Swissotel Berlin - Berlín

The location of the hotel is fantastic, you can reach the airport within 30min in the worst case by using express bus. The location is convenient, it's near many attractions and close to one of the biggest subway stations. When I came to the hotel I was told they were upgrading me to a better room. The room was huge, with a big desk, couch, TV and a nice bed. Everything was brand new and clean. The only downside (which is the reason for -2 stars in my review) was that the furniture and the room were so brand new that the whole room smelled on paint. I had an early flight and I could barely stand to be in the room for the night, I honestly thought I was going to get sick from the smell (I think the furniture was either new or freshly painted). Had I stayed for 1 more night, I would have asked for another room since this was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. I ended up being sick the next day, I can still feel the smell of that room. I believe that for this class of hotel, this type of incidents are unacceptable.

Mind, that the reason for the low rating on the comfort criteria was due to the bed. Even though it was a special 'health' bed, it was simply to hard for my back. Rest of the room was very nice.

We booked this hotel as a anniversary treat for a weekend away without our children (the first time ever). We chose the Swisshotel because of the location and because we wanted something a bit special. We wern't dissapointed ! Every thing was perfect, even above our expectations! The room was clean, modern and had everything we could think of, even an iron, hairdrier and coffee machine. The staff were friendly and spoke fantastic english. Breakfast had everthing you could imagine and the chef offered to cook fresh pancakes and waffles too. I would deninatly recommend to everyone who is travelling to Berlin and look forward to our next stay there.

This hotel was Swiss design meets German effeciency.... absolutely fabulous! Amazing location, friendly and helpful staff and immaculate rooms. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definately return!

In addition to the excellent location, beautiful structure, very comfortable accomodations, etc. the desk agent went out of her way to make me feel at home. I had stayed there once 6 years ago, and at check-in, was greeted warmly, with a big "welcome back"! In addition, she graciously offered to try to rectify a mistake I had made (making 2 reservations instead of one) by e-mailing you to ask that you credit my account. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!

We chose this hotel primarily as it was placed in the top 5 hotels on traveller review websites.Also we obtained a special rate based on the fact that breakfast was excluded and there was no cancellation provision. As it was we decided to pay 14 euro extra for breakfast on a couple of mornings which I felt was expensive although the food selection and quality was pretty good. We opted for a breakfast without the opportunity to order certain hot foods such as an omlette as this cost 21 euro. However for 14 euro we were still able to have sausages and scrambled eggs. The hotel is very handily located as it is within 5 minutes walk of the Zoologischer Garten train/U bahn station and there is a u bahn station even closer on the Ku'damm. Our room was fine but perhaps not quite as luxurious as I had expected. The TV was small and not very well situated. Very quiet at night and the air conditioning worked faultlessly. We were on the 4th floor with a street side view. The staff were very friendly, spoke perfect English and there was no delay in responding to any request made of them. It appeared that the other guests were more of the business rather than tourist variety but this was merely an observation. There is a nice big lobby in which you can sit and order food & drink and there is a separate bar tucked away to the side which is small and without much if any view. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel as being a good place to stay in Berlin.

This hotel exceeded my expectation. Modern design. Very comfortable bed. Helpful staff. Excellent facilities, particularly free use of internet at concierge which is rare at most 5-star hotels.

Much better than I expected.

The hotel was in a good location (for shops and sights), and the staff were very helpful. They showed us where to catch the public transport from etc. Lots of places nearby to eat or drink at.

Amazing Hotel! Excellent service and Fair Price with great room amenities. Locations is very good, Gym is just ok. Car parking is not cheap but really it could not get better Down town!

Fantastic staff, great hotel, good location!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel was beautiful, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful (umbrellas, maps, etc.). My first room was smoky and the staff came and moved me into another, better room. The rooms are large and very well appointed with modern furnishings. I was surprised that they didn't have flat panel TVs but this is a nonissue. The location is perfect, there is an amazing and reasonable restaurant, Vapiano, across the street. I would recommend this hotel for sure. The

The hotel is just off the main shopping street Berlins answer to Oxford Street, the Staff were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing stay in Berlin then this hotel is a must

I recently stayed here and found the service and cleanliness top class. The location was ideal being only 200m from Zoo Station and in the heart of the Ku-damm shopping district. (Take note, all shops are shut on Sundays). Would recommend this hotel to everyone if it fits in with your budget.

Super hotel, really enjoyed my stay there, perfect location with U stop just outside and 2 minutes walk from zoo station, staff fantastic and room a delight, would definitely recommend it

Stayed at the Swieeotel from 1 Jan to 4 Jan 09. It is a nice hotel, great staff and comfortable rooms. It has a good location with nice resturants within walking distance. It is located in west berlin so you need to use the public transport system to get to the main sites. Overall I was very happy with my stay at the Swissotel.

staff are great and very welcoming and make you feel right at home, i don't speak german but they try their best to get the message to you, they speak english good stay

This place is fabulous. Great staff, better rooms, clean, trendy and a wonderful Lavazza coffee pod machine in room. Wonderful linens and bed. The spa is nice and the food was great. I love the location. It is so safe since the Lobby is on the second floor and doormen check you out before you get on the Elevator. Good lobby bar as well. I will stay here whenever I am in Berlin!

The Swiss is a wonderful hotel in the heart of Berlin's shopping district. Superb service, stunning design, amazing breakfast, and a fine staff of professionals.

The hotel was excellent. The service was first class & the desk staff were extremely helpful. Can't fault the hotel at all (didn't eat there & only drunk in the cocktail bar very late so can't really comment on food, etc).

Our only disappointment was the ridiculous price that they wanted for internet service in the room. They did provide two computers with internet service in the lobby but they were seldom available. No ice machines were located in the hotel. Ice could only be ordered through room service.

if you want to be close to major shooping centersm this is the place to stay in. other services are nearby. the service is excellent. the room are nice and big. (it was grand room). some disadvantages are small and traditianl TV (not flat). youahve to go through two elevators to get to your room as the lobby in higher level and from there you need to take the other elevator. the menu of room services are very limited.

This was the nicest, most receptive hotel staff I have ever worked with. The only room for improvement is the GYM: they should invest in expanding it.

Great hotel in Berlin particularly for someone new to the city. All the hotel staff were helpful and proficient in English. The hotel is located near multiple bus and u- and s-bahn stops so getting anywhere in the city is easy. And if you want to walk- lots of places to eat and shop right around the hotel in the Kurfurstendamm area. Would definitely stay here again.

Really nice modern hotel near the "Ku'Damm" (shopping strip which includes the big department store KaDeWe). The only negative comment I have is about a member of staff, he told us he would book tickets for us for the Blue Man group in the BlueMax theatre and he completely forgot. Luckily we got tickets anyway but by pure pot luck.

Clearly positioned at the business end of the market, probably edges itself above the Steigenberger just around the corner in most respects except one in my opinion. The bedroom windows are fixed shut. May not be important at all to most people and the air conditioning was adequate, but for a fresh-air person like me, it's a no-no. I like my open window thanks so back to the Steigenberger for me. Otherwise excellent.

The hotel was very nice and very modern, however the super-modern style really cut down on the practicality and comfort of the room. Examples: I found the beautiful bed very uncomfortable (mattress too hard, impractical blankets, overly soft pillows); the bathroom was very large with two sinks, a tub, and a whole area of unused space by the tub, and yet the shower stall was much too small; the bedside lights were cool-looking but hard to use and often in the way; and it was almost impossible to sit and read a book in the armchair because there were no lights in that whole side of the room; and the uber-modern CD player was placed in such a way that if you tried to use the telephone on the desk, you would turn on the CD player every time by the motion-activated sensor. It just is not a well-thought out room in spite of being very clean and full of expensive stuff. I also wish that in such a modern place, there was a way to plug in your mp3 player and play that - it had a place to play cassettes, but not mp3s. I don't know anyone that travels with CDs or cassettes. My other disappointment in the room was finding that some of the snacks in the mini-bar had been opened, half-eaten and left there by a previous guest and the housekeeping never noticed or replaced them.

Lovely hotel with excellent staff who were very friendly and helpful as well as speaking excellent english. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. In a great position for Berlin as its close to a major station that has a direct route from Berlin Schonefeld airport. Would recommend to anyone.

We spent five nights at this hotel on an in-depth visit to Berlin and found it fully met our expectations. It is convenient to all kinds of transportation, especially to the 100 and 200 bus lines which take a traveler to all major destinations in the city. as well as convenient to shopping, the zoo, good restaurants, etc. The hotel concierge service was outstanding. We had spent an equally satisfactory four nights the previous week at the Dorint Sofitel am Gendarmenmarkt Hotel in East Berlin, with a side trip to Dresden and Leipzig in between, and found the combination of the two Berlin hotels and their respective locations very satisfactory for our purposes, which included art museums, concerts, historical places, good food and other tourist activities.

Vi er 4 gode venne par - som i forbindelse med vores årlige Marathon tur til Berlin - havde givet genvalg til Swissotel. Det fortrød vi ikke et sekund - herlige værelser med udsigt til Ku'dam, ægte og venlig betjening overalt på hotellet - og en mognemads buffet i topklasse. Vi kommer igen.

Vi tillbringade 3 dagar i Berlin och hade vad kloka nog att satsa på ett lite dyrare hotell. Swissotel var oerhört prisvärt, med superfräscha rum och med ett fantastiskt centralt läge vid K-damm. Åker gärna tillbaka!

Helt OK hotell. Inget flott men duger om man inte sitter på rummet hela dagarna. Rummen har heltäckningsmatta vilket är inte så trevlig om man har allergi mot damm. Det luktade illa på rummet om man inte hade ac på. Bra frukost.

Dejligt hotel, meget rent og fint. Mangler måske lidt gemytlichkeit. Minus: Restaurent ikke åbent i sommerperioden.

Betjeningen var i top og værelserne var også gode. Hotellet placering er perfekt, man er i gå afstand til flere restauranter, kaffe barer, bus stoppesteder, metro stationer eller vare huse. Kort sagt alt hvad man har brug for. Vælger man at spise morgenmad på hotellet koster buffeten 21 euro, men der er også alt hvad hjertet kan begære, (ligesom på "alle andre hoteller"). Hotellet ligger i den dyre ende men er alle pengene værd.

Et klasse hotel midt i hjertet af Berlin. Tæt på indkøbsmuligheder og arrangementer på Olympia Stadium.Super service, parkering i kælderen og meget rimelige priser på roomservice

Eneste negative å si om rommet er at sengen var noe hard. Ellers passet lokasjonen perfekt for oss som var på gjennomreise fra Praha til Kiel ettersom hotellet har egen parkering i kjelleren. Anbefales (men sjekk prisene i baren :-) )
