Perfect location just down the street from the main train station and not far walking distance to Old Town. A bit noisy due to being on a main street. Overall I would stay there again for the price. Great Italian Restaurant near train station in the City Center building.

This hotel is just down from the train station. After we checked in we were told to cross a main road, and our room was on the 1st floor in that building... I didn't notice on there website that the hotel had rooms in a separate building away from the main hotel. We had to cross the road every morning for breakfast which was a bit of a pain. It was a clean hotel and breakfast was very good. Rooms are not sound proof.

Staff was very friendly and helpfull, and hotel is 20min walk to downtown or catch a bus two blocks away. They have a small parking lot if you come by car which was our case, and which is not advertised in their internet ad. Very convenient. Nice breakfast also. Only problem was that the room was too warm and no ar conditioning. A good value for cost.

Location did not matter in our case since we had a car but it is a bit far from old town if walking. Public transportation is available close to the hotel. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is dated, the rooms need to be updated. Good choice for budget traveler but a hotel location closer to the old town would be more desirable.

the best decision we made was to stay at the salzburger - they had a television channel showing sound of music 24/7 so we rewatched the film several times and went on the tour with a full appreciation of what the guide was talking about. (good tour, highly recommended). there was another channel showing armadeus. the room was clean, quite spacious, comfortable. continental breakfast included large selection of cold meats and cheeses. staff were friendly and helpful. located <5 mins walk from station, town centre was a 15min walk away. hotel restaurant served average food, but it was convenient.

Hotel has a great location near the train station which is only a block away. There's a bus that drops you from the airport to the station and it only takes 20 minutes and 2 Euros. The hotel rooms are big and clean. The beds are comfortable and bathroom modernized. The best is the service from the reception staff to the restaurant staff. They always answered our questions and was there to provide information with a smile on their face.

The room was great, the breakfast was great, and the location can't be beat! It was spitting distance from the main train station! When you checked in, the concierge gave us maps and brochures on local sites to see and his own recommendations as well. They also booked reservations at a local dinner place for us.

We had a very nice stay in Salzburg at the Salburger Hof. Our GPS directed us to another Salzburger Hof nearby in Germany. Make sure you enter the hotel address. We had two adults and two children (ages 13 and 11). We got two rooms and I generally recommend that in Europe. We did see a room set up for four people in this hotel and that would also work but looked a little cramped. We stayed in the "annex" across the street where the rooms are very new. We were given a choice between rooms in the original hotel or the annex, both are fine. The hotel is close to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). It is a long walk to the main area of Salzburg. There is plenty of bus service from Haubtbahnhof, but we did not use it, opting to walk.

We had a very large room, European Style, very clean. Wireless internet was available for around 4 euros an hour. The resturant was good for breakfast buffet. The area is very safe and 200 yards from the main train station. For the budget traveler I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

This motel is in a very good location near the train station in Salsburg. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definately stay there again!

This hotel is conveniently located 3 minutes from the central train station which is great if you have to catch an early morning train. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the old town of Salzburg. The staff was extremely pleasant and the hotel was charming. Our room was located across the street where the hotel purchased a floor or two in an apartment block. At first I was a little reluctant to stay in a room that was across the street from the main hotel building, however, the room was great. It was extremely spacious and newly renovated. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was great! The best part of the hotel was the breakfast. Breakfast was amazing, and the service was great. Even the hotel owner stopped by our table to say hello. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. If you don't mind walking to the old town, this is absolutely a wonderful hotel. Well worth the price.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean, spacious and comfortable, but it could have used some nice plush chairs. They didn't supply toiletries because they feel that it is not eco-friendly, but they did have soap/shampoo in a dispenser (not a problem, just an observation). The room was nice and quiet and I would stay there again. The restaurant had a nice breakfast buffet and an excellent menu fo dinner. I was very pleased with this hotel.

This hotel is about a 10 min walk to the centre of Salzburg. It is located near the railway station so handy if your taking the train! Very clean hotel and you can drink beer there 24 hours a day!

For the price, location, friendlyness of the staff, I'm very happy with my stay. Right near the main train station & access to public transportation. Very friendly staff. Hotel restaurant has delicious dinner meals, and a very good breakfast.

The room is more like three stars than a four-star hotel room, but it is clean. The location is very convenient--a three-minute walk from the train station. I paid more for a room including breakfast buffet, and it was well worth it. Of all the European hotels I stayed at, their breakfast buffet has the best selection. Elizabeth, who works at front desk, was very warm and helpful. I also needed to pay an extra five Euros for an air conditioned room, but again it was worth it.

Very close to the train station, and a short walk to the old city. Room was spacious and comfortable, and offered a 24-hour loop of the movies "Amadeus" and "The Sound of Music", of which we took advantage. The bathrooms were more than adequate. The desk staff spoke good English and ere very helpful. It was very much worth the low price. I definitely recommend this hotel...

My hat goes off to Johann and his helpful staff at the Hotel Salzbuger Hof! It is a delightful hotel in a nice location, within a 10-15 minute walk from the best sights in Salzburg. We only stayed one night, but that was definitly not enough. We were upgraded to the Sound of Music Suite which was Very large, and included a nice sized double bedroom and a seperate sitting room, in addition to a large bathroom. They DO have an elevator as well--you can not always assume that in Europe! We enjoyed our breakfast, which was included in the price of our room, Standard German/Austrain fare of sliced meats and cheeses, breads, coffee, juices, yogurts and cereals. We also would HIGHLY recommend the restaurant attached to the hotel for Dinner--I am not positive if it is run by the same ownership--but the food was Fantastic! We Hope to someday find our way back to our Charming friends at the Hotel Salzburger Hof!

Great location - a short walk from the train station and convenient to all transportation. Comfortable accommodations, excellent breakfast, and friendly service.

We enjoyed this hotel with a short walk to the main station, friendly staff and cute themed rooms. The bathroom is large and clean. Very extensive minibar and great view from the room.

Salzburg was our second stop on our trip through Germany and Austria. I was very pleasantly surprised with the Der Salzburg as it was the lowest priced hotel of the 3 we stayed at on our trip. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was really nice and clean. The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful in getting us any information we needed (we often asked for street addresses for our GPS system and they would pull up the info on the internet for us). They offered free parking (the only hotel that did) right outside the front door. The only downfall was the wireless internet would not work properly from our room. We had to bring our laptop down to the lobby for it to work properly and they did charge for this service. The location was extremely close to the train and bus stations (which was why we originally chose it), but we ended up renting a car so it was a bit unnecessary. The walk to both new and old town was no more than 15 minutes - not bad at all. The neighborhood seemed safe. They breakfast was pretty good and included in our stay. We even ate at the hotel restaraunt due to some bad weather one night and it was one of our most enjoyable dinners. The food was VERY good and they even threw in an after dinner drink for free. All in all, a great stay and would definately recommend it to anyone going to Salburg!

Because the train station was so close it was easy to catch a bus anywhere since they stop at the train station. We took full advantage of the free parking and the bus!

I really enjoyed the hotel. I believe that the description of the hotel that was provided was very accurate. The location was wonderful, within walking distance of all sights, and the hotel provided all necessary tours and information.

My wife and I stayed in one of the "sound of music" rooms and loved it. Comfortable bed, clean, modern bathroom. Greatness. There's even a channel that runs nothing but the sound of music over and over. Pretty funny. :)

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were "themed" by their description, but don't get over excited about that. We were in Salzburg to enjoy the city and explore the Sound of Music theme. This is the perfect hotel to get you in the mood for that. With the movie constantly playing in your room, if you choose, you can see the sites and then see them in the movie. Quite fun if you're looking for a theme trip.

The hotel charges for everything....including packets of coffee, sugar, etc. in the room. They are very stingy with towels and there were no wash cloths. There is no air conditioning and the lighting was very dim.

Comfortable hotel with excellant customer service. Rooms are comfortable and nice complementary breakfast. Nice walk into city center along the river...not far from city center...about 15-20 minute walk. Hotel is near main train/bus station. Great for travelers without a car. Hotel has free parking! Great Hotel overall!

Our stay in the "Mozart Suite" was quite enjoyable! Unlike many hotels in the region, the room and bathroom are spacious and eloquently decorated. The hotel is centrally located for convenient walking to all the beautiful sights of Salzberg. You really can walk to see all of the sights featured in "The Sound of Music", then watch the movie frequently as it is shown 24 hrs/day in the room! The restaurant served a variety of delicious foods. I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel staff were amazing, so friendly and helped with our every need. Tours were easily booked from the hotel and all tours picked us up from the hotel. Breakfast was included at no extra cost. Walkign distance from the train and a ten minute walk from the old town. Sound of Music and mozart played non stop on certain channels, which really put me in the mood for Salzburg. The service and friendly atmosphere was well worth the cost.

Hotellet ligger centralt nära tågstationen och eftersom Salzburg är en liten stad så är det inte mer än 20 minuters promenad in till det gamla historiska centrumet. God service och fräscha rum. Mozart-rummen ligger i hotellets huvudbyggnad, Sound of Music-rummen ligger i ett annat hus tvärs över gatan. Trådlöst internet finns till överkomligt pris, ett 24-timmars kort räcker hela veckan eftersom bara de timmar då man är uppkopplad mot nätverket räknas.

Αυτο που με ενόχλησε ειναι οτι δεν γίνεται καμιά αναφορα οτι τα δωμάτια είναι σε αλλλο κτίριο δίπλα καθόλου γραφικό και σε θορυβώδες δρόμο.

sehr kurze Fußwege entlang der Salzach zu den Sehenswürdikeiten (ca. 10 - 15 min. bis zur Altstadt) sehr gepflegte, fast schon familiere Atmosphäre im Hotel große Speisenauswahl im Restaurant (Österreichisch, Italienisch und Indisch)

Dock omkring 15 minuters promenad till gamla stan. Vi blev vänligt mottagna och uppgraderade till en svit med Mozartdesign.

Kann man buchen, aber im Sommer immer mit Klimaanlage buchen.

Neu renoviertes Hotel, gute Lage, saubere Zimmer, mit guter Ausstattung.

Speziell für Kurzurlaub/Städtetripp bestens geeignet: alles zu Fuß erreichbar, ruhige Zimmer, Nähe zu Bahnhof stört nicht, nur eine halbe Stunde vom Flughafen; Zimmer geräumig, nette Ausstattung, reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet, abends im Restaurant von Salzburger Spezialitäten bis zur indischen Küche alles gut und reichlich zu angemessenen Preisen. Insgesamt empfehlenswert

Parkplatz vor dem Hotel ist super und gratis, Gegend ist nicht toll, bis ins Zentrum ist es nicht so weit. Freundlich waren alle, kompetent soweit auch. Zimmer ist sehr komfortabel, groß und OK. Die Einrichtung ist allerdings etwas abgewohnt und altmodisch. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. Der Preis geht für Salzburg in Ordnung, ist nach Preis/Leistung aber gerade noch OK. Wellnessmäßig gibt es leider nichts.
