Pestana Porto Hotel - Oporto

On arrival the hotel is anything but impressive. This is probably due to the dilapidated surroundings in this area of Porto as much as anything. There is no parking available at the hotel nor is there a valet parking service. We could not find a space to park outside while unloading. The staff were friendly and helpful and one of them accompanied me to the local car park where we left the car. The hotel has a very small lobby and very few services. Our room was relatively small although we specifically asked for a room with a third bed for a family member who was with us. Breakfast is served on the first floor of the hotel and again unfortunately disappointed. However, it must be pointed out that the staff here were friendly and helpful also. There are numerous restaurants near the hotel and across the river in Vila Nova de Gaia but the standard is hit and miss.Overall, when account is traken of the extra charge for three occupants in the room it has to be said that this hotel does not represent value for money.

The best location- right on the river- We had a view of the river from our room- it was beautiful. Loved it.

Loved this hotel - it was modern, nicely furnished, and clean. We had a waterfront room which had nice views of the river but it would have been nice to open the windows (they were the kind that could open but appear to have been locked and we weren't given a key). The staff was great and it was in a great location (quick walk over the bridge into Vila Nova de Gaia for port tastings/tours). There were also lots of really good restaurants nearby. There was one in an alley near the hotel that appeared to be someone's house but the food was terrific!

Best location in Porto. Charming, historic hotel. Great service, breakfast, rooms. Amazing river view.

We reserved a room with a full riverview and that's exactly what we got. From our bed we could see the bridge and all the Port wine houses and boats on the other side of the river. The view was spectacular and the room was cozy, comfortable and well furnished. The oversized feather pillows and comforters can be overwhelmingly hot at night, but I found a smaller down-alternative blanket and pillow in the closet and it was a great lighter solution for my sleep (and I was having a little bit of an allergy problem due to the feathers as well). My husband had no problem with the feather pillows and covers whatsoever, he loved every minute of it. They have a clever sound sistem in the room that allows you to play CDs or connect your MP3 player to it. But remember to bring a connecting cable, because the hotel does not have it. They also have a good minibar in the room, but no wine opener. The Pestana Porto is a special hotel because it's a world heritage site. They gut rehabed a couple old buildings and connected them inside to make the hotel. It is just beautiful and very chic, but I was surprised by the small reception area. The staff is really friendly and helpful, but you have to remember that you are in Portugal and due to their charming and slower pace of life things may take a little longer than you expect. Breakfast was included and delicious. The hotel is located right at the Ribeira and perfect for the restaurant and night scene. I loved the experience and if ever I go to Porto again, I'll be sure to stay at the same hotel.

Having read great reviews of this property, we eagerly booked what we were told was a superior room. Our room was very shabby with damaged woodwork, a view not of the harbor into another room and had a musty odor. The air conditioning was not effective. Following a lovely meal at a neighboring restaurant (Dom Tonho on the Riberia), we were convinced to try the hotel restaurant. What a mistake as we received the wrong order with overcooked entrees. The Porto Pestano purports to be a 4 star property. From our experience, it is a 2-3 star property that charges 4 star rates.

1) Chambre réservée avec vue sur la rivière. En fait, demi vue, orientation réelle sur la place Ribeira bruyante et touristique. Chambre très chère. 2) Internet wi-fi payant, cher, et surtout hors service pendant 3 jours. Disfonctionnement inacceptable pour un hôtel de cette catégorie et de ce prix. Un ordinateur connecté était mis à disposition gratuite de la clientèle mais il s'agissait d'un seul ordinateur, pour tout l'hôtel, âgé de six ou sept ans, et donc extrêmement lent et soumis à des plantages d'Explorer. 3) Chambre bien insonorisée des bruits extérieurs mais pas des bruits intérieurs. Impression que les voisins sont dans la chambre : voix, grincements de parquet,.. Au total, très déçu

Trevligt hotell med bra personal. Otroligt bra läge, centralt i porto. Rekommenderas.

Je reviendrai dans cet hôtel et dans cette ville magnifique. Je suis exigeant et là j'ai été comblé. Confort, personnel attentionné, chambre immense et vue ébouriffante. Tout a contribué à un séjour inoubliable au cœur de Porto. L'emplacement est exceptionnel !

Dit hotel gekozen vanwege de prachtige ligging (zicht op monding v/d Taag) De 4 sterren heeft het hotel met name hier aan te danken. Kamers zijn ruim en schoon. Het onderhoud aan het gebouw is onder de maat. Het hotel straalt hierdoor een beetje vergane glorie uit.
