk if you want to eat cheap. Front Desk staff was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. The price is unbeatable!

This hotel had mixed reviews but once I arrived I was very delighted to learn that it was in a VERY central location with all of Sydney's CBD, Kings Cross, Chinatown, Darling Harbour accessible by foot. It was a great deal and exceeded my expectations given what I read here... Rooms are decent, with a flat screen TV and a few good channels, clean and was, per fliers posted in lifts/elevators, renovated.

We stayed here for 5 days and loved this hotel. Perfect location, easy walking distance to everything. Super clean, comfortable bed, great maid service. Everything was new (at least when we were there). Comes with microwave, kitchen sink, full dish service -- perfect for our situation. Very quiet at night. Was a million times better than out hotel in Melbourne!!!

A buddy and I stayed at this hotel for a little over a week. The room was very nice and the services offered were excellent. The front desk was INCREDIBLY helpful; even found us a restaurant where we could eat crocodile, kangaroo and emu! The internet was a little expensive, but every McDonalds in Sydney has free wireless and is open 24/7. Another downfall unfortunately was the beds. They were kind of hard compared to soft American beds, but we were in Sydney, so didn't matter much anyways. The cleaning service was great; felt safe leaving my computer and valuables in room. Less than a five minute walk to Museum train station, two stations away from Circular Quay and one from Central.

I stayed in a triple room in the Travelodge, on arrival I did not know what to expect as it was a 3 star hotel. We stayed in room 601 and the room was very spacious with 3 proper beds and a huge bathroom. The hotel is a fabulous and it is in a brilliant location across from Hyde Park and about 10 minutes walk to Darling Harbour, I would definately recommend this hotel to friends and family staying in Sydney. All the staff were very friendly.

Stayed in this hotel during late May - early June of 2009, and payed a reasonable rate with Hotels.com. Overall, this hotel is good for budget minded travelers who want to be in a central location. Hyde Park and Museum station are nearby, as is Oxford Street (for nightlife and dining). Chinatown and Darling Harbor are a short walk away. Location wise, great hotel. Try exploring deeper in the neighborhoods around the hotel for good cheap eats and reasonable liquor stores. The room itself has a nice kitchenette facility--very handy. I bought my own foods (for snacking and breakfast) and had no problems storing it on the shelves, or in the compact fridge. The beds and other furnishings were adequate; nothing special, but exceeded my expectations for a "budget" hotel. There is not much room in the drawers for two people, however. I had no problem with the bathroom. I actually enjoyed the free-standing shower. I just kept a towel on the floor to block the water from spreading out on the floor. The water pressure can be weak at times. There is no Internet access in the room, and the hotel charges to use a console in the lobby area. Try visiting nearby cafes or a McDonald's for free WiFi access. There are also numerous net cafes with computers for use, at a nominal rate. Also -- and I know this may be an isolated incident (I hope) -- but the cleaning lady was quite persistent about service on a few occasions. Although we had the "Do Not Disturb" sign out, she called our room, from nextdoor, to ask if we wanted room service. This occurred twice while we slept-in. I found this to be annoying since we were on vacation, and tended to wake-up rather late. Hopefully our comments to the hotel on this matter helped.

The Travelodge in Wentworth Ave is ideally placed for city access. There is a free bus service (555) which goes from the street behind and traverses the town centre - it finishes at 3pm however but you can easily catch another normal bus. The rooms and lobby are undergoing a refurb. It is a very busy hotel. The breakfast is excellent and is the only meal served in the hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful

It's very easy to visit all the attractions in Sydney from this hotel. Just a 5 minute walk, you can get to the train station. The hotel is next to the Hyde Park and Australia Museum too, which are worth to see! The only thing that I dont like is the Shuttle Bus service to the airport. The driver took us around to many other hotels before going straight to the airport, but did not let us know when or how long it'd take. We nearly missed the flight because of the shuttle.

Like some of the other reviewers said - you get what you pay for. Upon arrival I was given a room with 3 single beds - and told that's because I booked through Hotels.com Still, I could have switched if I wanted to (the next day) to a room with a queen-size bed, but I decided to stay in that room because it was facing the back of the hotel. Silly me, I was hoping this would be the quieter side. Big mistake. Sleeping there was like sleeping next to a race track. The hotel is on a very busy street and for some reason Sydney residents just love to rev up their car's engines up the hill. Thank goodness I had brought up one of those noise-making devices to cancel out some of the noise. The room was decent, though. I have no complaints. The corridor leading to the room stank like the worst B.O., so you may have to hold your breath until you get to your room. Or maybe that was just the 6th floor :) The internet was expensive, but if you go a block or two down, there is an Indian restaurant that has free internet and cheap meals. So, I used them instead. They also have a nice shuttle to the airport, costing $14 AUD (which is pretty good, compared to expensive cabs; i think the subway may cost about as much). If noise is not an issue for you, you should definitely consider this hotel. If it is, think again.

Swipe cards to operate lifts were a pain, always needed to be re-connected to system. room was clean, but not spotless. We are certain our bathroom floor was never properly washed. This hotel was pretty cheap, and you get what you pay for. The room was smelly from mold on the shower curtain. There is no separation on the ground between the shower and rest of bathroom, so water gets everywhere when you shower. The TV in the room was small and fuzzy. I liked the couch in the room. Pillows were very flat. The location was fine because it was near a major bus stop and train station.

The hotel is conveniently located, close to bus service & walking distance to the business district, monorail, coffee shops, etc. The room rate was a bargain, but there were several problems- no one avail to help with luggage, the elevators worked sporadically, occasionally one of them out of service,it was easier to use the stairs. the bathroom was not clean, rough plaster walls had hair & other questionable items stuck to them, no washcloths were provided nor available in the bathrooms. This hotel is a good example of "you get what you pay for", which was not much !!

We stayed at the Travelodge Sydney for one night as we were passing through. We found it to be a good choice for the money. Although not luxurious, our room was clean and included a small kitchenette. We were a short walk to Sydney's CBD and within a couple of blocks of all major transport. We arrived at the hotel at 10 am and our room was not ready but we were able to store our bags until we checked in at 2 pm. Although young, the staff was friendly and helpful. In addition to some routine tourist advice they were able to set us up with a shuttle to the airport at 5 am the next morning--it worked out beautifully. There were several internet terminals in the lobby (I never used them so I do not know if they were free or required payment) but there was no available internet option in the room which was a bit of a hassle for us. Other than that I really have no complaints. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
