El bien diseñado Jardín Botánico, situado frente a la entrada, bien merece una visita. A sus espaldas queda el Parque del Retiro, considerado el santuario verde de Madrid. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lope de Vega. The room was great, the bathroom was spacious and modern, but most of all, the service was outstanding. They went above and beyond to provide information and offer their help when my purse was stolen at a crowded coffee place. Immediately, they gave me numbers to call, and even took a message for me after I had checked out, enabling me to recover some of the items from my purse which were dropped off at a Madrid health center. The location is close to the Prado, and a short walk from the Plaza Santa Ana, which is a great place to have tapas or a nice dinner. I will never forget our great stay and the wonderful staff at the Lope de Vega!

The Hotel Lope de Vega was just perfect for us. The location, in the museum triangle, could not have been better for our plans. The desk personnel were very helpful, appreciated our attempts to communicate in our very limited Spanish, and had an adequate command of English. Their cable tv had an international option which contained a couple of English-language stations, including CNN, so we were able to keep up with what was happening in the world. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

This was 5th or 6th visit to this hotel in perhaps 3 years. We love Madrid - its a great walking city and this hotel is well placed for all of the sites, museums, restaurants and nightlife. Its not the most luxurious hotel but it is consistent, comfortable, the staff are friendly and it is reasonably priced. We tend not to take the Breakfast rate and get a quick snack for Breakfast in the little cafe next door.

Great location literally across the street from the Prado. 10 minute walk to subway station or 15 minutes to main train station. Lots of good local restaurants and tapas bars within 10 minute walk. Hotel was really nice and quite charming. Free internet access in lobby and fresh fruit on every floor.

Our stay at the Hotel Lope de Vega definitely was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke English so I didn't have to worry about my broken Spanish. They were patient with me each time I came in and practiced my spanish on them by asking for my room key. The room was very nice, and it was a nice size. The bathroom was very roomy and had a great tub and shower. Water pressure was really good. We could walk almost anywhere in the we wanted to go. It is right by the three art museums. By the way - on Sunday we went to 2 (Prado and Reina Sophia) for free. They have certain times you go such as the Prado was from 5pm to 8pm - wait in the line and it just takes 10-15 minutes to get in for free. There was a subway station a 5 minute walk away from the hotel and a bus stop 3 minute walk away. Both are easy to use if you don't want to walk. I would stay in the Lope De Vega hotel again without hesitation. The breakfast is really good, and the desk gave us 2 for 1 coupons daily so ask about that if your breakfast is not included.

Across the street from the Prado and within walking distance of central sights and places of interest. The room was quiet and clean, and the windows could be opened for fresh air. Unfortunately, I do not speak Spanish, and in this hotel that was a definite disadvantage, but I would stay there again.

Charming hotel, decor. We had a fine view of the roof tops of Barcelona and Tibidabo(and double windows kept it very quiet). The location at the top of Las Ramblas is great for walking, metro (Catalunya) or taxi. There is an amazing morning market close by: ask.

We chose this hotel because of the good reviews other travlers had given it, and they weren't wrong. Friendly staff, pleasant rooms, very clean. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Located within a couple of blocks of 3 major museums and Atocha train station, the location can't be beat.

For the price you pay this hotel is outstanding. This was my second time in Madrid and I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's location and appeal. Perfect for those staying only long enough to visit the three major museums, Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen, this hotel is within easy walking distance of all three. There are enough sights within walking distance--Plaza de Cibeles, Parque Retiro, and the Chueca district--to make the metro unnecesary. The room was clean and comfortable. The outside noise is minimal at night, and surprisingly so since only two blocks away is a seemingly well visited entertainment district with numerous clubs, restaurants, and tapas bars. There was a SLIGHT smell of sewage in the bathroom but after several trips around Europe I've come to find this a normal condition even in the nicest of hotels. I only mention it since most American travelers would not expect it. Overall, an excellent choice and I would recommend highly to anyone traveling to Madrid, whether for business or pleasure.

The hotel is a 10-15 minute ride from Barajas Airport (recommend Aerocity van service), across the street from the Prado Museum, Madrid Park and Madrid Vision Bus Tour stop. Central location with easy walking or taxi access to all major areas. Starbucks on the corner. Rooms were typical European size; clean, comfortable with updated bathroom facilities, free internet access in room. Front desk staff were very friendly, helpful, though short on English skills. Their recommendations for Flamenco show and dinner were excellent. Overall I would readily return and highly recommend this hotel. A great, small hotel in a beautiful city.
